landing spot. will be interesting to see how he does.
Motor City/Little Caesars/PizzaPizza Bowl Open Thread
I have a strong feeling they will run all over CMU.
I've been wrong thus far. CMU is looking pretty good right now.
Would rather be at the game! Was thinking about heading down there but the weather made me think twice about that.
Just see some other teams play. Sheridan would have been a good excuse to go to this one. But the weather blows. I know Kentucky isn't tropical either, but man bad enough these teams have to go to Detroit for a bowl game. Now they're going to get snowed in.
a LOT of empty seats.
Doing a little early scoutin' for the 2013 opener.
I predict pizza pizza
Should pay attention to Eric Fisher, LT from CMU. He may get drafted in 1st round.
Also, keep an eye out for Andrew Jackson. He's short and well built ILB who can stuff the running game.
Better enjoy college football while it lasts. It's a long offseason. I'm taking in every game I can.
I dunno, I really enjoy them. They may not be the best display of good football, but they're often still entertaining and I get to see teams I would not otherwise watch.
You could be out seeing Les Mis.
Damnit. M-Wolv beat me to it
Someone needs to tell WKU's interim coach to lay off the caffeine.
Oh yay. Jemele Hill is here.
It's still the motor city bowl to me dammit!
Still Tiger Stadium to me. Drives my 12 year old nuts.
They said on the radio today that tickets on StubHub were going for $90+. Too late to verify, but wow.
90 cents would be more believable. The crowd looks sparse. Didn't they give away tickets to the MACtion Championship? I'd guess that this would be similar...
The whole Cass Tech team went to the MAC title game. Mike Weber (2015 RB) tweeted there were more people at their State Championship game then at the MAC game.
It's a little closer for Cass Tech than NIU or Kent St. The MAC championships always struggle for filling the stadium. I've gone to the last three for NIU
Noticed the Chrysler, Buick, Ford & UAW logos on the 25yd lines. Pizza Bowl showing it's roots to it's past as the Motor City Bowl.
Lol WTF was that safety doing? He ran right passed the WR, after he caught it! Possibly the worst angle I've ever seen taken.
Yeesh that was some awful defense. 7-0 chips
I believe this is what the kids call MACtion.
Mighty creative play call right there Sheridan
7-7. 70 yard double pass sets it up.
But biffs tackles badly and commits penalties. Frustrating.
Shootout time. 14-7 CMU.
probably the play of the game, should probably go back to my novel.
I like CMU's RB Zurlon Tipton. He's a kid who wanted to come to UM, and I was hoping we'd give him an offer but we never did. He's turning in to a really good MAC tailback.
Yeah, he's pretty good at fighting for that extra couple yards.
But as cold predictions (which is not what they do) the lines have been awful this bowl season. Arizona near double digit fav in a game they probably should have lost. Utah St should have been an even bigger favorite. BYU wasn't even a FG fav. Ball St lost by a lot more. Fresno was an 11 point fav and lost by 30. And W. Kentucky isn't looking like a 5+ point favorite.
HOLY ONE HANDED GRAB
Nice snag for a te
What a catch! TD WKU!
Again, all Sheridan
CMU's jerseys are a beaut... /s
At least our shoulders don't look like that
I'm not very familiar with CMU. Who are they losing on this team after the game?
Their qb, left tackle, strong safety, and wr. That's all I can remember off the top of my head at the game.
I will say that I did like how the footballwas batted away on the Hilltoppers' last drive, almost as if Andrews said, "RUN! RUN!" as he hit it.
Also, is it just me or is passing just not working for the most part in the past few minutes for either team? The sack of Jakes reminded me that being able to attack a defense through the air is sometimes taken for granted.
EDIT: The CMU offensive line needs to not make Ryan Radcliff block his own pass attempts. Sack, fumble, recover own fumble. Interesting play, but that's a lot to ask of your QB.
It seems like the Hilltoppers are outplaying them but keep stumbling over themselves.
Nick Sheridan is looking pretty good up in the booth.
and camera pan to him in the booth
Review does not overturn near fumble on TD over-the-top, up-the-middle
Questionable call, when they showed the view from above it looks like the WKU runner lost possession just before breaking the plane. Tough though.
Right in front of me. Clear fumble. Awful call
At first I was fairly confident in the call, but definitely felt the Chips got robbed after seeing a few reviews. He didn't really have possession.
The play was reshown in slow-motion on tv. Looked like the ball was in his hands win the tip broke the plane
The side view showed the ball clearly out of his hands about a football length into the end zone without a clear jolt causing it. But you couldn't tell whether it was coming out before or after the goal line.
Sometimes you need someting to push the action. The Chips will get that TD back.
I think I can...I think I can...
& go for it
against the non-Michigan coached WKU defense.
Sheridan's Offense 21, scoring against Michigan alums 0
GO FOR IT, ENOS.
GIVE EM THE SAFETY
Well, Central should have some mighty fine field position. Unless the Western Kentucky punter goes HAM again...
So, I can't tell. Did the refs screw CMU out of a TD and then a safety right there?
That's exactly what happened.
but bowl games are so meh anymore, it makes me sad to feel this way about football.
I know Sheridan is coaching WKU but I'm rooting for CMU cause I grew up in Mich, not KY
Or does Taco Pants younger brother play for CMU?
Obligatory Wes Welker reference.
obligations being obligatory
a well executed play, good for CMU
W. Kentucky is covering in this one.
Looked to me like the refs didn't much care for the challenge overturn on the last possession. Anytime a CMU reciever got touched by WK the flag got tossed.
On that long pass just there by W. Kentucky.
And a tackle by the ref.
if not so well played
impressed with Sheridan play-calling? Or is he just the QB coach?
We need a "Temporal Coordinator" position. Head coaches are clearly incapable of managing the clock.
and stupid play call
WTF WAS THE POINT OF THAT??
That was the dumbest playcall of all time.
Thanks for losing me 21 points you dumbasses!
HE HAD THE FIRST DOWN SHORT. HE THREW IT TO THE DEEPER TIGHT END WHO WAS COVERED. THAT WAS DUMB.
I didn't mind the decision. But damn. Congrats Chips.
Calling that timeout with 51 seconds left was idiotic. If they'd have simply run the play and saved that timeout, they would have had three left for CMU's possession.
Wow....would love to see the post game presser and here why he didnt kick the FG right there. That was one very questionable call to say the least.
You didn't give a fuck about these games?
I'm not really getting why you'd post ''Who gives a fuck about these games?'' earlier when you're in a bowl pick'em.
a little "Les Miserables"?
What do you mean today? The last bowl was the 24th.
his comments have been quite mystifying today
"Interim" is the only way Lance Guidry is ever going to have "head coach" in front of his name.
Dude, WTF are you doing? You cost your program the game and fans to suffer with the way you conducted that awful strategy and time mgmt, or lack there of.
central's next game will be a loss.
Lloyd Carr is presenting the trophy.
This could end up being the only game the MAC wins. USU hammered Toledo, and SJSU, playing BG today, is very close USU in talent level, despite losing to them pretty convincingly this year. FSU vs NIU is stacking up to be nothing more than a ceremonial sacrifice at the altar of bowl "logic."
Didn't BG have a pretty good showing agains Florida this year? I wouldn't count them out just yet.
