Moe always does it so that the posts don't take up as much room. I didn't realize it myself until last week, but if you go back and look at each previous week's post, it's the same thing.

Edit: And I negged a couple of the comments because the users had a karma value of 2. Hence it will take more than just Moe's vote to collapse the comment.
