Moderator Action Sticky

Submitted by formerlyanonymous on

Brian has requested that instead of deleting each individual comment in the Moderator Action Sticky, that we instead just create a new thread. It takes hours of less time, preserves the comments for future explanations, and just clears things up faster.

You'll notice that the previous thread is now locked, and will slowly fade back into darkness. For the time being, the link from the Useful Stuff menu will point to the wrong location. We're working on a fix for that.

This thread is an ad-hoc way of tracking what threads and comments get removed. Mods that remove a thread should post the title here with a brief reason as to why the thread is gone.

NOTE: if you leave an irrelevant comment in this thread it will be deleted.

New Thread.

Improper OT.  I see what you did there, but you can just neg the other OP if you don't like his contrarian views on a Michigan football-related topic and/or post your attempt at humor in that thread.

Hope you found one. Try a sports bar. Ft Myers has 60000ish people. There aren't going to be Big 10 team-specific bars. Otherwise, drive to Naples and hang out with the alumni club.

you guys leave those threads up all of the time and their usually for such remote locations that you have no chance in finding a bar. i am sorry that i cluttered up the board with such a bad topic, heaven forbid that i go on vaction with my wife and would like to find a sports bar that michigan fans in the area like to go to so i can enjoy the game.

I try to nail the ones I see. We do have a sticky for them because there were getting to be tons of local threads on fridays. I left up one up once: Munich, because of selfish reasons (I am sometimes there for Oktoberfest, which means during an early season game) and because I was interested to know if he would actually get a response, because really? Michigan in Munich?

I think someone else got to it anyway.

I oscillated on this one . . . I always like hearing some good gossip, especially at the water cooler.  However, the Board is not a rumor mill and this is one topic that we can simply wait until its public knowledge.  If what the OP says is true, well, then he scooped everyone!

Sports by Brooks tweeted something. This guarantees it won't happen. Sorry Eleven Warriors.

Seriously, Herbstreit and Fickell? What the hell is Herbstreit going to coach and why the hell would he leave ESPN?

I am not sure if you guys can see my posts but I am going to post this anyway.  I understand the point docking I received for an idiotic post at the begining of the season but I was wondering when others will be able to see my posts?  A few people I know are MGoBloggers and have said my posts never appear even though I can see them when I am logged in.  Also I have noticed that when I log out my posts disappear.  Can you tell me how much longer this is going to last?  Thanks

OT Good Time

I admire your attempt to categorize a strip club question as football-related. But no matter what the stripper tells you, there is no OT on the MGoBoard.

Drew Sharp < Sports by Brooks < a New Mexican third grader's in-depth analysis of the OSU vs Michigan game < Eleven Warriors < ESPN < EDSBS < Yahoo! < MGoBlog

The New Mexican third grader's analysis is an acceptable topic. Anything less than it isn't.

Why is it not ok to ask questions that challenge popular opinion?  The knee-jerk reaction of "all is well and you're a jerk for saying otherwise" simply isn't true.  Things have changed and not for the better. One responder I think absolutely nailed it - the relative failure of the past three years coupled with the increased seating capacity has led to additional empty seats in the student section. That isn't a mirage and Hoke himself addressed the issue so this isn't just  some random old dude ranting at these young folks.

My title could've been less inflamatory obviously but if you go back and read the posts on the same topic after Minnesota and then Purdue the excuses offered can't be used this time.  I think it's interesting that instead of being pissed that their fellow students are blowing off the games, those attending are apparently defending status quo by saying people are just moving down low.  I don't know how old you are but if you've been around for more than five years (and specifically in the late 70's, 80's and 90's you know that simply isn't so.  Students have always moved down low and the section was still overfilled with no visable empty seats anywhere.  Look at shots taken during any of the big games back then and I challenge you to find any openings much less 3-5 entire rows being deserted.

I 100% agree that the students make exponentially more noise than the rest of us put together.  Which is exactly WHY i want them there and not hanging out in the dorms.  For whatever reason people missed that point entirely.

I deleted the thread because the comments weren't staying civil. If there were one or two long threads of back and forth "screw you" type comments, then I'd delete those. Unfortunately, that's not what happened in that thread. The thread was deleted because it wasn't civil, which was why I made the comment in my deletion post that I should have deleted it earlier. I personally find the topic irritating, that's not why it was deleted.

Bottom line, if a student is an active commenter here, they're probably in a seat for kickoff against Nebraska. If not, who knows, but the answer isn't here.

I've been attending games for about 25 years (13 as an adult) and I really don't notice a difference--except scanning the tickets leads to longer delays at the gates than in years past. The student section has always been a little slow to fill (particularly for noon starts). Michigan just managed 113,000+ last week. It's pretty hard to call out attendance numbers after that.

FWIW, I don't think you were being uncivil, it's just part of my job to keep the namecalling down.

Wow, at least five posters were surprised former Michigan players said they were from their high school instead of Michigan.

Seriously, I deleted four threads within two minutes.

Is there a reason that the "TWIS is up" or "Michigan at the Ozone" is up posts are allowed to continue? It's not like if Rittenberg posts something on ESPN or Woj posts something on DetNews, it always gets up on the board...plus when people are annoyed by the posts they tend to say stupid things on the topic. I feel like Brian can include that in his post if he wants or people can find it through the side tab on the the left side of the screen.

I love MGoBlog too, but the PSU threads from last week and the Meyer-to-OSU threads this week are going to be the death of me. No more Meyer-to-OSU threads until the news is substantiated, please.

Of the half sentence variety in 19 hours....what is this guy up to?

Setting up some massive trolling.

And is there anyone other than FA who can start a new one of these threads?  800 posts are beginning to cause script errors when the page tries to load.
