NBA salaries of U-M alums

Submitted by Human Torpedo on

Other than Crawford's new deal, nobody is really raking in big money right now. But it does appear they almost all got a slight bump via the new salary cap. These figures are off of ESPN for 2016-17 season:

Crawford: $13,352,012

Burke: $3,386,598

Stauskas: $2,993,040

THJ: $2,281,605

LeVert: $1,562,280

McGary: $1,526,040

GR3: $1,050,500

But I guess the Sixers don't count. Also, LeVert hasn't had any chance yet to earn playing time with not  having ever been on a roster for the NBA till now. IMO Hardaway will have a bigger role with the Hawks next year after coming on late in the season (this may just be wishful thinking, but who knows)

With the exception of Crawford's deal, every other salary was defined by the rookie scale or a cheap contract signed last year (GR3), so they wouldn't get any bounce. Trey and THJ will both be free agents next year, so we'll see if they're able to cash in on some of the big pay days with an even larger cap. They'll both probably be restricted free agents, however, which can sometimes suppress deals. Stauskas, McGary, and Levert, who will still be on their rookie scale contracts, are in line for modest raises.

And if he's even half way rational it's likely over the past decade he socked a bunch of his earnings away in other investments. My bet is by now that guy has "game over" money--paid off his major assets like real estate and has enough in the bank to life off the interest alone without eating into principle.

3.38 million for Burke isn't big money? Yeah okay....I'd kill to make even half of GRIII's salary.

I see what you're saying, but I think they're all doing pretty well for themselves no matter what happens.

I think that, if we did a demographics survey on this blog with that question, we would find exactly what we probably assumed - a fair number of well-paid people blog rather a lot, and talk Michigan quite a bit. That's OK, of course. We all need an outlet - some of us need it several times a day, of course, but that's fine.

until graduation.  Would they have been better off with another

college season under their belts?  Would their skills have

been honed a little more making them better pros or

would they be the same player they are today no matter what.?

The taxes he pays depends on whether he maintains citizenship in the USA or some other country. If he is a US citizen, he pays US taxes no matter where he works unless he makes under the minimum.
