My analysis of the game(just a primer before the real thing from someone else)

Usually I don't post after a win or loss because there is a flood of content but I thought I would go for it this time. One of Indiana's defensive strategies for the game was to always have the DE play contain on the zone option. Makes sense since our line just got shuffled and when the QB gets loose it frequently ends in a big play. I am very curious to see how the UFR turns out for the lineman, because I thought they had only an average game, despite the big numbers. Theoretically when the DE plays contain we should be a man up for blocking. I thought he played alright, but the reason Jordan Kovaks didn't get a scholarship coming out of high school was pretty evident. On the 90 yard touchdown run(not his fault entirely) he looked to have the best angle to make the stop after the linebackers and brandon graham got smushed, and he just got run around by a better athlete. There was another play early in the game when Indiana faked the zone option then ran an option to the outside(obviously I am not good with football terminology) where Kovaks could have limited that to a small gainer, but he attacked the inside man(the QB) and it turned into a huge play. Best defensive player on the day besides Donavan Warren was Stevie Brown. Got to give him props. He was the best tackler and seemed to hits the holes correctly much more often than the other two linebackers. I didn't see him get injured so I am assuming that Cissoko got benched. Floyd wasn't much of a step down or up, but he is a much much different player. His biggest weakness is obviously speed. He played so far off his man it was scary. He is also not much stronger or a better tackler than Cissoko. Still, the height makes a big difference. My theory is that against teams with bigger wideouts we go with Floyd and against teams with smaller wideouts we go Cissoko. Against teams with large, speedy receivers (Michael Floyd) we pray and secretly hope they get injured. That is all for now, hopefully that is a good primer/conversation starter until UFR comes out. Also, I beg you, when the quarterbacks make freshman mistakes, do not say things like, "When will we finally get a decent quarterback?" or, "Why do we suck so much?" It makes you look stupid and some day I will have a lapse and punch you in the mouth. Go Blue and HOLD ON TO THE DAMN BALL.

I wonder what's going on with Vlad. He was a starter in the spring game and then falls to 3rd behind Kovacs. I wouldn't exactly love to burn his RS but how could he be behind Kovacs?

Don't know why you got negged for that because I think you are right. I saw him play on special teams. Maybe there is a certain number of plays he is allowed to be in without using up his redshirt, I don't know, but I definitely saw him out there. Of course I have no idea why he isn't playing safety. GERG does seem to be a conservative DC, so maybe he trusts Kovaks to not get burned deep more so than Emelien. Still, would have been nice to get a guy who will most likely be a started next year some playing time against worse opponents(EMU)
