MSU Starting Guard Lucious Dismissed From Team
In what can only help Michigan's chances tomorrow in E Lansing, Korie Lucious is no longer with the Michigan State Spartans for the 2011 campaign.
Michigan State announced Tuesday night that it has dismissed junior guard Korie Lucious for the rest of the season.
"Unfortunately, Korie Lucious displayed conduct detrimental to the program, Spartans coach Tom Izzo said in a statement. "My focus is on this team for the remainder of the season."
"I didn't live up to the standards of the program," Lucious said in his own statement. "Unfortunately, I let my teammates, my coaches, and myself down, and wish them the best for the rest of the season."
His return has to be doubted. This news comes on the heels of rumors/reports that Izzo has threatened players who don't play defense with benchings, Allen's departure at the end of last year and a general free-fall compared to their NC expectations. With the Spartans scrambling to adjust to a new starter, this is as good a chance as Michigan will get to beat MSU at the Breslin.

but I also give Izzo credit for booting him. Other than that, I've never seen another coach who looks like he might actually cry when a cal goes against him.

Sorry, Izzo gets no credit. The real "infractions" were committed last summer/fall. The conduct detrimental to the team was sucking on the court. If he had rebounded from his trouble to post good numbers this year, he would have never been booted. Izzo is a hypocrite, but he wins... yeah for izzo.

Forgive me if you're actually a Spartan insider, but you know this how? Why would Izzo boot the kid who kept them alive in the tournament with a buzzer beater last year? You do realize if he's sucking he could just put him on the bench, right?

If that's the reason, he would have been booted a long time ago. A coach doesn't say, "Well, this kid might have raped someone, let's keep him on the team... But if he's not shooting well, adios!"

infractions were and this came from the RA of the hall where the "alledged rape" took place. What Lucious has done since then that was detrimental to the team I have no knowledge of.

claimed a junior was part of an alleged sexual assault in the room of two freshman basketball players? you are so full of it.
you should be neg bombed to beyond FuMan levels for this level of sloppiness and the corresponding negative connotation and impressions it leaves to an unknowing public

Lucious' detrimental conduct was a DUI. the alleged rape involved two freshman. you really should make sure you have your facts straight before you make claims like this.

Were Michigan not in the midst of a six game losing streak that includes beatdowns by Indiana and Northwestern, I'd totally be on board with this kind of optimism. Alas, I just don't see this happening Thursday....but I hope I'm wrong, very wrong.

I am thinking the same thig. Basically, it is a shame he wasn't playing better or he might have been able to stay under the MSU strict "zero tolerance unless you are good" policy.
