More than a week without the Freep

Submitted by allinforM on

Removed from my favorites list, no clicks, no paper copies. Feels awesome. I always dreaded the doom that would pop up on that site daily. Do not miss it ONE BIT!

Not sure if we should congratulate the original poster, or ask him what took so long?

I removed that link the day they broke their stupid story. Any visits to their site since then are solely the result of posters around here making their typical "OMG EVERYBODY LOOK WHAT THE FREEP WROTE NOW" posts.

Usually I avoid them, but sometimes there will be five threads like that in a row, which leads me to become grouchy.

Has to do with their Joint Operating Agreement, which originally came about in the late 1980s... originally called for a combined News/Freep publication on Sundays. A few years ago, the Freep started publishing its own Sunday edition again, with very little Detroit News content.

since the dreaded practice hours article came out. Once you stop reading it, you realize how crappy of a paper it really is. You can get all the local news from detnews.com, and all your UM stuff right here!

When I politely emailed several people at the Freep legitimate questions that no one answered and they gave the run around on in print I knew it was a rag. I haven't been back on the website and won't.

More than a week? I've never been a big MSM guy, but with that said, I've never really read the Freep even online and they only blipped on my radar because of Jihad. The only thing that could be held against me is that my wife likes Mitch Albom's books (Tuesdays with Morrie, 5 people you meet in heaven, etc.). Other than that, I could care less if the Freep went under.
