MSU @ ND...who ya got?!

Submitted by Mr. Yost on

Who do you want to lose more? MSU or ND?

What's your final score?

I'll go:

State - 31
Domers - 28

...a heartbreaking gamewinning FG by MSU to win the game after ND throws an INT trying to get into FG position to win the game. Kelly's head literally explodes.

I think Sparty is a good team, but their terrible O-line does not match up well with a dominant front seven for the irish.  Also, they lost a lot in the secondary and are facing an outstanding passing team.  I'm going with ND in a surprising rout.

so I don't have to classy and hope state gets crushed. Yes Notre Dame can be annoying but state fans are even worse because they have tendency to be pyromaniacs and are experts in property damage. Plus I have be around them far more often. I see a 31- 28 win for the Irish.

Sparty needs to be put back into his place.  Therefore, it is easy for me to root for ND in this one.  Besides, we own ND this year -- we still have to work on Sparty.

At this point, I would love to see ND's season completely implode so I will be (half-heartedly) rooting for Sparty.

Given the series history, I think MSU wins a close game: MSU 31  ND 28

I am so conflicted. I so want sparty to get knocked down a peg....BUT..... tears are a fine wine and if we let them age a few more weeks they will be oh so much sweater on the 15th if they are undefeated till then.

I'm really praying for a fball and bbal clean sweep this year. would make my year

They are capable of scoring 45 points a game if they don't turn it over 26 times.  State will be shell shocked.  Just like us(yes, we were, admit it).......but ND will not give the ball away and MSU doesn't have DenardX!

I want MSU to lose for this reason: I've never seen a more sour fan base after the UTL game. You would think they lost the game. Every MSU fan was shitting on ND saying they suck and UM will not beat a quality team etc etc. Considering this, if ND beats them, it will be oh so zyatisfying. I think ND is the more talented team, but MSU is the more diciplined team, so I agree with everyone else saying that if ND finally reduces the amount of turnovers, they will win this game comfortably. I don't think the MSU offense is good enough to handle the ND front 7 and I don't think their defense is good enough to stop Floyd and his minions.

What you said exactly... i have about 5 friends from college that are MSU fans' and all I saw on their facebook pages days after the game was about how ND fucking sucks..

Their D is soo bad and so is their joke offense..  Which in turn makes us a pathetic team..

This is the reason why i want ND to smash MSU..  I think ND wins this by 2 touchdowns IF and only IF they don't turn it over

I think that ND playing tougher previous competition will help them out as will playing at home.    I think that ND's defense exposes State's still suspect offense line just enough to take this one:   28-14.

Given MSU's history of winning against ND (esp. in South Bend), and the fact that Notre Dame has all the pressure, I will take Sparty here. While ND is talented, it is hard to believe that the media and fan pressure for them to win will actually help them when it comes to turnovers. MSU looks pretty solid all around, and I do not think that ND has the pass-rushing skill to take advantage of MSU's biggest weakness, which is its O Line.

wait to see sparty have to throw the ball all day coming from behind and expose Cousins for what he really is, an average good game managing QB. ND will get out big and stop the run early, and it will be so niceafter listing to all my state friends talk about how terrible ND is.

Im thinking 34-21 Irish.

Cousins is too good to be held out the whole game, but he can't throw on the run worth a damn, compared to the guys ND has been chasing around so far this season.

I think ND has BCS quality firepower on offense, once the turnovers slow down even a little.

Defensively, MSU just doesn't look that good to me. Sure they blanked Florida agricultrural tech or whoever, but those guys looked like Schnellenberger was toting the rock for them, not just coaching. I felt all game that FIU (?) was more to blame for their troubles than MSU was.

Admittedly, I didnt watch every snap with the fervor I do for UM, but that was my impression.

ND, despite having substantial talent, is the Midwest version of the Hurricanes: 4 and 5 star talent, 1 star coaching.

Spartans 31

Domers 27

Tommy Rees throws 2 interceptions, yanked for Crist midway 2rd quarter.

Brian Kelly: Held down by asst coaches for an excorcism in 4th quarter.

Personally, I hope ND either beats or crushes State, not to worried about which, both would have benefits. There are a surprisingly large number of Sparty fans up here in the Yoop, and I am getting very sick of hearing what an "elite, national program" they are. Very few ND fans up here, so not to worried about their ego being re-inflated. I'm going ND 34 MSU 28...go nd??

Turnovers will be the major factor here (as it was for ND in our game and the USF game). If ND can manage to keep their turnovers minimal then I can't see them losing. That offense is too powerful and the d is too strong.

Notre Dame cleans up the turnovers and wins easily at home over a grossly overrated MSU team. Seriously, how is MSU going to stop Floyd? Plus, ND's front seven are going to tee off on an immobile Cousins--especially after the frustration of chasing Denard around last week.

ND - 42

MSU - 24

I have ND in a blowout 35 14 with no turnovers.

Then I have MSU in a close one 38 - 34, in a turnover filled afternoon for ND.

If ND can hold onto the ball they are one of the dealiest teams in the country.  Sparty will be thier first victim.

MSU played no one.  Looked terrible against YSU but was much better against FAU(then again, it's FAU).

ND was statistically dominant except for turnovers.

My feeling is ND won't turn the ball over(maybe 1 time) against MSU and win big against MSU.  They're a better team and would be 2-0 if they didn't shoot themselves in the foot.

Interesting matchup to watch for is BJ Cunningham vs. Gary Gray(what kind of parent would name him Gary Gray???).  BJ Cunningham was excellent in the first two games and is Cousin's favorite target this season.

Can't stand either team.  I'm not rooting for either team.  But after the last 15 years, you have to like Sparty in this game regardless of the pressure Notre Dame is under.

It will be nice to see Kelly explode yet again and he will.  But fear not, Irish loving media.  ND will rebound next week and beat the cupcakes that follow until November.  Then you can go back to giving them all the undeserved hype they got to start the season.

Final:

MICHIGAN STATE - 35

NOTRE DAME - 24

Haven't the Spartans owned ND in South Bend the last few meetings? If my memory serves me right (and it could fail me at any time). The wind is out of the sails of ND for the moment. Time for MSU to get theirs. ND 31 MSU 17.

I will root for State mainly because my brother, who is a State alum and a huge slappy, is going to the game with high hopes.  Unfortunately for him, the Irish will win big.

ND-35

MSU-21

I think this game will reveal a lot about both teams.

I got the Spartans.

Irish are an emotional wreck. They will get ambushed early. They'll recover, catch back up and maybe even win, but the game wont get outside the number

Book It

Besides, I always root for the Big 10 in these spots, especially against Notre Fucking Dame.

People drool over this ND offense and front 7 on defense. I think its very possible that South Florida might not be that great, and we are in a new system altogether ... with a lot of square pegs and sub-par talent (by our standards). What we DO know is that Cousins is very good, and he's surrounded by good skill players. Their D can't be worse than ours.

I think an over-hyped 0-2 ND Team (didnt know that was possible) gets shredded by Cousins. I also think Cierre Wood will do more than Floyd/Rees.

I passed on it on my card because so many things point to ND winning, except for the thought that MSU is a better team overall and I think Kelly is in over his head.

I think ND falls flat after its "biggest game of the year" so far that went horribly wrong for them.  MSU struggles covering Floyd and he gets more yards and TD's than he got against Michigan, but Dantanio has another trick up his sleeve and pulls this one out late.

MSU 37
