Monte Ball for Heisman

Submitted by koolaid on

After watching Monte Ball play and then seeing his ridiculous numbers, why isn't he above T Richardson of Alabama in the Heisman talk?  He almost gets no mention at all.  It almost makes me sick to see what ESPN and crappy sportswriting has done with the best award in college football.

Wilson's stats remain ridiculous....it's not his fault Wisconsin lost on two miracle plays. If they hadn't lost those games (both of which he played very well) he'd be a runaway winner for the trophy.

Ball is the running back version of Graham Harrell, Tommy Chang, Case Keenum, etc .... ppl expect Wisconsin backs to put up silly numbers, and the attribute it to the offensive line and the system ... not the RB's skill.

Richardson just ran for over 200 yards against Auburn.Wisconsin has beaten 9 cupcakes and gone 1-2 against the 3 best teams on their schedule.I could get 200 yards a game running behind those slobs. The holes are so big  that even John Clay and Ron Dayne can get thru.Enuff badger dicklicking already.

My rule: if you had an open draft and first pick of any player in all of college football for your team, who would you take? For me, that would be Andrew Luck, and it's not even a question.

As an aside: RBs are dime-a-dozen and largely interchangeable - take say, Spencer Ware, and put him in Wisconsin's rushing attack. Probably he'd put up similar numbers.

Was listening to the Wisconsin game on the radio and heard the announcer say Ball scored his 32nd TD of the year in the game.  Thought that had to be a mistake.  And then he scored 3 more.  35 TDs (29 rushing, 5 receiving, 1 passing) is nuts.  With possibly two more games left in the season, he has a legit shot to break Barry Sanders record of 37 rushing TDs in a season.  I agree, how is his season not getting more pub??

11 game season for Barry Sanders.  The record books may change, but nobody can touch that season.  Monte Ball will play in 14 games this season

I'd take Fitz all day over him.

But the bottom line is we have Denard and nobody else does!

Denard '12 will be a bitch!

Keep the individual hardware!  I'd like that trophy that goes to an entire team!

false.  wisconsin's system always makes a five star out of 3-4 star RBs.  ron dayne anyone?  not hard to get 1,000 yards behind 5 320+ pound linemen.

regardless, ball's votes are diluted by having to share them with his QB, without which all Ds would key on ball and he'd be nothing special.

also, wiscy lost to two second tier teams in  msu and osu.  ball didn't play well enough in those two games.

he's out.
