It was a stupid comment to begin with. Now it could get pointed out to a guy we are recruiting.
It was a stupid comment to begin with. Now it could get pointed out to a guy we are recruiting.
So a "troll-only" poster, who is 300 points in the hole in less than a month, made an extremely distasetful comment directed at one of the most informative posters on the board:
Perhaps it's a good time to put a stop to him/her (and, if you are feeling generous, the companion poster who showed up at about the same time).
I deleted the comment and put this person in Bolivia pending further action, which given their history will likely come soon. It is actually the second incarnation of this user and they apparently have not learned how to be a contributing member of the blog, or rather one who actually wish to have constructive discussion. All the same, you're right - the comment was distasteful and implying something not good, and the user being reprimanded obviously has some growing up to do.
I shall assume that this was meant as a comment in the drinking thread, as that might have been the most logical place for it on the board. What bothers me is that we were never told where the OP went on vacation, so it isn't as if we could have had a nice thread going on places to stop along the way or places to visit once they arrived.
Kuruk posted confidential information re. one of the players PSA: Season Tickets Have Arrived thread. Please delete that post
He hasn't committed anywhere yet. A few people need to show a little more class on this site.
I completely disagree. I'm not one to get my posts pulled on this board, as I'm not the type of person to show a lack of "class". I think this is a case of overzealous moderation. I didn't say anything negative at all. Simply suggested that this could be linked to a story that came out that SPECIFICALLY mentioned this situation being prevalant in "bagman" situations. I think you put your own projections on it. I'm not a big fan of having my opinion muted because I don't ever try to stir stuff up.
I actually meant to pull something someone said in response to you which was sort of borderline conspiracy and accidentally pulled that whole chain by mistake. Hit the right radio button at the wrong level of the conversation. If I could undo that, I would do so as I didn't think your comment was the problem per se. Sorry about that :-(
when there is no proof, much less guys we are still recruiting. I think we should be above that.
Well then, I guess the Cam Newton thing should not have been discussed on here at all? I understand that if you think taking money is a bad thing, that my opinion could paint a negative light on him. I don't necessarily think that way... and it was also clearly speculation. I wasn't asserting that he definitely took money, I was suggesting that it was a strong chance. But no problem, LSA. I appreciate you taking the time to give me an explanation.
had a specific allegation made against him that was being discussed. The other is a high school student we are still recruiting and apparently had transportation issues. I realize that wasn't posted at the time however you had no basis for making the allegation other than a general article you read on the internet that it may happen at some schools. I think insinuating this about guys we are still recruiting is unacceptable.
Regardless of whether you feel they should be able to take cash, it's not allowed under current rules. If you can't see the difference, I can't help you.
I sort of got the idea of what this was about from the context of the thread, but no matter, the thread is deleted at the request of the OP.
Taylor Lewan only 1st Round (yet to sign)
Phrased a little differently and with a little more meat, this probably survives in most cases, but "thoughts?" pretty much opens the door to a minor negbang and a thread which - while funny - is not in any sense the discussion the OP was probably aiming to have. As of this morning, Justin Gilbert hadn't yet signed either, but he did so earlier this afternoon.
Obvious troll is obvious...and Inappropriately angry.
Piggybacking on this: In the "Trey Burke sued" thread he's continuing with his trolling ways. He's repeatedly called the plaintiff "ugly" and "dumb" (even though the guy has a disorder). I mean, I think the lawsuit is frivolous, but there's no need to be an ass.
Expect an eerily similar account to be created by the end of the day. In the end it comes down to the question South Park posed about trolls, "How do you kill that which has no life?".
When some scumbag is as dedicated to trolling a site as this poster is, banning one particular account doesn't do a whole lot.
Calling it now.
Surely there can be a waiting period (say 7 days or so) between registration and allowing the person to post? It would also help reduce the number of fans of certain other teams who show up to troll the board during the fall.
Maybe even by you, I'm not sure. That's above my paygrade though, an email to Brian or Seth is the way to go to get something like that implemented.
figure this out. They may even set up multiple accounts in reserve in preparation for the eventual demise. On the other hand a lot of new people may not post again if they find they can't post that day. I think you lose more than you gain.
Frank Clark provides MSU bulletin board material.
Yeah, I think this one needs to go now. There really wasn't any "bulletin board material", and while MSU probably isn't "just another game" to the team in reality, Clark was rather respectful and even complimentary to MSU even with the minor zinger within the quotes. I don't think you'll find a lot of fans here in a huff over this.
A long string of ugly stuff in the York main page comments: deleted. To recap for those upset about losing that thread:
Dude: all [sport] players are [race] and [class].
Other Dude [takes bait]
Guy I am banning right after I post this: flaaaaaaaame!
Some Dude: [sarcastic comment with obscure movie reference]
Guy I'm banning: That's racist!
Those were the highlights. So nobody bitch that I killed off all those comments.
Speaking of advertising, can I ask a quick question that's not worth a thread?
Does subscribing to the Detroit News in any way support or help the Freep because of the JOA? I've cancelled the Freep but don't want to take the News if it's in any way going to support the Freep.
no clue. Write to the DetNews and ask them.
Major shuffle on the O-line
This was essentially covered in a thread from yesterday evening which is still on the first page of threads for the moment. For those who are curious, look for a thread called "Hoke Revealed First String O-Line Today" and remember that there is the depth chart and then the depth chart.
Denard scores GW TD run in Jaguards Preseason Game
The "Touchdown Denard" thread covers this topic and is still on the front page.
Jabrill Peppers tears ACL. Out for the year.
No. Just no. This was perhaps not great execution of such a thread (note: no such thread is worth executing) and at the worst possible time - fall camp. As they say, you are awarded no points and, well....you know the rest, I am sure.
The MGoUser shall sit out the season, but he is also blocked and thus not a problem now.
Venric Mark Transferring
We shall use the previous thread on this subject, which also includes information on WR Christian Jones, to run with this particular story.
ESPN Super Tuesday Michigan Games
This made it to the board yesterday, but with the quick buildup of various hot takes and incoming news about football this week, it was admittedyl very quickly buried. The general rule I try to abide by, so people know, is to let a few days at least pass before I consider it "not duplicate", taking into consideration some of us do not spend vast amounts of time here.
Speaking of what I said above...
Former Lions QB Scott Mitchell weighs 366 pounds, reality show looms
This appeared late last week, and I am going to start being a little selective about the stories that should perhaps appear twice, at least those that aren't Michigan-related, as we slide into the non-OT season soon.
Any buzz from yesterday's scrimmage?
A question is not a thread.
Dusting off our snowflake policy for the first time this season.
PSA for the board: We're going no-OT at the end of the upcoming week. Your dual takeaway from this should be to post OT while you've got 'em, and threads might start being held to a bit of a higher standard so as to keep on topic content on the board.
...and so it starts: Appy State memory lane begins--thanks, Brandon
I think we need to maintain our composure at least through the first thrid of the season and see where we're at. In any case, we're going to start lifting the bar on threads in lieu of the season beginning today.
Posted a comment about getting Damon Webb out of Cass Tech that was so appallingly over the line I don't care about any past commenting history—what he posted has no place here or anywhere.
FWIW I had an ex-employee send a customer a similar picture (except with a cat instead of a dog) to "encourage them" to buy from us. He was absolutely speechless when we fired him over it as he thought he was just being funny.
My guess is Hail 2 Victors is probably young and posted something stupid not realizing how it would be construed by others.
Braxton Miller cleanup.
So what's with this I AM GROOT thing?
Groot is a character from Marvel's Guardians of the Galaxy. The only thing he says is "I AM GROOT." This is a novelty account, or so I think, and while I personally think it's hilarious, it'll probably get old really quick.
Braxton Miller Officially Out for 2014
Apologies to our friend Zone Left, but we've covered this in two separate threads now, so we're going to take this one down.
BYU Added to 2018 and 2019 UM Schedule
This turns out to be about a game that BYU has with Washington, not about Michigan's schedule, so this will come down to avoid further confusion.
How about zapping O-line threads or requring they use the same one for the latest update?
but here's the second one and as usual, not a surprise.
Yeah, that's twice in one day and it is a little troubling.
As a general note to the board, if "retarded" is the crux of your argument, do not post your argument because it makes this place look bad, not to mention you. That, and I believe I have established more or less the guidelines on ad hominems. As I said in my most recent diary, do try to run your base reaction past your frontal cortex for proper revising.
Crowd spoken/OP changed.
Opinions are like a-holes - everybody's got 'em and they all stink.
