Most important 2012 recruits

Submitted by mcfly127 on

So, with this year's recruiting cycle basically over, our attention will soon shift towards the 2012 class.  At this time last year we were all already identifying prospects that we must get for this year's class.  Some included Anthony Zettel, Dee Hart, and then later in the process other prospects emerged as must-gets like Kris Frost and Chris Bryant.  Sure there were others and my point isn't to debate as to which 2011 recruits were most important.  Rather, which recruits in the 2012 class will be considered as the must-gets.  Early candidates in my estimation would seem to include Jordan Diamond, James Ross, RJS, Dan O'Brien, and Chris Wormley (mostly because I live in Toledo and would love to see him go blue).  I just wonder how my list would compare to yours and also how likely you think we are in getting our so-called must-gets for this year.

O'Brien, Diamond, Wormley, Godin (Probably), The Cass/OLSM trio.

And Zeke Pike, only because I'll never get tired of saying that kid's name.

I feel Zeke Pike is the biggest in my opinion. Lets face it, mattison is going to be a god send as a coach and a recruiter. I want to see hoke go out and get a big time offensive guy. I want to see us win a battle against the likes of florida and bama. Pike is probably a 5 star and if we get him, Im going to be pumped and it will be a huge win for hoke.

I'm from the toledo area and have heard hoke was on wormley the week he was hired. good sign I hope. Kenny hayes needs to get out of town and lose his number when he does. sounds like hes been recruiting him hard to come to osu. on the plus side wormley is a diehard u of m fan from what i have heard so thats a good sign.

a huge year instate and we seem to be the favorites for a bunch of the kids. If we can grab almost all of them it would be a great foundation for our class as a whole. This year Michigan doesn't have to fly to California or Texas or Florida to get a linebacker or corner and try to convince them to leave home.

How can I avoid downvotes?

Don't be redundant. Don't use stupid nicknames like O$U. Spell things correctly. Don't post useless replies like "I agree" and whatnot.

What happens when I get huge numbers of negative points?

I get dinged and I check your profile out to see if you're pure troll or not, and ban appropriately.

Just wanting to know, what positions will be the most heavily recruited in the 2012 class? I know DT will be a focus point but what other positions? Thanks.

I would die to have this kid and a great education would be great but i feel the kiffin hostess will probably be more appealing to a kid whose had it this rough. I hope im wrong

I'd be happy with Diamond, Ross, Cass Tech trio, O'Brien, Wormley, and Pike making the core of our class. And then throw in the entire 2012 current offer board on banner blog.

looked at very many 2012 recruits yet, but the one guy I like is offensive tackle nacho garcia. He's 6-6, 340 with offers from LSU and florida, with interest in michigan. I can only imagine how much of a monster this kid is going to be after a year in a college level strength and conditioning program.

Eddie Goldman is a 6-3, 290 lb DT from the DC area. He has already been listed as a 5* by scout, and has offers from all of the big players, Michigan included. With Mattison's recruiting ability and connections to the east coast, as well as players such as Countess from that area to help with recruitment, this should be a player to hope for. Think of him, O'Brien and Wormley as DL recruits for 2012. That would be beyond impressive.

Here are some other kids who Scout says that UM has offered:

Deaysean Rippy - 6-2 200lb OLB from PA 4*

Elijah Shumate - 6-1 195lb S from NJ 4*

Latroy Pittman - 6-1 185lb S from FL 3*

D.J. Singleton - 6-3 195lb S from NJ 3*

Zach Banner - 6-9 295lb OT from WA 4*

D.J. Humphries - 6-5 261lb OT from NC 4*'

Bennie Coney - 6-1 205lb QB from FL 3*

Dwayne Stanford - 6-4 200lb WR from OH 3*

Sean Price - 6-4 210lb TE from FL 3*

This is along with all others who have been listed. These are very early for stars, and none of the sites have release their early player rankings yet. I am happy to see that we are looking at S and OT, along with DT as those seem to still be our areas of need. Overall, it looks like we are spreading out offers all over the country and should be in on some good players early on.
