From all accounts he's been a consistent performer.  He gives a sound backup and also somebody who if excels is a pro-style guy to smooth the transition to post DR offense going forward.  I think it is not as big of a chance putting DG on the field at WR where he is a significant threat.  He might even enjoy being out there much more albeit not in his orginal position.

I think the fact that Russell Bellomy looked really good this spring should calm some of our fears.  And again, maybe he'll just be a redzone threat or special package WR.  Let's not all freak out here, we need a WR with big play ability, and he's it.

I'm all for moving Gardner to WR this year, but I still believe he is our #2 QB if something happens to D. Rob, and will be our "opening day" starter in 2013.

Okay, so if a reporter asked Brady Hoke, "Are you establishing some offensive packages that feature Devin Gardner as a reciever?"  How do you suppose Hoke would answer?  If Hoke's answer was, "Well, Devin is our Number 2 at QB, and we will try to figure out ways to creatively both Devin and Denard into the offense," would Al Borges feel comfortable supplying more information than that?

And so are we comfortable with Devin Tweeting more information than either Hoke or Borgess would supply to a reporter?

Just asking; not presuming anything one way or another.

They usher the press out of practice so they can work Devin at WR, they don't show the package in the Spring Game and the coaches won't admit to using him there.  Then Devin post it on the internet.  Go figure.

And as seen below, there is some doubt about the authorship of the page/post.  I should have been more careful in reading the OP.

So there's that.

on the field and not throwing the ball. I think his biggest issue is decision making with the ball in his hands. Make the decision "catch and run" and he'll probably be a beast. He's looked terrible under center for two years now (i give him a pass for his freshman season) and if he's not going to be the QB we need him to be then fergodsakes put him at WR.

I will say this, that lateral cut he made in the spring game was jaw dropping. He's an elite athlete no question and would hate to see him riding the pine for his whole college life!!

Better he tweet "Looks like imma catch them TDs this year" than "Michigan, thank you for everything, but I have to do whats best for me" and transfer...

I hope he takes to playing WR...and honestly, I hope he gets so good that he's DOMINANT at the position. He doesn't look to be an NFL QB. Maybe a good college QB, we obviously don't know...but he has the physical tools to be a high draft pick at WR. If he can grasp the position, his ceiling is likely higher there than at QB in terms of draft stock.

I'd have NO problem with a Bellomy/Morris battle for the #1 job if it meant Gardner was the 2nd coming of Braylon Edwards. Braylon made Chad Henne, a true freshman look solid when the offensive coordinator didn't trust Henne at all.

Bellomy/Morris winner...with a semi-confident Al Borges isn't a bad option for 2013 assuming Gardner is a dominant WR. If he's just average or a backup, then he needs to be in the QB battle.

Again, I don't see a downside from this. You keep a VERY talented player interested, particularly in practice where he can only get better.

I actually think that this has the potential to work well, especially since Bellomy looks pretty good coming in as it is (and Morris coming next year) and Devin's legs make him a pretty real threat if he's got the ball. Even if just for a year, I certainly do not mind having a starting QB that can achieve warp speed and another WR that can run away with the ball as well - after Denard leaves, he can still be in that dual role too. I imagine, however, that Devin will continue to get QB time at least in practice so that he is available there at least situationally. It adds yet another dimension to the offense and, specifically in Gardner's case, might even be a better use of his pure athleticism so long as we have Dilithium.

I love this.  if Denard gets injured long term then fine move DG back to QB. but Bellommy is fine as a Game Day Backup, great game manager, run the rock and run alot of short high percentage passes with him and things would be fine.

Devin should be a fulltime WR. It's likely his best position -- he has the potential to be a first rounder as a WR. Bellomy looks like he'll be at worst a servicable QB that can execute the offense. We have little talent at wide receiver.

The chance of Denard and Bellomy getting hurt and Devin getting hurt at receiver is relatively low, while the potential benefits of playing Devin at receiver are so high that it would be foolish not to play him at receiver full time.

I would love to see him at WR.  Get as much talent on the field at once as possible!  If Denard gets hurt just switch him back to QB.  Have him take some QB snaps in practice s othat he ca nbe fresh and I see no reason why this isn't exciting news!

I love it and hope he sees a ton of snaps at WR.  Yes, most of my excitement comes from the film of him at a camp when he "f***** around" at the position.  He was "f***** around" like Ice Cube was when he went for a triple-double on the playground on that oh so good day (who is recording assists on the playground?).  He looks like a natural and caught everything with his hands, away from his body.  I can't wait to see this unfold.

personally i wish gardner wouldn't advertise this. i know that its not like there's any film of him at wr, but i don't want saban to be able to prepare for this at all. i'm probably overly concerned, but still....

Fuck it. I'm just going to go ahead and Raback this.

Devin Gardner is going to become the 1st player in history to win the Heisman by primarily playing WR but also being QB2 and often being called on to spell Denard.

In fact he will catch at least 1 touchdown where he takes a 7 step drop and fires the ball 70 yards downfield only to blow past the safetys and catch the ball himself jogging into the endzone.

Asked, why he didnt play defense too ala Charles Woodson he says "Because Chuck did that, and I wanted to do something different".

here is clearly Miranda Sanford.  She used her journalist skills with the statement "Your gonna be a beast!" to get Devin to reply "Only in certain packages."

Do you guys not realize this is his Fan Page?  The likelyhood that Devin Gardner runs this page is incredibly slim.

This is just some dumb fan's attempt to get his page more views and "likes."  You guys are reading way too much into this.

If Devin has the hands, Denard to Devin could become the Michigan version of Stafford to Megatron.

You just picked one of the 2-3 best QB/WR combos on the planet to compare to a college QB with 15 INTs last year and an inconsistant arm and a backup QB who's going to try out WR.

Let's just pray they can do this (:45 mark):

Or this....

He is a dynamic athlete and playmaker. This also gives him a chance to impress scouts at a likely NFL projection spot too. He should still be the backup qb. Bellomy has proven nothing yet.

FWIW, it has been reported by a "Michigan Spokesperson" that that isn't Devin Gardner's Facebook page, and is actually run by a fraud pretending to be him.  Kinda irrelevent though as it seems that Gardner has been put into some formations as a WR as reported by mpbear14 and even mentioned by Borges that he would be used as a WR in special packages.  So for future reference, if you see something posted by "him" that seems off-the-wall, consider the credibility.  Did anyone tweet DG and ask him about his post?
