Seriously, go look at his comment history. He has made it his personal mission to do nothing but call Morgan names in game threads. That's all he does. But hey, maybe the mods here are cool with this dude continually trashing a respected Michigan basketball player. I'm sick of it, though.

I had the tab open to do it and got distracted, sorry for the delay. He got warned/Bolivia'd in one of the earlier game threads and it looks like all he does is come on to talk trash about Morgan, which obviously isn't cool.
Handled now, though.
Go Blue!
And I apologize for the attitude in my post, I was just fed up with the bull that was constantly being spewed, all just for the sake of being an ass.
I know you mods are really stretched thin around here, and your efforts are definitely appreciated. Thank you again.

I definitely had my share of posts like that before starting the moderating work, so it would be kind of ridiculous for me to have anything bad to say about yours (which definitely didn't cross any lines).
Thanks for the heads up and the kind words.

It won't be a problem unless the same stuff keeps happening.

Postd thread about unsigned LOIs, but apparently covered in open thread. please delete,
Thanks,
Sorry it took so long, still trying to catch up on all of the morning comments.

I don't know where I should be posting or asking you this, but don't I return from Bolivia today? You said after signing day.

User MGrowhoreWife needs to be banned. Looks like someone had some pent-up bitterness toward mGrowOld.
Based on context, it's probable that [another user. JGB] created that account to get back at MGO.
Thanks Moleskyn. That would be my guess too.
FWIW - a post like that does warrant a few minutes of Mod investigative work I believe to see if the IP addresses match. It is SO over the top and uncalled for here that if anything warrants a permanent ban - that would be it.
Based on his comments I'd guess whoever he is that he's a sad, fat, unhappy little zit faced loser living in his mom's basement who only dreams of kissing a girl someday if he loses the weight and gets a job and he's unlikely to buy much from our advertisers nor donate to beveled guilt. So no loss on the revenue front if he's smoked.
Thank you for removing those comments.
That may be the case, but probably not a good idea to let the target of the abuse decide the punishment :)
Anyways, I'd like to advocate for the censure of that emueas_c90250235203 character (can't ever remember what his name is, nor do I care to). Doesn't add anything of value to the board, he's generally negative, offensive, and annoying, and spends most of his time trolling. There's a difference between a poster writing something particularly assinine on one occasion, and a repeated pattern of degrading the quality of the conversations here. This character is the latter.

Can you please look at locking or deleting these? Seth (and/or another Mod) locked and deleted the "oversigning/too many scholarship threads' because they may be insensitive to players involved. I suggest this is the same, with only one target; Reon Dawson. The kid just signed his LOI and deserves benefit of doubt until coaches/staff decide otherwise.

I watched the first thread pretty closely and it was generally tame. Mostly just comments about how he'll learn and people explaining how its possible to be a fan of one team and play for the other. I was trigger-happy, waiting to delete obnoxious comments but I didn't see any, FWIW.
Disgruntled former moderator. I got a lot of problems with you people!
I didn't think this was thread worthy or worth jacking a different thread, but I have a question and I can't find an answer. I haven't seen anyone else talking about this in various topics.
When I am looking at the comment section of the board, from different browsers and different PCs, the area around the name of the commenter is now gray, and the area around their picture is now red. Why do we have scarlet and gray on the website in any fasion? Did someone lose a bet? or is it just my account where this is happening?

and its still doing this from my work PC, putting gray around the username of a commenter, and red around their photo. It has stopped doing this on my home PC, where I use chrome. at work I'm stuck using IE since we can't download chrome onto our PCs. Is anyone else having this issue or it is something to do with my browser?
Also I find it funny that someone came through and neg-bombed the moderator thread. I have no idea how my original comment is flamebait lol.

We get that every now and again. Usually its just to neg my comments so its good to see everyone getting it.
My avatar and name box shows up as scarlet and gray too. Not sure the reason though.

that you don't know what's causing the coloration of the poster name. it's good to know its not just me though.
as to the negging, someone is on a hate-binge on me for god only knows why lately, they've gone back and downvoted everything I've posted recently as flamebait, including the congrats on the guy who's wife had twins saturday. oh well. troller has to troll I guess, I just wish they had the balls to man up and admit who they were and what I did to set them off, but I know that'll never happen.

This guy needs to go. No reason this should be allowed at all, nor should this guy be allowed to stay.
It's not up to me, but if it was anyone who puts this on the internet should be banned from the city of Ann Arbor.
eamus_caeruli: I will say it and don't care about the consequences...I don't want him here. I hope the seniors and staff make him feel very uncomfortable. I bet he doesn't last long, and better yet I hope he doesn't qualify. Perhaps there will be a mix up at the registars office, and he didn't actually get accepted.

I put up a tough front, but deep down I just want to be held.
Can we please consider significantly raising the point threshold to moderate posts on game days?
Either that or can we have a better mod presence in game threads?
I'm at the point where I'm just about done on MGoBlog for gamedays. It is just as bad as MLive - constant bitching about players, refs, and coaches. If someone tries to give an objective viewpoint (i.e. No I don't think Stauskas was fouled.) they are met with a Maize and Blue blinded mob mentality.
You can choose to do nothing, that's fine. But MGoBlog used to differentiate itself from MLive. I'm certainly not looking for another MLive.

Look, if you're going to downvote other people's threads, that's no problem and certainly your prerogative. But I have a very hard time taking your complaint about this seriously when you neg OPs that are not actually doing what you are complaining about, apparently out of revenge. If you want this to be a place of reason and discussion, try to do it positively. Not be negging threads without actually reading them.
And when people do neg your posts, demonstrate their foolishness by making persuasive, intelligent arguments to the contrary. Believe it or not, some people will notice the unfair negs and posbang you back. (FWIW I upvoted your negged response in the Stauskas thread because I felt it made a good point and that the downvotes were unfair, regardless of whether I agreed.)
EDIT: My response is critical, but your post is not invalid. I see that someone is chasing you around and negging you, so I upvoted you here, too.
Servant. Pastor. Husband. Michigan fan in Duluth.
I downvoted your OP because of your opening line:
Another game, another series of questionable calls
And that might have been harsh without a response.I can go into insane detail, but to put it succinctly: Dan Dakich was right, the officials were very good today.
I know that's not a favorable opinion around the losing team, but it is true. Those were three of the highest rated refs in college basketball collectively. Did you know Gene Seratore worked the National Championship a year or two ago? Also, did you know (talking generally, not to you specifically) that "B10 refs" are actually refs that work Big East and Big 12 as well? It's not just one set of guys that works only the B10. Also, did you know that every single whistle and non-whistle is judged by the league office and officials are graded and given games accordingly? There's no Big-Ten conspriracy there. Maybe its that the Big 10 has teams like WIsconsin and Penn State and MSU that muck up the play and play physical, resulting in the appearance of different styles of officiating, not the other way around?
All these things would have been good discussion points in your thread, but let's be honest: There's no way I was going to make any of those very valid points without getting flamed, so I didn't bother. I saved my time and simply downvoted. Sorry to you - it wasn't personal. I just didn't want to deal with MGoIdiots.
The fact is, the officials are never as bad as people make them out to be and the thread about Stauskas is the perfect example. You show the Stauskas play to 10 unaffiliated people and 9 of them say "Good no call." And it's kind of my point that usually people will notice the dumb behavior and act accordingly. But when I got negged today for calling a guy out who called Dakich a "fucking cunt", maybe I lost it a bit. My bad.
CoE Class of 2007
If you're complaining about getting negged, you're only going to get negged more going forward. It's a vicious cycle. In Open Threads, people get negged for replying to old posts. Something you seem to do quite a bit of when you're taking issue with people complaining about the refs. It disrupts the flow of the thread. When you click to refresh the thread it often goes to the first new post in the thread which may result in having to scroll for 30 seconds to get back down to the new comments. This doesn't bother me, but it has come up before.
If you're complaining about the comments bitching about the players/refs/coaches then I'd think you're better off avoiding MGoBlog during games. You'll never be able to stop that. There's a reason the term MGoIdiot exists. Those people come out the most in Open Threads and after losses.
I put up a tough front, but deep down I just want to be held.
- That's way above my paygrade. If you're looking for a change in basic site functionality, your best bet is to contact Brian. His email is linked at the top of the page.
- I really don't know what to tell you here. No, I wasn't present real time in the game thread, but I read this post before scrolling through it and I'm honestly confused by your post. Nearly 1,000 comments were posted, of which six made me uncomfortable to have on the board and two were deleted with nobody losing points or being caved. For a frustrating loss, posts breaking rules at a .2% clip seems to validate this not being MLive.
Go Blue!
Being contrary about EVERYTHING under the guise of "objectivity." According to you we didn't lose because of the refs, coaching, or players. So that leaves heaping the whole blame on Levert or "magic." So your concerns fall a little flat.
"I love him, he's a great coach, he's a great mentor, he's a great friend. He's every single thing you want a college coach to be, and he does it flawlessly." -David Molk
I never said we didn't lose because of the players. We lost because the players didn't make plays.
And I'm not contrary to "EVERYTHING". Maybe I'm contrary to blame. Or bitching. Or people posting things like "Dan Dakich is a fucking cunt" and getting upvoted for it.
Because at the end of the day, Dan Dakich was right: OSU is the best team in the B10 right now. Maybe MSU. That's another debate.
CoE Class of 2007
When you say it's "maybe MSU?" It either is or it isn't, and if it's up for debate he can't be right. It's just like, his opinion, man. And that's the problem; you're coming off like "because I don't agree with what the fans think I'm being the rational one." No, you're just being condescending. Like your post above that "9 of 10 unbiased people old say that's a good call." And while I certainly think that play could be up for debate, the only way you get 9 of 10 people to say he didn't hack the arm to get to the ball is if you're polling MSU fans.
And being contrary to blame IS just being contrary. We lost; there are reasons. Reasons that get blame. It wasn't divine intervention. If the players played badly then they're to blame. If the coaches didn't have them ready to play then they're to blame. If the refs didn't allow the players to play then they're to blame. But we lost a game we should have won. If you don't like bitching about losing, you are in the wrong place.
"I love him, he's a great coach, he's a great mentor, he's a great friend. He's every single thing you want a college coach to be, and he does it flawlessly." -David Molk
That's my point! It's, like, Dakich's opinion man! I thought that at MGoBlog we don't call people "fucking cunts" for having opinions - reasonable opinions - that are not the same as ours. Instead, that comment and several like it were celebrated which made me suggest that maybe the point level should be upped.
That's my whole point.
As for blame... It's sports. It's a game. Someone will always win and someone will always lose and sometimes there is just a better team. Sometimes a team plays better. If you're desperate to place blame so you can feel better about yourself and tell yourself that Michigan is still the best team in the world, then fine - blame the officials, blame the coaches. Congrats, we were screwed and we don't have to face the fact that we lost a game and need to move on.
It was predicted to be a 2 point game. It went to overtime thanks to a lucky shot. Shit happens. Every player on our team made a play in crunch time that contributed to the loss, so no I don't feel like people should say things like "John Beilein is a fucking idiot for X" and "Caris LeVert can fill out his transfer papers today."
For the record: I "blame" Trey Burke for playing heroball. That's the only complaint I have about our 21-3 team. I'm going to enjoy the rest of the season now and hope Morgan is healthy for Tuesday.

The same OSU that just got worked big time at home by IU?
EDIT: Mods, this post should probably be deleted. I forgot for a minute that this was the Mod Action thread and not a regular one. Sorry.

Just curiously, when you opened mgoblog and saw OT: Pope Benedict to retire and 170 responses (or whatever it was) what was your reaction?
