In addition to Rich Rodriguez, John Beilein, and Don Nehlen, I learned tonight watching the Stanford game that Andrew Luck's father is a former WVU QB alum who played under Nehlen and sent his son to play for Harbaugh. And this past summer, Luck's father was named the new Athletic Director at West Virginia. Strange.
More ties that bind Michigan and West Virginia...
This from Espn in reference to total points in a Michigan game:
Today's game surpassed even a massacre for the ages: Michigan's 130-0 win against West Virginia in 1904.
Also, many more records broken today:
Michigan-Illinois records * 132 combined points: most in FBS this season * 132 combined points: most in any Big Ten conference game in conference history * 65 points by Illinois: most allowed in Michigan school history * Illinois: 65 points is 2 shy of FBS record for most by losing team (9th-most points scored in school history) * Michigan: allowed 40+ pts in back-to-back games for 1st time in school history * Roy Roundtree: Michigan school-record 246 rec. yards (1st to break 200 in a game) * Mikel Leshoure: 5 total TD for Illinois (tied for 2nd-most in a game in school history) * 1,237 total yards: most in a game in Michigan history * 676 yards by Michigan (4th-most in school history) * 561 yards allowed by Michigan (4th-most allowed in school history)
I saw all those *'s and thought they were going to all multiply to some Nostradamian number proving Denard's Dilithium-ness.
Its a streatch, but ok.
..the best stat from this game...................W....in as W for WIN
My grandpa is from West Virginia and he's a Michigan fan. So there ya go.
Do they record overtime games differently from ones which end in regulation. 42 points were scored in overtime which doesn't easily equate to other games this season. Not sure those records shouldn't have an asterisk.
Woah woah woah! My COUSIN went to WVU and she is from OHIO and also an OHIO STATE fan. I do not know if you know, but OHIO STATE and MICHIGAN are rivals, dating back to a LONG TIME AGO. This means that they do NOT enjoy the COMPANY of each other. I live in VIRGINIA and I am a MICHIGAN fan. This means that essentially, VIRGINIA and MICHIGAN have related ties.
I like talking like THIS.
