My biggest fears after two games

Submitted by WolverRoudy on
I am as excited as everyone else about the win on Saturday; however I can't help but feel that something awful is just around the corner.  I mean we did beat Wisconsin last year to get our hopes up.  This ND victory could be a fluke.  It doesn't look or feel like a fluke, but Forcier is just a freshman, he could fall apart.

First scenario that I fear.  ND unloads their frustrations on Michigan State and we in turn lose to the Spartans.  This is a very likely scenario and one that would have ND fans saying "see we were robbed", and of course "we are better than Michigan".  As long as we finish out with enough wins for a bowl game, I could live with this happening, but it would sting especially after such a great victory.

Second Scenario, we win out until Ohio State.  Then we proceed to lose a heart breaker at home to Tressel again similar to 2006 in the Shoe.  The pain from being so high and falling so far.  Also, after witnessing the first two games and all the newly created buzz not that far of a stretch anymore.  I think I would prefer to lose to MSU and Wisconsin this year (they owe us one) and beat the buckeyes at home.  Still a scenario I could live with since being so low last year.

Third Scenario, ND beats MSU, we lose to MSU, Wisconsin, Iowa, Penn State, and Ohio State.  Also a feasible scenario.  At 7-5, right where most would have predicted we'd fall this year, but still painful after being so hyped after ND.

I am truly not trying to be a pessimist, but rather a realist about what could lie around the corner for us.  What does Karma have in store for us?

Thoughts?

Hey, I know, let's create a diary entry showing every permutation of the binary won/lost for the remaining 10 games. We can have, what, 1024 different scenarios that we can lay out and discuss each glorious up and down possibility!

One game at a time bro. It's EMU week. As Brian and Tim said on the podcast, this year is about enjoying football. We have a quality team, albeit young, which is getting better each and every week. Enjoy it. Besides 11-1 w/ a loss to OSU would be an unbelievable season. Rodriguez would be coach of the year for sure lol

So let me get this straight. 1. In a A>B B>C C>A scenario you "fear" ND fans then concluding that somehow B>A? 2. You "fear" going 11-1 this year? 3. I'm not even going to respond to this. You know what I fear? I fear a loved one being diagnosed with cancer or losing my job/house, etc. Get a grip brother.

There is only 2 things I would worry about right now if I was a UM fan, 1. Whether the team can play just as hard when playing away from home. And there really is no way to predict success or failure until they get to east lansing to play. 2. Whether the fans will still have their voices when PSU and OSU come to town. The noise that was generated last weekend if sustained will be unlike anything those teams will have faced all year.

1) I sure hope so, but we'll have to wait till October 2) It's Penn State and Ohio State, actual conference play with (omg I hope so/ long way to go) a chance at the B10 title on the line. it will be louder. Plus, doesn't sound travel better in colder denser air? So things should be at the same/greater level with less/equal output? I am not a sound engineer, but just throwing it out there.

If that's your attitude torwards the rest of the season then maybe NASCAR, MLB or PGA might suite you. I'm not afraid of anything we've just beaten a ranked team, won our opener and have a perfect chance of going 3-0 after this weekend. I'm very dissapointed with this thread.
