More Kalis Rumors

I know this has been batted around a million times by now, but according to Scout, now it looks like Kalis' father is supporting him committing to UM right now, but others in his family are maintaining that he should prolong the process for one reason or another. I wish the kid luck in his decision-making and the process.

Bottom line:

Apparently Kalis' father

Apparently Kalis' father wants me to buy a subscription to Scout Premium. That's what the link says at least.

If anyone tells Kalis how much the people at Bucknuts hate him, at least he will have the consolation that they hate themselves a lot worse...

Will they at least continue

Will they at least continue with the beverage service? These pretzels are making me thirsty!

Btw, just curious, but do you mean to have the word "heroin" (as in the drug) in your sig line instead of "heroine" (a female hero) or is that some clever inside joke that is just going over my head?

I'd rather...

I'd rather see him commit when he and his family are 100% comfortable than I would see him commit quickly - though both would be nice.

Typically a family will

Typically a family will support a kid no matter where he choses.  I would like a quick commit so the family starts being more supportive.  That way, they will have less time to talk him out of it without feeling bad.

I'm assuming his family are Buckeye fans?

Way to rip on a kid's

Way to rip on a kid's parents?  Ever think they just want to make sure that their kid, not your kid, is making the best decision for his future?  Not everybody dreams of going only to michigan.  Maybe they just want to make sure he commits to the place he will for sure sign with in february.

That's not what I meant at

That's not what I meant at all.  I meant no disrespect or to "rip on a kids parents."  It's natural for people from a certain state to be fans of a certain team.  I'm referring more to the pressure friends and family are probably putting on him to either A) sign with the team that they're fans of (probably Buckeyes since that's where he lives), or B) to take his time and visit other schools which could potentially sway his decision to the point where he ends up elsewhere.  And by "family," I was referring more to extended family since his father supposedly supports his possible Michigan commitment.  Sorry, I should have specified.

Furthermore, I was saying that I support an early decision to give people that are close to him more time to be comfortable with it.

Example of what kind of thing I'm talking about:  Mealer grew up an OSU fan.  His father really wanted him to attend OSU.  Mealer fell in love with Michigan.  His father was disappointed at first but eventually came around and supported his sons decision.

Anything else, Mr. rman247?

I'm just saying I much rather

I'm just saying I much rather see him take visits if he needs too, and make sure he makes the right decision than commit now, and visit a school in January, because he and his friends weren't exactly sure that Michigan was the right school

Am I missing something in

Am I missing something in regards to the rating system? How does this comment constitute flamebait? I am fairly certain most people on this board would want him to be 100% before commiting.

I seriously doubt any family

I seriously doubt any family wouldn't support their child's decision to attend a top school with an elite tradition. Check that, Harvey Updike might not support his kids if they wanted to go to Auburn.

I think you're right about most families

I'm just thinking of the difference between "Kyle, I think it's great you chose Michigan" and "Kyle, I think it's great you chose Michigan, but are you sure you don't want to go see Alabama?"

As a father, I'd definitely

As a father, I'd definitely want my child to look at Michigan, but would support her wherever she wanted to go--even OSU.

As much as we like to talk up Michigan, for most people, graduating from a BCS level school is going to give them the opportunity to pursue what they want it they work hard and succeed.

As a Father...

I would support either of my sons decision to go anywhere but OSU. I feel that if you have a scholarship to attend that school in Ohio, the opportunities to attend another big time school should be there. I'd ask them not to break my heart! Furthermore, I'd proudly support the Spartans before I could ever decide to supoprt the Buckeyes!

Same here....

......even though my kids will turn 4 and 5 in the next couple months, if they get an offer from any school in Ohio, it better be Oberlin.

When Speilman's dad found out he was considering Michigan at one point in his recruitment, he told him he could never come back home if he went to the school up north. So, not all parents are rational, some take after thier idols (Woody).

I think it was an SI article,

I think it was an SI article, but man was that a depressing read. Interesting to see the affects of trouble or suffering in one's life and the connections one makes to cope with issues. Sometimes these connections go beyond rational thought and Harvey's fanaticism is now going to cost him big time.

Not down there

In Ohio, it isn't "Go Blue or Die." It's more "Go Blue and some ignorant Ohioan will firebomb your truck, kick your dog, and invite your mother to a nice steak dinner and NEVER CALL HER AGAIN"

This is one of those cases where I'd be cool if he was a silent commit for as long as he felt the need.  No reason to take that kind of abuse as a high school senior.

Absolutely

There are parts of Ohio where you don't commit to Michigan so much as you defect to Michigan.  I don't/won't blame Kalis, Dunn, or anybody else who decides he wants to go to Michigan but sits on that information for as long as possible.

Outside of Toledo..

.....is pretty much where saying "Go Blue" makes this "The Man Who Came In From The Cold" and you're on the wrong side of the Berlin Wall.

More Kyle Kalis rumors

A reliable source tells me he writes with his toes and at night he washes his socks in club soda to make his feet fizz to keep up his circulation. This bodes well for his footwork.

I couldn't figure out what you signature was for about 20 seconds.  Dude, that's awesome.  All it needs it a TVH bat light shining above the 'M".  Awesome!

Bucknuts Board

Spews with hate towards Kalis.  No matter what KK's decision is , we shall respect it. Will never lower myself to the clowns at BN.

Im glad someone else posted about reading the 247 boards.

I was having a look at the OSU 247 board and there are some reality denying ignorant people over there. It makes me sad for the state of society that there are people like that out there that apparently have the money to afford computers, internet access, and pay sites. Amazing.

They are so blinded

by their stupidity that they take this crap so seriously! These are 17 and 18 year old kids who just want to play football and get a quality education.  Who are we as fans to deny them that? Let the kids play where they want to play and cheer on your players and your team.  No need to hate these kids because of where they want to go to school, just ridiculous!!!!!!!!!!!!

Whatever...

Talking rationally to the insane is a waste of time.

I think Kalis really wants to come here.  I think he is just working it out in his head.  I mean, tough switch, going from OSU to Michigan in a few weeks or months.  And he knows there will be consequences...unfair, but true.

Let the kid take his time.  I have a feeling Hoke is partnering with them, and giving them the space they need to make the right decision for everyone.

Ohio State fans may just be the nation's worst

After living in Columbus for 20 years, I've seen the worst of OSU fan's behavior many times over.  They just can't conceive that a teenager would spurn Ohio State, especially to attend and play for Michigan.  Many Ohio State fans really do hate Michigan - both the university and the state.  I tell them in Michigan the Buckeye-Wolverine rivalry is not quite as foolishly intense there as it is here.  Of course the coaches on both sides must stoke the rivalry to get the players up for the big game, but Ohio State fans here in Columbus are nuts when it comes to Michigan.  Fickell (sorry - I mean fickle) fans here do not care that Ohio State screwed itself out a pretty solid future.  They only care about hating all that is Michigan, and hating anyone who doesn't share their hate.  KK, if he in fact does choose Michigan, is going to get roasted, but the young man and his family just might be up to the challenge.  I certainly pray they are - if he does commit to us.

I just came from that site and it was my first time ever on there. And it was just awful, purely evil fans and there exaggerations that they will still be big ten champs.I live in ohio and my friends tease me for liking michigan and I'm ok with that.I'm not okay with a bunch of cocky ass hillbillies running there mouths 24/7 and not caring about anyone elses opinion but there own.

That's something I don't

That's something I don't really understand, I won't be reading them in the near future (except of course for schadenfreude) They have a post about how much our defense sucks and we're full of Vinopals (I personally don't think Vinopal played bad last year) and they fail to see that they don't have an experienced coach, experienced QB and they lost 8 or so players on defense from last year, I really hope they implode badly

I don't think he can affort to prolong the process if he wants to play for Michigan.  OL will be filled up before the summer is over with.

Don't even...

Go to the bucknuts website. I've been frequenting that site now for a week and 1. I already feel dumber 2. A vast majority of the fans on that site are ignorant and intolerant - which makes trying to converse with them or have any sort of rational discussion with them essentially impossible and 3. Due to #'s 1 and 2 above, simply annoys me.  Hopefully Dunn will realize that O$U is going down and will join up in the blue revolution along with Strobel and Co.
