Morgan Trent? From the Detroit News

Submitted by RedGreene on
• Morgan Trent, former U-M cornerback, played one year under Rodriguez: "I'm not surprised because I know what happened, and I know what kind of rules were broken. I couldn't see how they were going to get out of that. "Whatever steps need to be taken (to restore Michigan's winning tradition), I'm all for it. What is happening right now obviously is not working. I don't know how long they're going to let this last until changes are made. This year is going to be the tell-all what's going to happen. We can't have three losing years in a row. Not at Michigan. To lose seven of last eight games (in 2009) is an embarrassment." http://www.detnews.com/article/20100223/SPORTS0201/2230443/1361/Lloyd-C…

Is there a difference between posters on this board and people, like Trent, who have the ability to just call Rich Rodriguez and get a meeting? trent could have easily called Lloyd or Brandon or Rodriguez and professionally stated his concerns in a meeting. He could have invited his hot mom ever. Instead, he went outside the family to the media. That, Magnus is "pissing on your alma mater".

It's a sign of immaturity to tear down someone/something like he's doing IMHO. If you aren't happy then let the failures of the last 2 season of Wolverine Football speak for themselves. I wonder if he has even given any thought to being an involved alumnus in the same way that former USC players are on the sidelines or if he's content to throw vitriol from a distance.

Sarcasm alert! Weren't you the one earlier who was referring to Long, Hart and Henne must suck too if you base careers on one game performances(ergo Rose Bowl '07)? In your 'defense' of Trent or whatever you wish to call it, you enabled the Long, Henne, Hart discussion in the thread. : P

the ultimate fold during and after illinois was more epic fail and embarrasment than even appy state. that team recovered and came back. granted more talent, just sayin'. trent said nothing that isn't accurate. bad timing -- yes. but he's a talented guy who played hard and well. not his fault the defensive staff his last year was borderline incompetent.

Can't agree with that. Appy St. was the worst. In fact, the sequence from Bo passing, then 2006 at OSU, Urban cryin', 'SC Rose Bowl fold, ASU and Oregon is simply unparalleled. I dislike the losing the last two years passionately but the problems the team faces are not just issues emerging during RR's tenure. I'd rather Trent not say those things but he's his own man. Doesn't mean I have to like it NFL or not. Btw, Illinois had actually beat us pretty badly in '08 with same base talent. Yes, the Illini were not a good team in '09 and yes we folded, but we knew we had holes last year and we were not that good. Appy St. should never have happened. We were ranked 5 in the nation going in. The shock and awe of the horror still resonates but then again I live in Atlanta so get to deal with ASU fans now and then. Believe me, I hear about still albeit in a friendly fashion most of the time.

Aside from the questionable first sentence, nothing in that quote is inaccurate or particularly incendiary. That second paragraph is spot-on; he's not saying fire Rich Rod, he's saying do what needs to be done to win (granted, he's probably implying fire Rich Rod).

Dear Morgan, You could have been one of the worst starters, as well as captains that U of M has had. You not only were burned by every wideout in the big ten, you could not tackle. All in all the only reason you were drafted was because you ran a good forty time. When I see the number 14 on a Michigan jersey I think of pure suckiness!

make me sick. morgan trent played substantially on one of the best pro teams in the league, he gave his heart to the team for 5 years, and after he speaks out against a coach that everyone here is enamored with for some strange reason he is painted as some traitor.
