NC LB/WR Kris Frost Showing Up at the Shrine Bowl
NC LB Kris Frost was invited to the Shrine Bowl between the Carolinas this year...and did he ever show up. He was named to Chad Simmon's NC Top 7, and was thrown praise from the various analysts throughout the tournament

As for recruiting..it looks like he'll be making his decision with his parents over the holidays, but still plans to announce at the Under Armour All American Game. His decision will be between UM, LSU, and Aub
Fun Note: Teammates said that Frost looks like a "Christmas Decoration". Do people agree, disagree?

I'll take a christmas decoration if he can tackle like frost.

Would be an excellent addition to the current class

Frost has been recruited by RR for three years. How much will this mean to him when it becomes decision time? Is he willing to commit to school where he may not know who his coach is going to be? Will we lose out on Frost like we did on Cooper and Walls because of the uncertainty and DB's timeline?
December 16th, 2010 at 10:02 AM ^
Why or how we lost out on Cooper and Walls? RR's status a definite factor they mentioned either publicly or behind closed doors?

Cooper stated he had a team mate go through the uncertainty of a possible coaching change and he wasn't going to do the same. Walls was recruiting for us big time early on when things were going good. With the coaching uncertainty and him planning on being an EE he committed to a school that went 5-7 last year.

If Cooper liked Michigan that much and it was only the coaching uncertainty, then he would have waited before dropping us. I'm sick of people blaming DB for everything.
Walls had stopped saying anything good about UM when he went to the west cost. And he committed to a team who might be going through it's own coaching uncertainty if they go bowl-less again next year.

I think Tim mentioned Walls said something about the CC in his weekly roundup.

I believe Frost said he grew up a big Michigan fan and it was his dream to go there. He may be a guy for whom UM means something more than who the head coach is.

Hmmm. Good.

is terrelle pryor... nevermind, forgot pryor doesn't have any
I disagree... looks like a football player to me

Seems like he would be a good compliment to our other run stopping type linebackers of this class. I hope the coaches can pull this one off!

I hope Auburn's coaches blow it

Looking at that last picture, made me feel a bit like a creep. Was that necessary?
December 16th, 2010 at 9:01 AM ^
There was a creepier one I had originally of Kris eating by a 'recruiting analyst', in comparison it's really not that bad.

Good call.

It's tough to recruit when you're walking around with a loaded gun hanging in mid-air pointed at your head.

Frost would be a nice addition to this team, whether he plays WR or LB. I would love to see him at LB though with Kellen Jones and Desmond Morgan coming in to make this a nice LB class. Then hopefully get Lucien for WR.

kris frost makes me want to JUMP JUMP

Damn I hope we pull this kid...I was thinking about our LB depth earlier and, if we do employ a new DC next year, let's say one who runs a 4-3, where are we at with LBs? Demens is a lock at MLB, but what about the 2 outside guys? Mike Jones is all of 200 lbs, JB Fitzgerald hasn't shown us anything, ditto for Isaiah Bell, that leaves who?
December 17th, 2010 at 5:56 PM ^
For starters, I wouldn't discount Mike Jones just because of his size. As a true sophomore he was #2 on the depth chart and saw PT until his injury. He was a guy who saw the field as a true frosh too. He's more like 210 right now than 200, but I wouldn't be surprised if he started at WILL this fall. Also, JB Fitzgerald hasn't been a star by any means, but he started at the end of the year when Roh moved to DE. He was OK, IIRC.
Outside of those two we still have Brandon Herron, who was playing a lot before his injury this year, and Cam Gordon, who will likely move to WILL and battle Mike Jones for that spot.
So at the SAM, Herron and Fitzgerald are likely the top two and at WILL Cam Gordon and Mike Jones are our guys. This doesn't include anyone like Isaiah Bell, Jake Ryan, or Josh Furman getting involved.
EDIT: I looked on the mgoblue roster and it lists Jones at 6'2" 208, and that's preseason. Another year in the weight room and he'll be 215-220 easily, maybe 225. For reference, All Big Ten OSU LB Brian Rolle is listed at 218. You don't have to be huge to be a good LB. Also on the roster, Furman is 208 and Gordon is 207. They are 6'2" and 6'3", respectively. All three of them should be good LB size by this fall, and assuming Jones gets his medical redshirt they will be two sophs and a freshman.

I think I also read somewhere that Frost was looking to play receiver in college. Anyone?
December 16th, 2010 at 9:40 PM ^
the more i read about Kris Frost the more I want him to come in and play LB instead of WR.......i think he has more potential and better upside at LB
December 17th, 2010 at 6:31 AM ^
Everyone thinks that.
It's a matter of convincing Frost that he'd be a better LB than WR. Right now he doesn't believe it.
December 16th, 2010 at 2:49 PM ^
Anyone going to make it out for that game? Would love for him to get some "Go Blue"s during the game.
December 16th, 2010 at 4:27 PM ^
Not to nitpick, but he was invited to the Army All American Game not the Under All American.

this is some of the stupidest shit I've ever read in my life. OOH Frost made a nice play in practice!!! He's gonna be a beast fo shizzle.
This takes me back to the days when Jeremy Gallon and Big Will were tearing up the practices in their post season all-star games: certified BEASTS!!!
Don't get me started on JT Turner, OMG tore up the all-star game practices, woulda got a sixth * if it weren't an NC double A violation.
How about when Kevin (dearly departed) Sousa was at a summer camp and threw 2 or 3 nice passes. Wow you got to be kidding, a top rated HS quarterback is capable of throwing a nice pass. Who knew?

In my opinion, the most important recruit we have a shot at.
