This is pretty old I believe. I think they were already approved too
landing spot. will be interesting to see how he does.
This is pretty old I believe. I think they were already approved too
....shouldn't it be more, well, along Bill Veeck lines....
Lynn & Doug must be twins.
More room for ads
From what I had heard they are going to be slightly bigger than ours (no surprise). I just laugh that they still have to put sponsorships on their scoreboards. How about a huge McDonald's sign above them or on their uniforms? Sounds good to me
It's not they. It'll only be one
Unfortunately I think they'll be bigger.
addressed for coach Groucho Mark. Plus we have two scoreboards so we got more...
You can put a plasma TV in a public restroom, but it is still a crappy place to be.
They certainly don't need more seating!
How's that saying go? Something about lipstick on a pig? Plus, as far as I know, they're putting in one big board that's bigger when compared to of our our twos. I'd rather have two.
Looks like they are getting 3 screens. There was also a mention about some extendable morphing video wall similar to what U2 uses in their concerts. No info on whether it was approved or not.
For reference, the LED strip connecting the two north screens is diagrammed at 10' tall.
They didn't mention the expanding 'U2-like' video wall. If there was one, it would likely be between the two scoreboards on the north end. However, while the main components will be completed from 3/2012 - 7/2012, there are some aspects of it that will not be completed until 2013. There are some speculating that this additional construction period will be for the north facade improvements as well as, maybe, an additional 'expanding' function to the portion of the LED strip connecting the two north scoreboards. This is speculative and based on older rumors as much as the current proposal.
Additionally, this will include an improvement to the facade of the north end of the stadium. When it was originally approved for proposal in December, it included some seat additions.
every shitty seat in that gawdawful hell-hole, with all of the warmth of a soviet-era public administration building. I don't think I will ever go there again.
That place seriously sucks
Want to know how bad it is? There are GAS PUMPS underneath the east side of the stadium.
Lil bro is jealous again and had to tell the world "me too". I wonder if they can afford it? I guess the ads will help pay for it. I wonder if they have an original thought.
Hey everybody, try to guess which one is Izzo, and which one is Dantonio.
Yes, because UM was the first team ever to get HD scoreboards. Also the first to play an outdoor hockey game. They didn't copy that from anyone else, right?
or just plain dumb?
Outdoor hockey has been played for over 100 years. How do you think the game was played before electricity was common for refrigeration? Oh yes, it was played outside. Anyone can play hockey in a rickety stadium, but only Michigan and do it with style and grace in the Big House.
UM never said we were the first to get HD boards. However, our board do not have any advertising and it is the Big House.
Go back to the Red Cedar Bowel Movement where you came from sparty. You will always be Little Brother. The sooner you accept it, the easier your life will become. You will not be filled with so much hate.
So, are you going to response directly to any one of the specific points made, or are you just going throw out ad hominem attacks like a three year old?
Will you have an aneurism if I point out that while you contend to not consider Michigan State a rival, the only person that hates them more than you - and points it out - here is Tater? And that you're quickly closing the gap?
I dont really hate sparty. I know several hundred MSU Graduates (noticed that I capitalized MSU) that are good and honest people. Not everyone can get into UM. I know several MSU grads that went to MSU after being denied to UM. I have no problem with those people because their heart is in A2, many are season ticket holders to UM too. They just could not get in to UM for whatever reason. I dont hold that against them like others on here do. Yea it is fun to see the T-Shirts say: "If Ann Arbor was a whore, why couldnt you get in?" That is funny and has some truth to it, but not everyone can get in. The latest undergrad admissions is about 50% acceptance rate. That is a lot of people being denied
I sit next to a sparty at work and she is awesome. She understands her place in the universe and the space-time continuium is balanced. Its the walmart sparties that I dislike because they think they are like us. They want to be like us but they cant. Also there are some msu students that are bitter for being rejected by UM. It is those people that hate us when actually it is mis-placed anger. They should be angry at themselves for not getting the grades or test scores to get in.
You do realize, of course, that not every student at MSU was rejected by UM, right?
The ones I cannot stand are the sour grapes MSU grads who applied to Michigan and couldn't get in, and then go on to "hate" them and claim "they were better off".
over 50% of MSU students applied to (and were rejected from) UM. (link is down).
I have no problem with people supporting their team. Its those that hate on us for being rejected that I have a problem with. Not everyone can meet UM high standards. However, instead of being mad at themselves and channeling that energy into positive action, they just hate on us.
Is it UM fault that they did not study, get good grades, volunteer for the homeless/helpless, be a positive role model in the community? But sparty will not ever accpet that. it is so much easier to hate on us than to accept responsibility for their own situation.
and you have only been here a few weeks. You need to understand the facts. You have not cleared up anything. Again this is the sparty tactic, avoid the truth and hopefully people will believe you. You search for the data that supports your position by scouring the internet for something you can hang on to.
You provide a graph that anyone can make. Who is the author of this chart? Who is the source? Oh I found it...SOURCE EMERGING. So this is a sparty wet dream. Go away sparty. You will always be lil brother, there is nothing you can do.
The facts are the facts. USNWR releases college ranking every year. They are the experts and consistantly rank UM higher. UM has higher incoming SAT scores and higher GPAs. That is a fact. So you can make up any chart you want. Just go away lil bro and quit crying. It will be ok.
they are desperate copycats
TOO MANY SPARTAN TOPICS
They need to check into that first. That place stinks!
typical little brother. always has to copy big brother and everything he does.
I think that looks pretty awesome. It has two nike swooshes for ads, I'd say it's pretty nice, better than ours even. I don't really like all the blank space on ours.
Shouldn't they work on other more pressing prioties first? Maybe like getting some....I dunno....fans or something to watch them?
Just a thought.
The purpose of the new boards is to place these types of ads for all to see in hopes of bringing in anyone who may be interested. Obviously we know this plan won't work.
The renderings look nice.
Think the fans will end up disappointed, if they have to use a hand me down instead?
In other intersting topics, Germany is a country in Europe. Sorry, I just could care less what they are doing.
Get a life Grammar nazi
He is saying that he does care a little, but not a lot? You know what happens when you assume...
This is all part of the plan to snake oil walk-ons from Slippery Rock, and expand recruiting nationally, and by nationally I mean the UP.
Sparty must be learning from the chinese clone your enemies Ideas instead of being original
Man, that is one butt ugly stadium. Maybe the worst in D1 college football.
Maybe they should sell out a home game that doesn't involve Michigan first.... Screw them anyway.
about RR threads, why the fuck is there a thread on scoreboards being installed at spartan stadium. who gives a shit. this has nothing to do with Meechigan.
At a time when the University of Michigan spends hundreds of thousands if not millions of dollars per year advertising the fact that it's a global educational institution that is busy establishing connections with people and institutions all over the world, we have supposed fans of that UM's football team whining over posts about a competing institution hardly an hour away.
I want to know what Rich Rod thinks about the new scoreboards at Michigan State. Rumor has it that Urban Meyer's obvious cheating will be reported on them as will live footage of the Sandusky trial.
There. I think I covered all the favorite non-Michigan popular board topics.
Is Yuri Wright gonna be at the announcement?
the latest Jersey Shore episode
Sparty can't read.
Like putting make-up on your ass. The scoreboards and video boards look ok....but terribly out of place. The rest of the stadium is so shitty, old, etc. They should update the rest of the dump first. Maybe put a real surface since they have proven THEY can't even grow and maintain grass well.
But yes, let's put new boards in.
I loved it when they had their football schedule, along with phone number for tix, on mountain dew pop cans......pathetic.
With regards to the turf, what are you referencing? They just got new turf this year, and it takes a couple years to fully take hold...
out of the buckeye book of tricks too
Simply put, a grass field is an inferior playing surface. Have played on grass and field turf, and the turf is far surperior......less injury, better drainage, more consistent surface, easier upkeep.
Didn't know you got new grass...was at a high school playoff game there and the field/stadium was awful ...a big ten disgrace. We have small high schools around here with better playing surfaces and nicer looking stadiums, seating, and concessions. I am not a picky eater, but the food even sucked.
Maybe this version of your turf will be better....we'll see. Nice scoreboards, now fix the rest of it.
FWIW, Spartan Stadium had all of it's grass removed or destroyed during the U2 concert last summer. Part of the contract was that U2 paid for new grass to be installed. That grass was grown in Colorado (I believe from the same plots of land that grow ND's grass), shipped in cold trucks rolled up strip by strip up to Michigan, and then laid out over the summer. Yes, the summer, as in little to no rain. If you recall this past summer had a wet July and then nada. The school was worried about it's quality going into the season. It proved serviceable but as the season wore on the grass wore down, which is why it looked so ratty at the end. Give it a year or two to really grow and flourish and it will look fine. Certainly better than some NFL fields (PIttsburgh comes to mind).
So in short, don't worry about MSU, kthanks.
Can't we just give them our old ones? That's what big brothers do.
Haha, how'd that game work out for them? Spartan revisionist history.
to change them every couple of years?
I'll give 'em this, those mockups make the actual functional part of the scoreboard (i.e., time, scores, timeouts, etc.) look infinitely better and user-friendly than what our boards finally ended up with this year.
I get the idea behind the eye-popping graphics and the size of it all, but at the end of the day, a scoreboard is a scoreboard, and should be able to give me that kind of stuff in a decent format.
That being said, I love when Sparty gets a chip on their shoulder and has to do something because we just did.
You mean like when we approved our addition? Er...no...wait...MSU did that first...that's right.
sorry, see below.
...because trash woud still be flying around into your face.
We need to slap little sister back into her place at the bottom of the pile
Ads for the new score board are already paid for, they've been leased for the next millennia by defense attorneys from Ingham county and non-flame retardant couch from True Valve.
This is why softball is a clown. He continues to use the little brown statement while embarrassing the rest of us. Ugh.
Dude, msu had outdoor hockey before us, night games before us, and even winged helmets before us if you want to go that far back. So lets not tread iinto originality territory.
The front is a hard leather piece common for the day. They do have a single "wing" running down their helmet, but they have that in the modern age as well. If you're going to say MSU had winged helmets before we did, you also have to claim that they currently wear winged helmets.
As to the other things, think what you will, but I know that they weren't the first to either play football at night or hockey outdoors (an NHL match was even staged outdoors in 1991).
beachbum69, who is this "us" you refer to?
