Moderator Action Sticky #3

Submitted by Brian on

Hello. The previous mod action sticky was cumbrously long so this is a new one. What this thread is for:

This thread is an ad-hoc way of tracking what threads and comments get removed. Mods that remove a thread should post the title here with a brief reason as to why the thread is gone.

NOTE: if you leave an irrelevant comment in this thread it will be deleted.

Update: There's now a Mod Action Sticky IV.

OT:Snowflake MGoStaff / Coach Concerns

The tribe spoke on this one, but I did leave it up for a bit because I was wondering where this would go admittedly as a "snowflake" thread in the hopes that it could be repurposed perhaps. Sadly, that didn't seem like it was going to happen.

Is this our second worst O-line ever?

...as well as...

Is this the worst O-Line in the history of Michigan football?

...and what's more...

IF Hoke an co. beat OSU at the end of this season, is all forgiven?

These would all be snowflake thread material - we're going to manage the board tightly, I think.

Is Gardner a QB?

Snowflake, and an awful one at that.

Rant!

I think this was meant to be a comment in a thread, from the sound of it.

Time for Borges to go

At least a foot of snow in the forecast for the MGoBoard this evening....

Yes, he was also Darth Wolverine. The guy makes it so easy to spot him—he can't help himself from negging any non-football hello posts. If recruits are supposed to treated with such respect on this site, why isn't negging a hello post an insta-ban? How much more disrespectful can you get?

EDIT: Another Hello post negged: http://mgoblog.com/node/83056/vud-votes

it is time to fire borges

Certainly there will be an opportunity to express this in a Sunday Snowflake thread.

Recruiting Fallout..?

It's probably a little premature to start freaking out about recruiting.

we still spell better than Sparty

Win or lose, I think someone has to be the bigger blog here...

Is Hoke as determined as Carr, Dantonio, and yes Bielema?

This one probably falls below the snowflake bar, and there is a Snowflake thread for the day.

Hello mods

Thanks for keeping the board from going full Chernobyl. Pruning out the stupid threads really cuts down on the MLive factor. Can't envy being a mod after losses like this.

More Coaching Parallels

It was cute, of course, but the answer to the question (now confirmed) is Mark Dantonio and I don't know if that generates a lot of useful discussion that isn't being had in the other "parallel" threads. There has to be a limit here.

The MSU disrespect needs to die. Now.

This is a lengthy post that is far below the Snowflake bar (which also ignores the fact that the appropriate thread is still on the front page). I understand what the OP is trying to say, but as someone mentioned, self-aggrandizing as a means of coping is probably a poor strategy and will not generate original discussion this week (or ever really).

Today, in football/Bball: OSU, Wisc, MSU>UMich. Tomorrow will be different?

Call me strange, but I left this going for a bit because I wondered if it would go in a different direction than the other "parallel" threads, but it doesn't seem like it. If I am wrong, let me know here.

Brandon's optimal poker line going forward

Pretty sure thatDave Brandon is not quite thinking along these lines.

Since Bo died

I slept on this one, but on further reflection, it seems like another thread where there is self-aggrandizement going on and it just isn't useful, in my opinion, and indeed, it covers things already being discussed in some form in other threads.

It's amazing that so many here hate the NFL

There was an intriguing observation in here, but I think the presentation is not going to get much discussion going. When a majroity of the comments are about the phrasing of the OP, it's probably not a good thread to leave up. That, and probably a snowflake contribution.

This program can talk, but it can't walk

I struggled with this one, but it is stuff that is already being hashed out in numerous other threads condensed somehow into its own separate thread. It answers an amalgamation of questions from other threads, but probably isn't itself threadworthy. This is a trend we are trying to mitigate for the next couple days at least. Again, if you disagree, let me know. I keep these links and could always put it back.

It'll be a shame to lose the heartfelt condolences but you'll never keep up with the trolls and there should be no place for this crap. Even when you do finally clean it up, it's obvious what's missing and I don't think it should even be hinted at here.

Honestly, this might have been the low point for this message board, ever.

Honestly, if Brian was seriously considering kicking people off the board for "insulting" recruits, there should be a strong consideration toward kicking people off the board who are that out of touch with reality. If he thought that recruits would react poorly to what was said before, how does he think they are going to react when they see stuff like that on the board? If I were a recruit, I'd extrapolate that and expect the fanbase to call for me to get kicked off the team if I had a bad game even if someone died.

I immediately regretted commenting in that thread but, damn, that was hysterical!

A higher point threshhold for starting new threads (at least 500) needs to be established during the football season.  Its getting ridiculous and the 2+ moderators working their butts off shouldn't have to be the only ones responsible for maintaining the Board.  They have their own professional and personal lives, a fact that too often gets overlooked (not to mention the complete lack of any acknowledgment, praise, and even communication from on high - but thats neither here nor there).  Its time to address the situation that almost every senior poster has acknowledged many times over.
