Much needed OT: Golden Tate

Submitted by willywill9 on
To switch it up a little... I was watching this Notre Dame / WSU game, and Golden Tate is having his way with them. Golden Tate is a phenomenal athlete. Ever since Michael Floyd went down, Tate has stepped up big making all sorts of plays. In Wildcat formation, as RB, or as a receiver, he's been a vital role in the ND offense. My question is, does anyone else find his attitude off putting? I know folks who hate ND will concur, but I'm curious what the mgobloggers who don't hate ND, or can at least be impartial (Yep, all five of you) think. Is it me, or is his arrogance completely unnecessary? Wouldn't you try and keep his attitude in check if you were his coach? Or would you applaud his in-your-face attitude?

nope, He a missed TD in the opposite corner of the stadium where the ND band was and the quarter ended, so they switched ends of the stadium and woops. LoL, BTW the ND band doesn't wear kilts, they wear dark blue and white uniforms while the MSU band wears dark green and white uniforms. Tate basically had two short steps after catching the ball at the edge of the endzone and there was the band....

Sometimes it runs over a little bit more than I'd like, but then again I'm a sports official that hates watching kids in my game do similar things. I don't mind a little swagger, but yeah, some of his antics (swan diving into the band) are too much.

his attitude seems to fit in with the Jimmy Clausen and Armondo Allen mold. Lots of cockiness. I hate it, but at the same time I hate everything about Notre Dame.

...Washington State is just God-awful. Oregon could have beaten them 100-0 earlier this year if they wanted to. They put in their second string QB in the second quarter.

He does the holding up of the finger to his helmet to signify "shhhh"-ing the crowd, does some post touchdown celebrations, some after the catch light taunting, as well as things like the swan dive. Doing some of this is fine IME, but he does it so much it comes off as a negative sometimes.

Hmmmm.. He's alright to me.. I'm not sure that the swan dive was deliberate.. and to be honest.. the stuff that kid has done wouldn't be an issue to us if he was wearing a Michigan uniform.. We probably would have won vs State and Iowa this year with a player like him on offence.. :-/

Msybe it's just me, but I feel like the pointing to God runs counter to Christian principles. Pointing to God screams, "Look at me! I made a great play, now I'm going to show you how good of a person I am!" There are exceptions of course, but I think the point to God has gotten away from its original message.

If I was Weis I would just tell him to go on doing whatever he wants... he is obviously producing without Floyd. I just looked , he has like 60 catches, the #2 receiver on ND has about 30. As far as his attitude I thought you were referring to when ND's backup QB threw one into the ground in front of Tate's feet when he was wide open and Tate just stood there and glared at the QB like 'bitch, please'. That was kind of d-baggy, yet hilarious.

For some reason many top receivers tend to be pricks. Golden Tate is no exception. Hopefully he will be pulling that shit in the NFL next year, and not against our porous secondary.
