Moderator Action Sticky

Submitted by Zone Left on

Brian has requested that instead of deleting each individual comment in the Moderator Action Sticky, that we instead just create a new thread. It takes hours of less time, preserves the comments for future explanations, and just clears things up faster.

You'll notice that the previous thread is now locked, and will slowly fade back into darkness. For the time being, the link from the Useful Stuff menu will point to the wrong location. We're working on a fix for that.

This thread is an ad-hoc way of tracking what threads and comments get removed. Mods that remove a thread should post the title here with a brief reason as to why the thread is gone.

NOTE: if you leave an irrelevant comment in this thread it will be deleted.

How is this avatar NSFMK?  This is tame as hell compared to about 10 others that show boobie close up of random chicks.

I am feeling a bit picked on here guys.

Edit: Ironically enough Mr Kass himself asked me to put my avatar back up when I took it down recently so the man who started it all wasnt bothered by it in the least.

I try to cut back on mgoblog usage and do some real work and this happens.

FTR, I thought you once had an avatar of a navy bikini top with a gold block M. Was that you? I always thought that was tasteful.

I was thinking it was time to change to another avatar photo of MSRK or of MISS-SRK, but now I'm wondering.

Oh, and in the vein of your wife's website, I continue to lose weight and got below 300 for the first time in a long time (6'3" btw.) Now only 80 - 100 more pounds to go.

Also, what's a bronie?

Take my advice Stephen and dont do it.  For reasons that I have yet to get an answer on from anyone, one of the mods decided that the avatar you referenced was too revealing (apparently) and you see what I got instead.  And I'm a bit cheesed off for three reasons:

A.  It wasnt that revealing on any level

B. There are others that are worse...FAR worse...that are allowed to stay up

C. Nobody will tell me why it got popped and what the rationale was tor the popping.

PS: Congrats on the weight loss!  That's fantastic - keep it up!!!!!

Now we know the worst of it.

Also, a couple cool story bro threads.

Also, two identical threads about damefan. Seriously, the second one earned OP a two month timeout.

Happy to see 100 comments from people sharing information about head trauma or otherwise expressing concern for the kid. The two assholes who said screw him got insta-bans--anyone else who does so gets the same.

OT: MSU professor has nervous breakdown, strips naked and shouts obscenities at students

Come on people. I know it's Sparty, and we love to laugh at Sparty, but this is a guy having a mental breakdown. He's a non-combatant in the Big Brother/Little Brother Wars. I know what I'm asking is unlikely, but try to be human for two seconds.

in the thread I started tonight (OT: New songs for the MMB) -when I open the thread in my browswer (Chrome) I cannot see any of the replies the post has generated.  I have tried rebooting my PC and clearing my browser history and cache of all stuff like cookies, and still it doesnt work.  It does let me see the replies in the Droid app on my phone, but not in Chrome.  I'm not sure why that happened or if there is anything you can do.

It might've occurred because I edited my initial comment on the post (I had panicked that the embed failed when it didnt, and then edited my comment on the post after realizing the embed had actually worked).

If this is something you guys can fix, awesome.  Otherwise, I'll just have to deal with it, having broken the thread for my viewing somehow.

I hope you got your answer while the thread was up.  For future reference, in performing your site search, use "where to watch" instead of "Toledo."  That might have been what went wrong.

Ruling: let it stand.

We ban people here for trolling and flaming so that the boards don't become conspiracy theorists and firebrand politicos calling each other Hitler, but not for simple bad taste. When deciding between the two I look for 1) intent, and 2) effect, set against our goal of allowing the broadest possible free speech. For intent, the user here wasn't trying to get people to start screaming at him about WTC humor, but making a suggestion about a well-known internet meme. For effect, it got a few downvotes and ticked one guy off enough to reply there and post it here. Eh.

Jokes that make fun of 9-11 victims etc. are in bad taste but WTC guy wasn't actually killed--he's a dude who photoshopped himself to look like a tourist standing on the roof when the plane was about to hit. The joke is about inappropriateness, and it's a well-hooved internet meme, albeit one I don't find particularly funny.

I don't like his post either, however not liking something is not enough reason to ban somebody.

MSU women's basketball getting 2 secondary violations three days ago isn't big stuff. Cardale Jones was on the blog last week though I think we failed to front-page it.

I think you should have left it up. I know it's not OT season and all, but I never would have known this was happening if the OP hadn't posted it. Maybe that's on me for being out of touch, but I'm assuming there are others out there who would want to know about this (and would be interested in finding out when the re-launch will be).

Actually, I probably would have left it because, like you, I found it interesting.  But I pulled it once I found out the attempt was postponed.  If its up to me, I'll leave the thread up when the next try occurs in the future.  But, technically, I think this is unlawful OT according to the MGoStrictures.

As interesting as it is, this is too OT.  Unfortunately, it being in the M Daily is just not enough to keep it on the Board.  Plus, the potential for the slippery NSFMrs.Kass slope and whatnot.

(For future reference, if you are considering employing the "way" OT description, its probably not Board-worthy during the season.)
