Leach says that you have to be smart enough to call heads or tails - as in you need no brain.  However, you also have to be smart enough not to call "kick off," because if you do you will likely end up kicking off at the start of both halves.  You must call "defer" if you want to start on defense.

Start the season by losing to an FCS team only to possibly finish up going 9-2 into the Apple Cup against a potentially undefeated Washington with a Rosebowl Berth (for Wazzu)/CFP Berth (for the Dawgs) on the line.

Classic Mike Leach season.

I get that Leach is a questionable character on some issues, but this is just funny. A college coach who doesn't take press conferences too seriously and says whatever is on his mind is a change of pace from most.
Not every team has a coach that talks about his love for whole milk, steak, and gives restaurant recommendations. Who's got it better than us? Noooobody.

Beat State.

Leach's personality aside, I love that you have these unique teams around the country.

Wazzou is a DANGEROUS pass happy team in the middle of nowhere, but they're getting it done. You have teams that run the triple option, air raid, etc.

I hate that in the NFL so many teams feel the need to be "pro style"...what does that even mean? College Football provides so many options. IMO, it's truly the perfect setup in sports.

I mean, I'm talking more about the fact that you can have a personality like Leach and be making millions of dollars to coach football.

Or you can be a literal human muppet, like Ed Orgeron, and string it along as a career. You don't see millionaire Coach O rolling around in a hummer in a low-rent Mississippi car dealership commercial, laughing his ass off like he farted in a bathtub, in the No Fun League.

Ergo: College football--the greatest game.

Love Mike Leach's personality but we shouldn't overlook what a great football coach he is. Texas Tech and Washinton State were both a mess before he arrived.

Please Purdue, hire Mike Leach to be your next Head Football Coach. I can already see him getting under Kirk Ferentz's skin or driving the rest of the Big Ten West coaches insane. It would be beautiful.
