He must've really been drunk if he got a disorderly AND resisting/assault... Yikes.
Not defending the kid, but getting a resist/obstruct charge really just depends on the cop. I have seen R/O charges for doing very little. Catch the wrong cop on the wrong day and just watch the charges pile up.

Also, Ann B. Davis was the truck driver--a proud UM alumnae.
Tell 'em Large Marge sent ya.
Large Marge was played by Alice Nunn. Not Ann B. Davis.
Oh, my bad! Been awhile. Didn't Ann B. Davis play a truck driver at some point?
Yes! That's where I got the roles mixed up. Sorry everyone for the misinfo.
get happy about a 21 year old getting a DUI no matter who he plays for. This will now have to be part of every job application he fills out in the next 10 years. He was arraigned for a misdemeanor in spite of the disorderly and resisting arrest stuff so I would think more probation and fines.
So what? It should be on every job application. The guy is a dangerous idiot and deserves to be labeled as such.
who cares...there should be a new board rule where we only discuss players that play for michigan or players that may play for michigan, ie recruits. anyone other than that we shouldn't give a damn about, good or bad.
It wouldn't be the first time someone brought this up, and even though there are people that use stories like this as an opportunity to do some "grave dancing", as you put it, news about current and future opponents, particularly inside the conference, has always been within bounds. Further, if we restricted the talk to Michigan and its players or potential future players, there would probably be long, awkward pauses on the blog which would encourage some posts that probably would generate more numerous complaints.
I can see both sides of the arguement about talking and not talking about our rivals' players. Maybe an appropriate happy medium is to "discuss" the issue, but not do the "grave dancing" as no team, including our beloved Harbaughed Boys in Maize 'n Blue, is just full of boy scouts and they will unfortunatley now and then do things they will regret. We like to think we don't stoop to their level so maybe we should not. Now their fans, that is another story.
It's Brian's blog, and this subject clearly falls within the parameters he set when he created it. From the FAQ:
ONTOPIC
• Anything Michigan sports related
• Anything related to other Big Ten teams or upcoming opponents
• Stuff about the blog itself
• University of Michigan topics that don't relate to sports
If the subject's way out of left field, I trust the judgment of the mods to delete it. It's why they make the big money.
don't want to read.
...so I'm sure he's up for the challenge. The game previews are going to be particularly interesting. Yesterday's headline might look something like:
[Opponent Redacted] 82, Michigan 78 (2OT)
It will go something like: "Hey Walverine fans, we are going to anticipate you saying something about [Insert situation here] so let's say it for you and then bring up your skeletons. Then we'll go all Walmart-meme on you to show you that you're trolls. Don't bother posting anything; we've got this taken care of."

This is one of the built in advanatge of being irrelevant nationally. This won't be a national story - because no one cares about Michigan State outside this area. They take full advantage of that when its convenient. Not to mention the Payne and Appling thing was completely swept under the rug and known to exist (all the while the Gibbons debacle was happening)
Also like others have said, there was a similar incident last year and their coach's rationale for bringing him back was "He is a playmaker". Hoke would have been ripped to shreds over saying something like that. Instead it was largely ignored even locally.
The local media can make a big deal about this if they want to. I doubt they will because like Brian said there is an army of MSU slappies writing the narrative.
Remember when Touissant and Glasgow's one game suspensions for alcohol offenses were probably not enough. Hell at least they missed time.
I am waiting the stories where we see their coach didn't act quick enough. Maybe this kid should take a year off and get his act together. Will anyone push this issue? Probably not.
The news coverage slant magically changed in 2008 with that little fictional article about stretching.

The holier than thou, 'kid at another school did something wrong and his coach didn't do enough' threads are sooo annoying. I said as much in the last kings thread. We're removed from the situation and each one is different.
But strike two is on Dantonio, too. Can't spin it any other way.
