More basketball conditioning results for Irvin, Walton

We already know about the muscle gain for the sophomores working with Sanderson, but according to Twitter they have both increased their vertical this summer by over 4.5 inches. I hope this trend continues, as the young team this year has plenty of great candidates for muscle gain next summer. https://twitter.com/campsanderson/status/496711717280550912

Not that it matters, because it shows him working hard and that's really all that matters, but the bar is most likely 45 lbs. 45lbs is the standard olympic lifting bar weight and the weight that is most commonly used as a squatting bar in a gym. A 10lb bar would bend with any kind of serious weight on it. So bare minimum the guy is squatting 245. Which isn't too shabby for a kid coming out of high school. Plus he has very good form and goes all the way down. I've seen multiple guys in the gym go down about 1/3rd of the way and think that is 1 rep. This kid goes all the way down which is activating his glutes, quads and hamstrings.

You're posting on a frickin blog. I mean who are you? Kevin Durant couldn't do one rep of bench press at the combine and he's pretty damn good. Dare I say, better thank you, me, and the rest of this board could EVER be.

So who the fuck are you to make such a comment? I don't care if it's 210 or 410...if he can play, he can play. The guy's lifting trying to get stronger to play for Michigan. Who gives a shit about your condescending expectations for D1 basketball players?

Maybe I'm just overly-optimistic today, but I'm having a hard time figuring out when Michigan football and basketball ever loses a game again. I just don't see it in the cards until at least the year 2025.

UMHoops ran an article this morning - centered around Zak Irvin in particular - about some of the other things coming out of Camp Sanderson as well. (LINK)

"Irvin’s offseason strength gain – he’s up 15 pounds to 215 — was obvious according to observers at the Adidas Nations camp in Garden Grove, California. Irvin reflected on his physical development after participating in a game with other college stars from across the country."

Irvin also said that he's been working more on getting to ball screens as well as his own ball handling. It also mentions that LeVert is up 15 pounds himself to 185 as well, so there is some serious gain (good gain) happening here.

Fantastic to see the freshmen in there working. Would love to see some extra weight and strength on many of them. I hope this Italy trip will really be beneficial as well. I vaguely remember the last time the team traveled to Europe, and if I recall they had issues with the shot clock, etc, but they also had substantially less talent than the new Beilein standard.
