More Nik Stauskas Backyard Video
As follow up to yesterday's Nik Stauskas post, here's another one of the 2012 verbal commit in his backyard demonstrating his 3 pt shooting prowess.
As Dylan of UMHoops points out here, Stauskas:
...makes 95 threes in 5 minutes and 123 of 141 threes in 6 and a half minutes.
Pretty damn impressive.

....but again, let's see how he does in game situations. I hope he's as ice cold in nailing threes when he has defenders in his face and he has no time to set up. We'll all be stoked to have such a 3 pt threat.
Are you under the impression that making nearly 90% of your threes with no one in your face is easy? And the kid is 6'6. But you are right....I really hope he is a good shooter.

I'm not sure I've made 95 threes in my life, let alone in 5 minutes.

I did that last tuesday, then ate a french dip sandwich. I don't see Mr. Stauskas with Au Jus stains on his jacket....

I love it. I'm really excited about the way he grabs those rebounds or picks up the ones that have been made.. Then really nice passes back to that kid shooting the threes. We're getting a damn good player.
I guess I wouldn't complain if we got that kid that's shooting though..

is only made to look good by the tremendous rebounding and passing effort of his teammate. I counted 141 rebounds and 123 assists in six minutes and a half. Beat that!

Fred Newman is not impressed
But seriously the kid can shoot it. He is going to be a good one.

That sounds was Vogrich pooping his pants. Very impressive, although I have to wonder how many "shooters" are we going to fill our bench with. For every kid like this I want one Novak/C.J. Lee/Graham Brown. A grinder with a lot of heart and grit is essential in the game of college basketball.

Vogrich has gotten pretty gritty....
Sorry, I meant VoGRIT! Manbounds!
Seriously though I think to be successful your grit quotient has to be supplemented with these shooter types. C.J. Lee is a great guy and he was a great leader for Michigan but I don't think you have him playing major minutes on a Big Ten winning team.

I'm very excited about his game. Not only does this kid have a silky smooth stroke from the outside, but many of his game clips higlight his ability to score down low. I'm especially impressed with his ability to finish with his opposite hand in traffic. He's got some handle, so I think he will be more offensively versatile than the likes of Vogrich (and I'm a big Vogrich fan due to his energy and stroke).
90% 3-point shooting is simply amazing, even in a practice session. This guy should at least be a 40% 3-point shooter in game situations. Maybe he'll be the second coming of Jon Diebler and eclipse 50%. Nice get, JB.
