Moderator Action Sticky

Submitted by Zone Left on

Brian has requested that instead of deleting each individual comment in the Moderator Action Sticky, that we instead just create a new thread. It takes hours of less time, preserves the comments for future explanations, and just clears things up faster.

You'll notice that the previous thread is now locked, and will slowly fade back into darkness. For the time being, the link from the Useful Stuff menu will point to the wrong location. We're working on a fix for that.

This thread is an ad-hoc way of tracking what threads and comments get removed. Mods that remove a thread should post the title here with a brief reason as to why the thread is gone.

NOTE: if you leave an irrelevant comment in this thread it will be deleted.

And when one gets the "you are THIS close to being banned" message, and he ignores it...again...and again...it's hard to tell if anyone is aware (I don't think anyone expects the mods to read every single post on the blog. Even I don't do that). And the previous poster saw that he was still posting today.  So the wheels, they kind grind slow at times.

Listen, I want to apologize to you all.  It was never my intent to be labelled a troll, but in coming to enemy territory I guess its the nature of the business.

I like college football a lot.  I like coming here because some of your posters are the most intelligent football people around and some others are pretty damn funny.

As the "enemy" I didn't think you would mind some good natured ribbing, I can take it.  I have been for 20 years.  Clearly I was incorrect on this assumption.  Perhaps even a little debate, IE Kelly's Discipline vs Hoke's Discipline, perhaps not.

Clearly all you want is the world through maize colored glasses and thats fine.  I'll sit and lurk and read.  But I just wanted to clear the air a bit and let you know where I am coming from.

Carry on.

PS: As for the rumours of being an old Freep troll handle, there is no substance to that.  Also I wasn't banned from Irish Envy, I gave up dealing with some of the idiots over there who cannot process reality.  I still lurk there.

Good luck in 2 weeks.

Gets extra leeway for being a rival. They tend to piss people off quicker for smaller infractions. Plus then we'd never get little nuggets like the suggestion Tom Hammond isn't a ND slappy and stuff. Don't ruin my fun!

I have unilaterally implementing a new rule. Well, I guess the rule isn't NEW so much as it just hasn't been enforced. Either way, it's a thing now, and it's called the Snowflake Rule. The Snowflake Rule is simple: threads that just repeat the same stuff everyone else is thinking are not thread-worthy. Here are some ways to know if you are in violation of the Snowflake Rule:

  • Your thread title begins with the words "My thoughts on," "My opinion regarding," or "What I think about"
  • You cover a topic tat has been covered multiple times on the board or on the front page
  • The evidence supporting your post's hypothesis is entirely (a) opinion and/or (b) empty, high-level, tautological statements like "Denard is fast"
  • Your conclusion is something either obvious or completely opinion-based, like "we will be better if the blockers block people" or "Kalis should play because I think he'd be better." Or, as a totally hypothetical example, "Denard should run because Denard is fast at running."

Bottom line: posting a unique take on things is perfectly acceptable. If you want to post about a proposed defensive alignment or scheme that will allow the line to get better penetration? Knock yourself out. Want to demonstrate why Denard should run more by providing an analysis of past running QBs or of Michigan's success based on various run/pass ratios? We'd like to read it. But posting your take on a common question will get your thread pulled like something from a Weezer song.

Definitely not Diary-worthy (or sponge-worthy, for that matter) and qualifies for this:

(No offense intended - I know you spent a lot of time drafting the posting and its still available if you search for it on "Site Search" option.  Its just not published on the front page anymore.)

MODERATE: Image posts of the altered comics, or links to the altered comics that don't clearly let the reader know what they're about to look at.

DON'T MODERATE: References or discussion about it on the board, or the creator's handle unless he breaks other board rules.

Personally I think it's funny and free speech etc. Would rather the creator link to the original every time.
