NC LB Kris Frost and FL S Wayne Lyons to Announce Saturday

Submitted by DGDestroys on

It appears that, despite all of the coaching controversy, Kris Frost is set to announce his decision on Saturday. IMO, losing him would be bigger than Zettel and Hart combined, but that's just me. All signs point to Michigan. Would be a huge get for RR, or whomever is the coach come Saturday.

EDIT: FL S Wayne Lyons will also be announcing during the bowl. If Harbaugh comes in (Stanford's in his top 5), we could be sitting pretty for him.

It's weird to me too, but he's been to Nebraska many times, and seems to be always raving about their facilities and grade-A coaching staff. The degree doesn't mean as much as Michigan's, but neither does Florida's and they're in the final group. I know academics are a big thing for him, but if FSU can produce a Rhodes Scholar, I think any place can.

If Harbaugh is hired and Frost comes to Michigan, I highly doubt he is going to get a shot to play WR. Frost doesn't fit the WR mold that Harbaugh typically recruits. So I hope he is ready to play OLB from day one, even though Rod and staff promised him that he could start out at WR first. So I wouldn't be surprised if Frost delays his decision, but like I said, we'll see as it's gonna be an interesting upcoming weekend.

Let's hope that our coaching situation is settled and settled in a way that some quality recruits either remain or become interested. UM football has been focused on too many things these last few years and now it's time to get back to business.

I pledge that no matter what my personal feelings are that I will support the coach of this team no matter who it is.

What about the Saturday announcement suggests Michigan? The guys know we'll likely have a cc this week. They know the change may not happen till the "back half" of the week. But they're ready to announce this Saturday.

So they'll be choosing M even though they aren't sure who will be coaching M? They're  ready to commit to a new coaching staff they've never spoken to? And they're certain that this new staff actually wants them? This makes absolutely no sense. Sorry.

He's been planning on this date for quite some time now. He's fallen in love with the university, said it's his "destiny" to play here, hell even the Auburn guys don't think they have a shot. This is a kid who went from loving the coaching staff to loving the university.

Well, I sure hope so. But Dee Hart also said he loved the school and would come no matter what. Players commonly say that sort of thing.

Would you commit to coaches you don't know, and who don't know you? Wouldn't you maybe want to know who you'll be playing for -- and how he plans to use you, if at all -- before committing four years of your life to him? Especially if all you had to do was wait a few more days? This is just silly.

Plus: Frost wants to play WR. Many coaches don't see him that way. Harbaugh may well be among them. Frost has to know that. So...

Frost has said in multiple interviews that he's happy to play anywhere, he just wants a shot at WR in the spring.

As for guys commiting right now, I don't think the CC is as high a priority to all of them. Countess, Goudis, and Morgan all committed post-Ohio State, and Rodriguez' future wasn't exactly safe then. If anything, the coaching situation is probably clearer now than it was before Saturday. Frost has said he's been a lifelong fan, and we know how useless that can be, but he's been set on either Michigan or Auburn for a while now. He's had a verbal affinity for the school, not Rich Rodriguez, which is in our favor.

As for Lyons, I think he's a much bigger question mark, but it's not as if it's a stretch either. He has Michigan and Stanford in his top five. Perhaps he's committed to Jim Harbaugh, or to another school entirely. I don't think he would still have us in his list if we weren't a viable option, though. I do think the coaching situation has less weight with Frost than with Lyons.
