Moderator Action Sticky 2014

Submitted by Seth on

New season means new sticky, since these get cumbrously long.

What this thread is for: It's an ad-hoc way of tracking what threads and comments get removed. Mods that remove a thread should post the title here with a brief reason as to why the thread is gone.

NOTE: if you leave an irrelevant comment in this thread it will be deleted (see: "cumbrously long").

Before you look for your thread:
1. Was it offensive/political/off topic?
2. Did it link to Drew Sharp, something Mike Valenti said, or Ace Williams?
3. Is there another thread in the last few days on the board that addresses the same topic?

Hall of Stickies Past:
The first, the second, the third.

Instant and permanent ban. We used to have Misery for such things. Maybe we can bring that back. Nothing makes me sleep better than knowing a troll is unknowingly posting to a completely different server and getting auto "just stop" responses while that server's viruses busily burrow every Trojan and performance wrecker into the offender's registry. Good times.

"Rockie" at The Victors says there is a handshake deal in place, shares a supposed Andy Moeller/JH text

Pretty sure that no one wants the contents of their texts revealed, BS or not in this case. Let's just not entertain this one.

CC-Kyle Whittingham in AA discussing opening.

This one is already being roundly debunked, by most accounts.

Hunter Lochmann does not appreciate you complaining about ads

We'll keep the Lochmann stuff in one thread.

EDIT: This one has since been restored. Bando has a point regarding this particular discussion - upon a better read, they were evolving separately, I think. My apologies, although if someone else decides to remove it....

Just some constructive criticism: This seems to happen a lot, and it's a bit frustrating, honestly. There were two really good discussions on the Lochmann article going on, yes. But they were evolving separately and focusing on two different aspects of the article (advertisements/AD budget vs. marketing and branding). And one of the thread titles doesn't even mention Lochmann, so it wasn't immediately apparent that's what it was about.

I know there's no way to merge threads, but when there's a 110-post thread and a 55-post thread that were both allowed to sit open for an hour... It would have been nice if the latter discussion hadn't just disappeared into the ether without a trace.

Let's be honest with ourselves. There is an incredibly small(almost none) chance of Harbaugh becoming our coach.

There's being not optimistic and then there is trolling the board.

WTF? There was absolutely no trolling going on there at all. Just because I told a few people something they didn't want to hear doesn't mean the thread needed to be deleted. Especially with that vomit worthy "Jim Come Home" thread right below it.

If you are going to delete my thread, get rid of that other piece of shit as well. People are becoming absolutely delusional here, and the mods are doing everything possible to encourage it.

CC: Mora and Mullen Leading Candidates (Per Fottball Scoop)

While there's nothing innately wrong with the attempt to provide information, we've shown in a few threads now that FootballScoop isn't necessarily as connected as it seems, or their sources aren't very good in this search. Either way, at 30 downvotes and a fair amount of snark, this thread likely isn't worth leaving or saving.

CC: Forward to the Future. Coach Harbaugh

I thought about it, but I think the board has already established how this place would react if indeed Harbaugh came back to Ann Arbor.

Harbaugh rumor...

I know, I am ruining the fun perhaps. Still, I'd like to think we should keep as little of this on the board as possible, even if it is a classic.

CC: Tressel

No. Just no. Also, why hire someone who still has a show-cause? They disincentivize that for a reason.

Somewhere along the thought process of "Shane sucks, Tate Forcier was awesome," there was a notable lack of "is this thread-worthy?"

How Pelini really feels

Feel free to post the story in the existing thread.

How can this get any better?

I feel like this gets discussed each time a non-Michigan CC thread comes up, but if I am wrong, we can revisit this one.

Auctioning Harbaugh

Difficult to discuss without confirmation of the deal, of course.

Late night Harbaugh rumors open thread:

The OP didn't specify the chatter, then the thread became polluted with Ace Williams. Not worth saving.

Harbaugh likes chocolate ice cream & Garth Brooks

I felt a little uncomfortable leaving something that seemed a little over the top as Harbaugh threads go.

I thought about that too, but then there have been a couple threads in the last day which were mainly devoted to his tidbits. If someone wanted to post that, he's not on the auto-removal list, so there wouldn't be any fight from me. I was just more concerned about the people reiterating Chatsports and then the long reply chains after each one. I started deleting them, but then the thread lost a lot of cohesion, so part of it was my bad in that sense.

Bo

Who knows what Bo would do? We're probably beyond the point of useful speculation here.

CC: Me

This was sort of going downhill, but if I was harsh in removing it, we can talk.

Man, I come home from a family function....

Anyway, if it is gone, it isn't an indictment on your thread per se, but we're just trying to pare down the Harbaugh a bit...

What would Jim Harbaugh do?

SMU at Harbaugh - Open Harbaugh

CC: Can Harbaugh do to Urban Meyer What Saban Did?

About CC Harbaugh, but not about CC Harbaugh

0.0% chance of Beilein getting fired even if this season is a post-season-less disaster, so all your thread could possibly accomplish would be to provide an example of how silly knee-jerk fans are with their hotseat bler, thereby pissing off the board and providing a bad example for other Michigan fans of the level of discussion on the board.

So let's weight: the potential for MGoBlog to look like a joke plus the potential to piss off our readers, versus the likelihood that a stupid question answerable in less than 5 characters generates a considered response.

Little-discussed possibility: Is there still a chance Harbaugh stays in San Fran?

I think it has been well established that the possibility of this is exceedingly remote by numerous sources.

I am Maximus...

I don't think this will go over all that well based on the current reaction, so we'll pull it now.

Revisiting Baalke's comments from yesterday

The thread discussing these comments is still on the first page of the MGoBoard. Please revisit them there.

Jason Gay from WSJ impersonates Harbaugh in Ann Arbor

This was covered yesterday - "Faux Harbaugh Sighting In AA" was the thread, I believe.

SI: Nussmeier to take Florida OC job

This was also posted yesterday.

CC: This article should give us concern

Pretty sure Tim Kawakami isn't saying anything shocking here, and much of this has already been covered in various threads.

Harbaugh: Man With Fire in His Belly, and Blood on His Face ***MODS DELETE***

This was posted yesterday, although the source was different.

Walking it back a bit

Yeah, the more I read it, the more I think this "rumor", as users pointed out, is completely inconsistent with tampering rules. If Jim's agent wanted to ensure his return to college, tampering would probably be the way to do it, albeit an incredibly expensive way. Not sure that we can leave this up in good conscience.

Why did my thread from last night get deleted? It was better than at least 50% of the items posted here lately.
