National Championship Uniformz

Submitted by thisisme08 on

Lost in all the CC hoopla is probably the most Oregon thing ever as Nike just unveiled super special awesome kewl UNIFORMZ for the National Championship game because nothing says (possibly) winning your 1st National Championship like not wearing your school colors.

If I was an Oregon fan, I would be livid about this. From what I'm hearing, this is simply the road uniform version of what they wore last week. Nike expected Alabama to win, making Oregon the road team. When Ohio State won instead, Nike basically told Oregon they still had to wear them. Seems like most if not all Oregon fans I know are not happy about this, and it's really hard to make an Oregon fan not happy when it comes to uniforms.

At the end of the day, the joy is playing in the national championship game not worrying about the jersey that will be worn during the national championship game. Yes is sucks the jerseys are not green and yell"0" and they do not feature the latest in duck testicle technology but that is secondary to being able to wear them in a mid-January bowl game.

Those two things are not mutually exclusive. You can plan in the NCG, and ALSO wear your schools colors. It's not that hard. Look at Bama and pretty much every other school ever. Oregon likes to do stuff like this for huge games, and more often than not they promptly go out and lose while looking like some other school. See games against Auburn, LSU, etc. If I was superstitious, I would be a bit worried as a duck fan.

It's hilarious going to games in Eugene because you literally see 50 versions of the uniform walking around the stadium. Nobody wears anything made before like 2003 though because none of them were Oregon fans until then. Joey brought some people on board, but everyone else has jumped aboard the old bandwagon in the past 10 years. That's why they can barely sell out 60,000 seat Autzen stadium after the lose a game or two. See 2013 for proof.

One at a time? The whole bag at the same time? Does this bag look like a wrinkled, greasy cheesesteak bag with a bunch of them crammed into it or a nice panera bag with baguettes sticking out the top? These are all things we need to know.

Louis C.K. cracks me up. And this post just did too.

#1, shouldn't Oregon be the home team? They're the high seed.

Loved the "apple green Uniforms" Oregon had in the Rose Bowl.

It's the national championship game, these pictures are going to be in your school's history FOREVER...shouldn't you wear your school colors?

I love the Oregon uniforms if those were their colors, but they're not. If the Oakland Raiders were the Oakland Ducks, those would be SWEET.

OSU's black numbers on the shoulder pads look awful. They don't match anything. It's not like they have black pants. It's just a random black number.

Considering who they beat to win it, I would say Nike should have modeled the Oregon jerseys on thier 1939 basketball championship uniforms.  They were the frist team to win the basketball tourney.  If you wanted to honor someone, given this is the first year of the playoff, do it with Oregon given the historic similarities.

In regards to the OSU uniforms, they at least look like what they are based on.  Sometimes their nods to the past are a bit hard to see.  While you may hate the top line, the pictue cpation might make a few of you either happy or at least not hate it as much as you could.

But yes, part of me is laughing at Nike for counting their chickens before they hatched.

At this point, does Oregon even have "school colors"? Its really just a school logo, and everything else changes weekly...

Actually surprised they decided to pick a casual color to wear.

OSU should have kept their Pro Combats they have worn for big games in the past (2012 and 2013 vs us), I thought those Jerseys were a perfect example of sharpening up a traditional uniform, something Adidas has failed to do repeatedly with us.
