Moderator Action Sticky 2016

New season means new sticky, since these get cumbrously long.

What happened to your thread.

What this thread is for: It's an ad-hoc way of tracking what threads and comments get removed. Mods that remove a thread should post the title here with a brief reason as to why the thread is gone.

Don't comment in this thread unless you have to: if you leave an irrelevant comment in this thread it will be deleted (see: "cumbrously long").

Before you look for your thread or argue read this:

Things we will moderate harder this year:
  1. Politics. It's an election year; don't even bother.
  2. Useless content from other sites. There are a lot of sites feeding a lot of Michigan content out there, and a lot of that is good stuff. But more than ever these days a lot of it is just stuff which tries to tickle your fancy or make you mad about something. 247, WTKA always get the benefit of the doubt. Sharp, Valenti or Chatsports will lose you your posting priveleges without exception.
  3. Bewbs and general misogyny/objectifying of women. We're sick of it, our female readership is even sicker of it, and any value you might place on the comfort of cutting loose with the guys is worth less to us than the damage it does with tens of thousands of our readers.
You know what? Go read this again:

Hall of Stickies Past:
The first, the second, the third. the fourth. The fifth.

Great Moments in Moderation:
This is a very good read:

MICHIGAN #8 In Preseason Coaches Poll

I could be wrong, but this poll was out a while ago and we did beat it to death, if I am not mistaken. If I am mistaken, I can always reinstate this thread.

OT: OSU picks up two 5-star WR's

Yeah, recruiting thread regarding a rival plus scarce details and a "Welp..." will not go very far around here. Please endeavor to do better next time.

OT - It's good to be Usain Bolt.

This seemed like it was going to go downhill in a hurry, given the tenor of the replies. Needless to say, anyone who can finish as quickly as Bolt should be....well, yeah, if he's as quick in bed as he is on the track, then it's probably better off being not a thread.

User Youcrytoomuch just joined and just suggested that Desmond Howard speaks "ebonlish" in the Lee Corso thread. I'm not big on yelling out certain buzzwords, but his post seems, uh...

OT: Just saw the movie Greater; highly recommended

Eh, no offense to the OP, and yes, while the movie is football-related, we did put an end to OT posts of this nature a couple days ago. OP's post is below if you want a summation of the film all the same:

Just saw the movie Greater. It's the story of Brandon Burlsworth, a former walk on at Arkansas who went on to become an All American and was drafted in the third round in 1999 by Indianapolis. It's a nice story, even a little corny, at times, but Burlsworth was an amazing person, player, and teammate from a humble background. I'd recommend seeing it for anyone who loves college football, and even for those who don't.

Burlsworth was only one of two people in 120 years to have his jersey retired at Arkansas. He was tragically killed when his car collided with a semi-trailer only 11 days after being drafted.

On a side note, I remember Burlsworth very well, with his trademark horn-rimmed glasses playing us in the 1999 Citrus Bowl. He was quite a player.

The Jake Butt/Grant Perry Presser isn't loading properly for me. It starts loading but goes to blank blue screen.

Tried Chrome (PC and Android), IE, and logged in and logged out.

I spend seven hours of my life at an offsite and the following happens:

OT- Worst trash talk you've ever heard

The Disrespect Continues...lol....

How do we defend Tom Brady's new haircut?

"Chip" an unhealthy brand?

META - Ridiculous OT Threads Summary NEGBANG

Blech. Enough said.

The closest thing you get to a safe zone here is a posbang thread, and even then, people have been known to fuck those up, so it isn't 100% guaranteed at any rate.

Not sure why you would want one on a sports blog either - seems like it would take the element of risk out of it, which is a shame.

Question:  Why are there users who can post via mobile but you can't see those same posts on the web?  They accrue positive points but can't be negged as they don't show up on the web?

The best way I can explain it -  The mobile apps pull the comments from the database/server before the website's moderation filters are applied.   There may be a way to update the apps to include the moderation filters, but I don't know enough about programming to know for sure.

ESPN "writer" saying Michigan not for real (yet).  Where do they get these people?

This definitely didn't need to be a thread in the first place; the premise that Michigan hasn't won big games yet this year is rather hard to argue. Worse, however, were the misogynistic, derogatory comments towards the author. Cut that BS out or accounts are going to disappear.

I'll make myself crystal clear since it's apparently necessary for many of you: whether or not you agree with the article, the author's gender and appearance have absolutely nothing to do with the conversation. Stooping to that level is unoriginal, unfunny, and most of all insulting. Consider this a final warning before I start blocking accounts at the first sight of this kind of stuff. If you think your comment even approaches being borderline, keep it to yourself, and maybe take some time to consider how you relate to women.

Since we've signed with Nike and have the distinction of being the only school currently using the Jordan brand for football, have you considered changing the breaks to read, (Much more after the Jump, Man)? Just an MGoSuggestion...

Visual difference of Jordan vs Adidas

I think what we're seeing here when it comes to the slow accumulation of downvotes is that jersey and uniform hot takes have been way overdone on this blog, so please be selective about these sorts of threads.

Mo Bamba had to reach out to Michigan to get recruited

Tidbit of news spun in such a way that the thread could not possibly go well. I am all for analysis, but this one wasn't spectacular and reads far too much into a tweet. When you end it like this -

And this is just another log on the fire to Beilein's ridiculous recruiting mathods.

Pardon the board if your "mathods" are questioned.

The OSU is

....no longer a thread. Remember that I specified that individual game threads outside the normal "noon" or "afternoon" or "evening" threads must have a fairly significant reason for being. This thread does not have that.

Good morning can we convert the Colorado look a like thread to a diary?  Sorry I didn't think about the thread disappearing due to the site volume.  Will make future threads like this diaries as well thanks.
