Morning Open Thread: Notre Dame vs Navy

Submitted by Zone Left on

Let's count the ways this doesn't make sense.

  1. 9am EST kickoff. By the time the West Coast rolls out of bed, the game will be over.
  2. No five star tailbacks in Ireland.
  3. Jetlag and other distraction slows preparation for Week 2.
  4. Seriously Navy, you're an American service academy playing a game in Ireland?
  5. The jerseys.

Edit: The jerseys are not being worn today, but they still suck.

Doing us proud and showing what Michigan is all about. Though I miss how much Erin Andrews loved Hoke. Oh, and fuck Chris Fowler.

After talking to Hoke he was all like "I don't know that Hoke should be getting any credit; DUI is serious." But you can bet the next game he covers where some program is playing guys who did something wrong, or a dirty program, you won't hear a peep from him. He's a hypocrite and a coward.

But that's what all of us said once Fitz got the DUI.  We all said "This is a no-brainer: he should be suspended", and that's what writers in general stated.  Now, if an ND guy did the same and Kelly doesn't suspend him for the first game, it may be true that Fowler doesn't say anything, but I think he may make one of his common sarcastic replies making fun of that program.

Because it's a no-brainier at Michigan. But it's not hardly true of college football. I didn't see him saying after the Urban Meyer is a Family Man segment "well, yeah, he shouldn't go back on his word to his family...like he was a month after quitting." Or see him chiming in on "yeah, Saban has all that depth replacing his stars...because he signs more than anyone else." If he's going to be a blind cheerleader or the voice of reason, he should at least be consistent. It was unnecessary.

Does it seem like teams are putting the ball somewhere between the 5 and the 1 on kickoffs? We may get to see Norfleet in action tonight after all. Brian should be especially pleased.

ND has a good OLine.

Navy has an undersized front 7..

ND's secondary looks suspect and their D-coordinator knows it; lots of soft zone.

The ND D-line without Lynch doesn't look all that good.

Michigan's D-line needs to draw against the ND O-line.

Denard and Fitz will be running wild against the ND defense.

If Michigan has any semblance of a passing game, maybe a long day for the Irish.

I have more confidence in the Michigan offensive line opening up holes for Denard and Fitz, than I did Navy's smaller, less talented offensive line opening up holes for a slower option QB, and smaller, slower RBs.

No disrespect to the Middies (I live 20 miles away from Annapolis) but they aren't on the same level as the Michigan football team.

Meh.  I think I'm going to turn this game off.  But I would first like to say fuck Brian Kelly and fuck Notre Dame.

I'm sure as soon as this game is over, Lou Holtz will say ND is officially national title contenders.
