The most annoying sports fan you know...

Submitted by FabFiver5 on

Does anyone know a fellow Michigan "fan" who thinks they know everything about sports, yet in truth they know next to nothing?

There's a guy who works for my company who constantly talks about Michigan football and tries to spread his insight because he has a "friend who works in the athletic department." Who knows if it's true. But if he does, that friend is an idiot and feeds him garbage.

Last year, he told me that MSU wanted to get rid of Kirk Cousins because he was a "bad influence on the team." Yesterday, he struck up a conversation with me and went on and on about Michigan's "Coach Holt" and "Gerard Robinson." Recently he told me that Boise is going to pound MSU. I asked him why...the response:

  • "They have that great quarterback." ME: "Kellen Moore? He plays for the Lions now."
  • "Oh, but they have a good RB too." ME: "Doug Martin? He plays for the Buccaneers now."
  • "Yeah, but they have that Titus guy." ME: "He plays for the Lions too."

Does anyone else run into people like this? I must admit that I sometimes find joy in my conversations based on the absurdity that comes out of his mouth. Other times, it's just downright painful to listen to.

Is your definition of relevant just Ws or Ls?  No bowls, no NCs?  Because I enjoy your fanbase's definition of when it suits you.  I also enjoy when you label our schedule a "cupcake" then go ahead and play every Michigan directional school, then add Air Force and soon to be Hawaii?  Go on, don't break your arm while patting yourself on the backs.

Over your arbitary "last 25 years" that Michigan doesn't equal or surpass ND in. You're closer to arguing that you've done better than Michigan State than you are Michigan, and another couple of good years from MSU and that may be a debate.

I honestly don't know any like that, but I do have this friend who went to UM but gets ALL his information from the WWL and seems to think it is gospel.  It's annoying because he thinks their information trumps anything local, as if local media would know less about a team than a national outlet.  And I try to have discussions with him and I bring things up that ESPN would never report and he blows it off like it must not be real because it wasn't on ESPN.

MGoBlog user: That one guy at the office with all the Michigan gear that calls himself a fan but can't even pick out Denard Robinson's childhood house on Google Maps.

Regular fan: That one guy at the office who sits on his PC all day on that stupid message board and has a bout of tourrets each day at 3:35 for no apparent reason...

Well my girlfriend is an Ohio St. fan despite her whole family being Michigan fans. Even worse, she couldn't tell you who their QB is, who their coach is, or anything whatsoever about their history. She basically just does it because she knows how much it pisses me off (and her dad). Then, last year, when we won the big one, she comes in with the whole, "I don't even like football routine". Basically the most annoying thing ever, especially cause she's NOT a sportsfan.

The asshole OSU or MSU "fans" that live in Ann Arbor and only come out to taunt you when their team wins. When they lose they "never really cared that much anyway." Assholes.

hate Minnesota "fans." If they were true fans, then fine, cause their team has sucked since the dawn of forward passes, but to all those people that suddenly remembered that the Golden Gophers are a D-1 team in 2005, F*$+ you!

In case you can't tell, I'm from Minnesota.

Alabama fans to me are the worst. Maybe its because I grew up there, but man they have some that are just horrid. Especially if you listen to Finebaum. But you know there are fans like that with every team and every sport.

I had a customer in Alabama once that named his son Bear and his daughter Bama.  Whenever I would travel to Alabama, I had to listen to how great Alabama football is.

Mind you, this was back in the early 2000's.  'Bama was not 'Bama back then.  I think they went something like 40-34 between 2000-2005.  Listening to him, you would have thought they were back-to-back-to-back-to-back-to-back champions.  I can only imagine how bad it is now.

I thought this was going to be about DameFan1's newest internet sensation video. I'm dissappointed, I can't wait to see his preview for M/ND 2012. He brings some good and reasonable points to the table every time he posts one...

I am not sure why, but nearly all of my friends who went to MSU argue relentlessly about nearly anything. They won't accept facts and just argue for the sake of arguing. Last year when we went to the BCS bowl I nearly went insane arguing with them about why we got to go and not them. It took years off my life. Possibly decades.

A ton of people from my high school went to State, and I actually lost some friends because of it. They turned into loud douches with a need to be the center of attention, as if they suffer from a giant inferiority comples (which, to be fair, they do). To top it off, most actually got dumber after high school, which should say something.

I don't know. I lost a lot of respect for MSU after my freshman year (2007) at Michigan. I don't even root for them any more when they don't play us; it makes me ill.

This is the exact world I live in. Tons of friends who are Spartys, never said much besides "We party more" or call themselves Thug State prior to 2007. Now they are the most obnoxious people on earth. Almost daily I get an email about State owning Michigan. That part is hard to swallow, but they have won 4 years in a row. The worst part is how they talk about their depth, red shirting all frosh cause their players are so good, their experience, Maxwell is Cousins crossed with Vick & Brady, etc. They are literally fucking delusional about their program. I'm pretty sure my one buddy, who is smart and wise with sports, thinks they have depth like Bama/ LSU. He's off his rocker.

I live in Columbus and theres this Ohio State guy, he's black rides around in this car that decked out with Ohio state stuff. He even paints parts of his body to drive around! The worst part is I was walking home from school one day about two years ago and the asshole through a snow ball at me because I had a Michigan Hoodie and hat on. Smh, He pisses me off.
