Mullen's four-year deal is worth $10.6 million with a $1.4 million buyout, a significant bump from his previous deal worth $1.2 million a year. The new contract is subject to the approval of the state College Board. Mullen will receive $250,000 in state funds with most of the balance of his salary paid through donations to the private Bulldog Foundation.
"It's a top-20 salary nationally and I think that's pretty significant," MSU athletic director Scott Stricklin said.
