Moderator Action Sticky #3

Submitted by Brian on

Hello. The previous mod action sticky was cumbrously long so this is a new one. What this thread is for:

This thread is an ad-hoc way of tracking what threads and comments get removed. Mods that remove a thread should post the title here with a brief reason as to why the thread is gone.

NOTE: if you leave an irrelevant comment in this thread it will be deleted.

Update: There's now a Mod Action Sticky IV.

Future offensive coordinator/O-Line coach possibilities?

I understand what the OP is trying to accomplish in expressing his own feelings, but this thread is not going to do much more than the other Borges-related threads have, I believe. In fact, I am pretty sure this very discussion has taken place inside a few of them. We don't really need a separate thread speculating on replacements for Al Borges as some have been doing it since about 10 PM last Saturday.

Magnuson played very well

This could probably be stated well enough the still fairly manageable snowflake thread for the offense.

Borges Apologists, UNITE!

I could be wrong, and if so let me know, but this is meant to be divisive and really doesn't need to be on the board.

Coaches Poll: Michigan #23, AP: #24

Sorry about this, Cold War - this is already being discussed in the first thread about the polls (which has now been appropriately retitled). Space management.

Week 9 BCS Rankings released

This was the first thread up, but the discussion started in the second one - we'll run with that then.

When I should have just come here.  He's spent 24 hours calling people names, being contrary just to be contrary, and making ad hominem attacks repeatedly about Hoke being fat.

He tries to be the polite troll by stirring things up, but can't help letting personal attacks slip.

Are the last 2 classes overrated?

I have an inkling that this will not generate much discussion beyond the idea that we might be putting the cart several blocks before the horse perhaps with this sort of question. If there's a reason to have this put back, let me know.

Your probably right. It probably would have just ended up with people hammering me.  I'm just a little disappointed with the rotations, bad play and injuries no one is stepping up to get us excited.  I thought it might have been better as a mailbag question for Brian as he could compare it to other teams or past years.

I drafted a very nice response only to get the Access Denied when I clicked save.

Half of our defensieve snaps are from guys in that 2012 recruiting class, and our defense is good.  Outside of Gallon, our leading receiver is Funchess, with guys like Chesson, Norfleet (also our KR), and Butt getting solid touches.  Darboh and Drake Johnson were looking like starters or solid contributors before injuries.  RG has had one of two different 2012 recruits start every week, which will almost certainly continue all year.

"Solid starter" is typically the celing for a second year player, and we have a ton of those.  But no one is stepping up to get us excited?  Does Funchess not excite you?  Keep in mind as well that those two classes were pretty heavy on the O and D lines and those guys take extra long to be ready.  Even so, Kalis, Magnuson, Bosch, Wormley, Pipkins and MO are sure looking good so far.

I know he's been here for a long time and makes lots of informed posts on a variety of topics, but he also is the troll of all trolls when it comes to certain arenas.

There was absolutely zero need for him to come into that MHSAA Playoffs thread and take a thinly-veiled shot at anyone who takes an interest in high school athletics.  Furthermore, I do not appreciate the sentiment he's hinting at: that there is something fundamentally wrong with anyone involved in this scenario, as if someone who watches athletics being performed by a minor is some kind of incorrect individual.

I'm not going to comment on why he continually feels the need to blast the world with this narrow-minded view, other than to say I'm getting sick of it on this message board.

I used to fight with Bando more than anyone and I would absolutely love if he was banned, but this is an overreaction.  It's quite possible he's from a town that doesn't really care about high school sports or a town that has a horrible sports program.  They do exist.  If you never grew attached to high school sports growing up, I can see where you're coming from.    If you didn't even follow high school sports when you were in high school, I can see why you might think it would be weird that so many people are so interested.  To him it's probably similar to most people's feelings on those who follow middle school sports. (They exist and they're creepy as hell)

Besides, he's a band geek. His interest in sports at any level makes him some sort of anomaly.  /schtick

I do think that if he had conveyed his message in a different (read: less condescending and generalizing) manner I probably wouldn't have been bothered to nearly the same degree.

Mods, I apologize for my verboseness and cluttering of Action Sticky but maintain that Bando's attitude on the manner has been well-documented and is no longer needed in future discussions.

Shirtless, I know we haven't always agreed on everything so I do appreciate the well-reasoned response.  Thanks.

"MGo" Clan for Online Gaming (Mods: Please leave up for a few minutes)

I was at a conference for most of the day, so I thought letting this stand for a bit wouldn't be a biggie. I did ask the OP if the participation was sufficient, and they indicated that it was, so as it is a game week and still technically "Non-OT" around here, down it comes.

Da'shawn Hand Panic Watch: Day 1

I was at an offsite yesterday and then forgot to come back to this last night, but the more I think about it, the more I believe it shouldn't have stayed as it seemed the purpose was to stir the pot and little else (and I answered a question in it, thereby posting...I know...). Belatedly, it is now down.

Personal insults directed at Magnus. Clearly fishing/trolling the topic. Generally trying to be offensive to make people angry. Didn't have a problem with him before, but could probably at least use a message telling him to cut the direct insults at people.

MSU Game Ramifications.

I am fairly sure that this one has gone about as far as it should go. It has essentially been the topic of a couple threads in the last couple days and this doesn't exactly present it in a way which wouldn't make it a pre-game snowflake, if you will. That, and I don't think that it will produce the sort of discussion that the OP wants, if indeed discussion was the aim.

Are you happy with the coach's and players' approach to MSU gamer? I'm not.

It took about ten minutes for the tribe to speak on this one. Not sure what the OP expected to accomplish here, but there are one or two threads on the first couple pages of the MGoBoard which already touch on the approach to this game.
