Most Likely META: Who Are Your Favorite MGoBloggers?

Submitted by LSAClassOf2000 on

JGB and I exchanged a few e-mails over the past few days about various OT (but also some META stuff) topics we could throw out there in lieu of the end of OT season (a mere 27 hours or so from now) and one that came up was this - who are your favorite MGoBloggers?

There are many people who post often, some who post left often, but many people contribute knowledge and insight which I think shows that this is indeed one of the most well-rounded fanbases out there. Indeed, this blog has unique resources as we have a fair number of regular contributors who were / are players and coaches at various levels and that makes this blog a place where I think you can indeed learn something new about your faovrite sports on most days. In my mind that already puts it at a level few other such blogs out there seem to reach consistently.

So, among those folks who contribute their experience, technical knowledge, humor, GIFs, etc...who stands out in your mind? Of course, such threads demand a certain amount of sarcastic wit, but that's what makes them entertaining.

You might see a few such threads like this tomorrow. As I mentioned in my diary the other day, now is your chance to get this out of your system, so your mods thought we would get some of it out of our system.

thanks and you would be on the list, no doubt.   and  my other favs are similar to yours (and a # of others), include LSA2000, s.coyote, and magnus b/c he shares a lot of info that is both interesting, and was painstakingly gathered in most instances.   fav mod would be justin, who apparently took the summer off but with football on our doorstep has reacquainted himself with his computer.   i know i'm forgetting more than one though, and i'll remember in the next week or two and say, 'oh yeah, that dude/dudette' and wish i could tack them on and give them a prop.

incidentally, with all this cyber-community kum-by-ya going on, can someone tell me why there isn't something like an annual (or even every home game) mgotailgate gig or bbq scheduled.   anyone who would show up would have to have a pic of their avatar stuck to their forehead and all, but putting actual real faces to names would be a kick.

have a great weekend you all and go blue.   T-minus 7 days and counting!

Brian - cuz obviously Seth-cuz he's a good guy Magnus-never understood the knock on him. Space yote-knowledge MGrowOld-we connect on an old dudes kinda way. BiSB-he makes me think sometimes. Not always a bad thing LSAClassof2000 - steady eddy Wolverine Devotee - because he's a kid with tons of passion for M football And a many many others.

Yeah, unlikely you've read anything of mine. I don't post very often. By the time I have time to, numerous folks have already said it all. I don't have time in my life to get deep into the X's and O's, in-depth analysis, etc. to the point that I'd post a lengthy diary or something like that. I only really posted in this thread because I think it's a little silly to have yet another 'who's your favorite MGoPoster' thread. This is at least the third one since I first signed on. I guess tons of kudos in the comments and tens of thousands of MGoPoints aren't enough to stroke people's egos. But what do I know? It sure seems to be a popular topic. So I don't post much. But I read the blog daily because I'm at least as big a Michigan fan as anyone here, and also an alum.

As for Mr. Forcier...  he's a bit of a nutcase for sure, but his performance in the ND game from which my avatar pic was taken was inspiring... not to mention one of the few-and-far-between happy days in the Rich Rod era. So I made it my avatar and never got around to changing it.

I'm not sure I'd make it through the offseason without his YouTube channel and tribute vids.

Other than that, I tend to forget who posts what other than the coaching types and Section One's epic rants.  I used to like the comments of the dude whose avatar was the Northwestern kitty throwing a punch (can't remember his name).

I like people who spell and write well with some humor and a little insight.  I like the funny smartassess, but not the dickish smartasses.  On the whole, there is a higher proportion of "good ones" on this blog than any sports site (or most non-sports sites) I know.

Really dislike people who call out and demean individual players.  Legitimate football critiques are one thing, but you know what I mean.  The players are out there representing Michigan, trying their best, and not getting paid for it (different thread, that).

Unfortunately, I can't remember who does that, either.  I need to start tatooing my MGoBlog shitlist to my forearm Memento style or something.

You know what would be an awesome functionality on this blog?  A counter that lets you see which users you've upvoted/downvoted the most frequently.

MGoBlog.  Reasonable people sharing an unreasonable obsession.

Because of the great reference to Memento and sentiment. But I always get get a laugh when commenters call out spelling and then spell a word wrong themselves ("tatooing"). Honestly, with the nature of the internet, it doesn't bug me much.

Not sure if I'm being a funny or dickish smartass here but I'm hoping to have my name and/or avatar ink'd on your arm as that would be hilarious.

RDT And favorite RDT moment was when another blog site hired a new writer and that writer's first interview was of RDT...it turned out they were the same guy.

SpaceCoyote, Seth, Magnus, Raoul, and BiSB, in no order. I also really like the writer of the best of and worst of diary.

All provide and add value to the board and to the community. Thank you

unless he's talking tickets. I have also found everyone murders pretty funny lately. My all time fave is LSA. The real one, not the imposter. He uses full sentences, never has spelling errors, and explains everything for morons like me!

For content and intelligent commentary: MGoShoe and WolverineHistorian

For over the top devotion (which is a good thing): Wolverine Devotee (make sure you hit the books at college this fall young man).

For hockey content and threads: Center Ice and Gordon Berenson (much appreciated guys)

For pure entertaining commentary of late: Carlos Spicyweiner

Simply because its moronic and everyone needs some moron every once in a while: I'll give you some love  GROOT

Honorable mention to you Lord Grantham. Sometimes I think you move a little too close to smarmy but usually I find you funny.

finally......I am jealous of your avatar Sopwith.

Magnus sticks out. I always seem to enjoy his posts. I can't think of other names, but there's so many entertaining people on here it's hard to remember everyone.

Space Coyote and Steve Sharik. Magnus, too, but I'm not a huge recruiting guy.

Mgrowold, now that Borges is gone. Mgobrewmom. TheLastHoke seems to think like I do. Brown Bear is funny. Zone Left. Real Tackles Wear 77. Everyone Murders.

I have a competition in me. I want no one else to succeed. I hate most people. There are times when I look at MGoBoarders and I see nothing worth liking. I want to earn enough MGoPoints I can get away from everyone.

But, really. I'm a Don and Magnus kind of guy.

BisB (Bizzzzzbeeeeee) is by far my favorite. Nobody can snark like him. Jdon's avatar cracks me up and creeps me out at the same time. Magnus because I'll bet he's super cuddly.

Many of the above mentioned I do like - WolveInLA, Don, Timaaaaaay (I haven't kept track of the number of a's he uses), Magnus etc.  Chunks the Hobo was hilarious in the haloscan days, but really doesn't post much anymore.  I apprecaite all of the effort that LSAclassOf2000 does managing the site.

But I do miss Purple Stuff's input.  Unfortunately, he seldom posts anymore.

and so little chance to name them all, so I'll start with one I admire/pick on/laugh at/throw crap at/enjoy/mentor all at the same time: ChobaniBoy (a.k.a.Wolverine Devotee).  Such devotion to and enthusiasm for Michigan, while some times as annoying as a fucking mosquito.  Well on his way to being corrupted by the whole bunch of us, judging from the progressively increased "edginess" of some of his recent posts.  All while being the #1 salesman for  M Den, I can see why he hasn't had the time to discover wimmin yet...

I also want to mention how much I enjoy the input of the U of M Baseball/Softball/Hockey/Tigers crowd that keeps those non football/basketball threads enjoyable:  MGoSoftball, Raoul, WMUgoblue, Justingoblue, DKohn81, MGoGrendel,  SouthBendWolverine, Gordon Berenson, Center Ice,  (and several others whose usernames don't immediately come to mind).   'Voltron is Handsome' just doesn't get it!

I've been jotting down the names of many favorite posters I've seen or remembered over the last 24 hours, ever since last night when this thread first appeared.

Roll Call (in no particular order, because I'm gonna save my B1G until the end):

....I know there has to be at least another 20-30 particular MGoUsers who I enjoy equally to those named above.

The B1G (also not in any particular order):

MGoBrewMom---you get an upvote from me nearly every post, love your attitude and taste for beer.

Quiverfull---I envy your "pioneer" lifestyle and common sense approach to life.  If I had to do it all over again in life, well, I'd be foolish not to at least try doing it your way!

Muttley---one of the best at snarkiness and poking at those who deserve it.

Space Coyote---quite possibly the most consistantly informative of the football experts, I read everything and anything you post (regardless of subject, always good stuff)!

Wolverine Historian---fighting and winning the battle to keep videos free for all of us!!!

Everyone Murders---I don't know if I've ever disagreed with anything you've posted.

OMG Shirtless---you need to post more.  Please.

BiSB---sneaky funny at times but always worth my time to read

DarkerBlue---love your dark humor

triangle_M---another "can't-miss" poster

Erik_in_Dayton---proves single-handedly that there is intelligence in Ohio.

WMUgoblue---best Detroit Tiger expert on here!

turd ferguson---nobody is as good at saying a lot with just few words, and funny, too.  Favorite userpic!

and both "Don" and "MGrowOld"---probably my two favorite among the many in my age group.

That's 15, isn't it---am I allowed to jump the gun on the next round of B1G expansion?
