More jersey intrigue...

Submitted by Real Tackles Wear 77 on

Since the Fre*p leaked the "throwback jersey prototypes" I have been of the opinion that the stripey things could not possibly be the real thing, bolstered mostly by the NCAA bylaw that required jersey numbers be 8-10 inches etc. on both the front and back of the jersey. The recently released images would also not fit under this law.

So...my hope that we wouldn't be wearing what we saw today may yet prove true. For those of you who are fans of Michigan football on facebook, this:

may offer some hope. Also the phrasing "this may be Denard Robinson's "under the lights" jersey" could be a sign that DB is just screwing with us.

Also, for any other uniform enthusiasts out there, recall that the M-Den's track record for uniforms is less than stellar, if you remember the hockey uniform designs they had for sale for a few weeks (basically our maize alternate design in blue and in white) which everyone talked about before they went away and the jerseys didn't change at all.

I'm pretty sure the bylaw shouldn't be a problem. The team can make a petition to the NCAA to allow the jerseys for one game, and the NCAA would more be than likely to accept Michigan and ND's proposal for this game.

If they want to actually do it is another question. Hopefully the stitching on the numbers is gone.. and the stripes... I'd personally be ok with helmet numbers, though.

Awesome. I'd buy one.

When I walk around the mall with a Michigan jeresy on, nine times out of ten I'm not wearing a helmet.

Problem is, there is nothing on a Michigan jersey that says Michigan or even a block M. So if we have a big win and I want to strut around and show how cool I am because I'm wearing a Michigan jersey, most people don't know it.

This jersey solves that problem, with bad-ass style.

As we all know, these throwback jerseys are motivated by one thing - Adidas' desire to have another Michigan item to sell. It has nothing to do with "throwbacks" or tradition - just dollars and cents.

We are stuck with them for this year, but if we want to discourage abominations like this in the future, then we need to make this economically unappealing to Adidas and DB.

So do not but these jerseys. And tell your friends and family (and especially your teenage kids) not to buy them.
