The non-alumni fan argument would be a valid point if this were 1915... but we've moved so far beyond the idea that these teams represent strictly their university... schools like Ohio State and Nebraska are representing their state just as much as their school. Hell, even State is trying to get in on that act.
If State fans have such a massive issue with it, they can gladly turn away all those non-alum basketball fans who pack the Palace to watch them play a few times a season.

I was in the office following the Spartina game online and shut it down after the CHIPS missed the two-point conversion. Got a text from my best buddy (a Spartina die heard) saying "oh fuck". Called him and got the update of the onside kick and got to rub it in in real time. Priceless! He wouldn't even answer his phone during the UM game! Gotta love little brother! GO BLUE!
