It was obvious when it happened but seeing it again, I'm just, like, wow man. I hope this was the nadir of the program. I can't fathom sinking any deeper.

This is ridiculous. She should retire immediately - totally unacceptable behavior. If this were due to a legitimate medical condition, I'm sure it would have been disclosed to the University community by now and especially so to the Board of Regents. I've never been fond of MSC before, but I can't stand her now.

This is actually pretty worrisome. Isn't it more likely that she was having some kind of neurological issue? She's never been known to have problems with substance abuse. She's been president for over ten years now, so if she had a penchant for getting hammered on the job, there would have been other incidents by now.

The funny thing is, is that if Dave Brandon had noticed her condition, kept the mic, and given a generic "Thank you Mary-Sue" speech, I guarantee some people on this board would bitch about how he's "hogging the spotlight, and making it all about himself"

I legitimately thought she was having/just had a minor stroke, it was that awful. Everyone in my section was laughing and commenting on the likelihood of her being hammered but to me it sounded like more than just that.

Ever think this lady was forced to drink because of the predictable play calling by Borges? She was probably forced to drink every time we lined up in I form and lost yardage.

And as she was wobbling off the field (nobody was helping her, exactly, although it looked like about four different people were expecting to catch her) she was sort of dancing.  It was weird.  Looked like a drunk sorority girl wearing her boyfriend's letter jacket; it was about four sizes too big.

Man I saw the thread earlier about this, but holy shit.  If there was no medical condition involved and just alcohol, I am pretty sure MSC probably doesn't remember halftime at all. That is beyond tanked speech patterns.

For comparision purposes commencement speech by MSC

Because I cringe too much when things get really awkward.  This is why I have trouble getting through episodes of Curb Your Enthusiasm, even though I love the show.

Drunk as a skunk.

That very fundraising campaign that you mentioned may have been the origin of this episode.  There was a big private party for major donors inside Crisler on Saturday morning.  I, uh, wasn't invited; I expect that maybe there was an open bar.

Yeah great timing with this new fundraising campaign. I think I will donate a dollar for every positive rushing yard Michigan is able to gain.

and MSC wasn't there anyway. But I've seen her at several of these events, some of which do have open bars, and one of which was on NYE, and I've never even seen her have one drink. Sadly I think a stroke is a more likely explanation than drunkenness.

-Something confusing her acoustically?  Health issue?

-No one told her ahead of time?  If so, way to throw someone under the bus.

I searched for video of the event since it was described by others and, now that it is found, I am disgusted unless there is an absolving medical condition at play. I can appreciate MSC will soon be retired but WTF. This address was vile and unworthy of a top global university, if medical condition applicable then shame on those who released her into the wild. Horrible, what's next, a publicly-shared joint with Gordon Gee?

Sheesh. The old girls' club displaying its hand? Sebelius for dean of engineering or health? Shame.
