Naismith Fan Vote
More voting! (As if the EA Sports one didn't wear us out). Anyways, the NCAA has realased the fan voting part of the Naismith Vote. The Naismith Trophy is awarded to the best overall player in the nation, and is presented during the Final Four week. It's the basketball eequivelent of the Heisman Trpohy. It is very unique because fan voting counts for 25 PERCENT OF THE VOTE. So this one is actually pretty important to participate in.
It is between Michigan's Trey Burke, Indiana's Victor Oladipo, Georgetown's Otto Porter Jr., and Creighton's Doug McDermott. The link to where you can vote is HERE.
Vote for Burke, and Go Blue!
Burke is hands down the best player in America.
Done. Sure some will bitch about the posts but I like the fact Denard is on the cover and Burke should win the Naismith.
WIth Georgetown's loss to FGCU and McDermott being not all that great and being from Creighton, this will clearly come down to Burke and Oladipo. Let's make it happen.
If you have a Facebook account, you have no excuse. No Gigems this time too. VOTE.
Done. Post about it on facebook or twitter or both. Let your friends know.
Fan voting for these things is absurd. All Michigan fans will obviously vote for Trey. All Indiana fans will obviously vote for Oladipo, and the rest of the Big Ten fans will obviously vote for McDermott because it would be a good story and he didn't beat up on them all season. Anyone without any emotional connection or vendetta just won't vote. The true basketball fans who have no dog in the fight and will vote objectively will be less than 1% of the vote. There's absolutely no objectivity involved, which is a bad way to choose the player of the year.
edit: I did, however, get a kick out of the fact that they asked me to vote for women's POY afterwards, as if I had seen/heard of any of them before.
So did you vote or what?
Yes. But I hated every second of it ;)
Time to spam all my friends, which I'm sure they'll love after the NCAA cover debacle.
Oladipo is the only guy with a competing claim IME, and even that is pretty weak considering he lost the B1G POY crown this year.
Nohomo
I'd like to vote for him 1,000 times before bed tonight.
I'm wrong and sexist, but I totally voted for the Women's POY based solely on who I thought was the hottest. I had no other way to judge them (besides refusing to vote for the Notre Dame player because, well Notre Dame. This made it hard b/c she was the only one I felt was hot. I then lowered my standards rather than voting ND).
This is testiment that fan voting isn't very accurate / objective.
I voted for Elena Delle Donne becuase
- Her name is awesome
- She avergaes 25.5 ppg which is like wow
- She shoots 3s at 48% which is like wow again
- She's not Britney Griner
- She doesn't go to Notre Dame
Voted for the the best player in the NCAA.
