Moderator Action Sticky

Submitted by formerlyanonymous on

Brian has requested that instead of deleting each individual comment in the Moderator Action Sticky, that we instead just create a new thread. It takes hours of less time, preserves the comments for future explanations, and just clears things up faster.

You'll notice that the previous thread is now locked, and will slowly fade back into darkness. For the time being, the link from the Useful Stuff menu will point to the wrong location. We're working on a fix for that.

This thread is an ad-hoc way of tracking what threads and comments get removed. Mods that remove a thread should post the title here with a brief reason as to why the thread is gone.

NOTE: if you leave an irrelevant comment in this thread it will be deleted.

New Thread.

So far, the difference between the two Gregs is like the difference between night and day.  I think that much is apparent to all.  Lets let bygones be bygones so GERG can care for his hair in peace.

No, No, NO!

OP, I feel your pain with not having access to low-profile games in your hometown but requests for arguably unlawful assistance (solicitations for access to paywalled or password-protected sites) cannot stand.  Gotta protect Brian's livelihood and our beloved information source, know what I mean?  I think you got some responses before I got to the thread so maybe your dilemna is over.  I hate to think of a Michigan fan without access to games, but sometimes it pays to pay.  If there are insufficient funds for satellite TV, maybe you should cut back on less important expenditures (e.g.  water, food, heating/cooling, etc.)

Already posted and de-posted. Good idea to check the mod thread if you're about to post something that seems on the edge of appropriateness.

Glen Rice. Sarah Palin. Hookup. 1987.

Please note this in the most sober possible way: Sarah Palin and Glen Rice done got it on

First thread deleted per existing precedent.  Second thread retained but commenting ability blocked so that MGoMembers (a) can be informed members of the community vis-a-vis Glen Rice, and (b) will refrain from re-posting the de-posted going forward.

Michigan Fans Save ND Fan's Life

Different title but same story as previous post.  No harm, no foul.

Michigan Fans help ND fan during heart attack

Patience wearing thin - if you see an article about Michigan sports on ESPN.com, assume it has already been posted on the Board and do a thorough search before posting it yourself.

NCAA Shame - Revisited

I hate to remove all the content because its clear that you put a lot of time and thought into it but it is more properly posted as a comment to the Diary entry.  In other words, "revisits" do not warrant separate threads generally - simply "visit" in the original thread.

Please feel free to post your content in the original thread and spark additional discussion.

Webstream

Crappy title?  Check.  Question for Board without doing own research first?  Check.

C'mon guys/gals - if you have a question whose answer will benefit the collective MGoCommunity, please do ask.  However, take a few minutes to do your own research instead of sitting back and letting others do it for you.  That's just plain inconsiderate (and reminds me of a supervisor I once had that I really, really did not like.)

Cleanup on Aisle 3. I unlocked my original thread so you all can comment. I meant it to be a simple notice but I failed to anticipate that some may have questions. StephenRKass, I'll respond to you in my original thread when I get a minute. Thanks.

hail2thevict0r said it best...

This is listed as ITEM 1, the very first thing on the front page, with the entire quote, in context, within that article. We really don't need a thread discussing ESPN's coverage of the same.

Kyle Turley Crying Again - You Mad Bro

Turley apparently suffered serious mental trauma during his career and radio stations enjoy using him for "good" radio.  But making fun of him is obviously not cool (my attempt at humor in this thread included).  I'm sure most people didn't realize the extent of his injuries but, now on notice, please no more making fun of Kyle Turley.

(If people really need to hear what he said, the OP informs that Turley was on a "podcast with Mike Stone on 97.1 in Detroit.")

A modest proposal for honoring past players' jersey numbers

I'm not sure what to say.  I think the OT was meant to be sarcastic and thus funny, and it kind of was (??).  But, on the other hand, it wasn't.  OP has been funny in the past but this one fell short.

What do you think of these t-shirts?

Call me crazy, but I don't think its a good idea to be asking the collective MGoCommunity to opine on arguably unlawful activities (selling t-shirts depicting someone else's likeness without prior approval).  I like a good t-shirt as much as the next guy, but I don't think it is fair or responsible to ask the MGoCommunity to "conspire" in these kinds of business ventures.  Good luck to you, but you go it alone.

I'm happy with ***, but...

I racked my brain for a way to explain why this thread was a horrible idea.  America had a good response to it in saying it was simply "dumb."    Airvipermb thnks it might be the "worst post ever on MGoBlog."  However, I think that M-Wolverine said it best:

2 Tickets left for SDSU game

We unpublished one of these posts already today, as can be seen clearly above.  And you knew that the ticket spreadsheet exists.  However, you willfully posted this thread in the face of the aforementioned facts.  The 2000 points you have therefor lost will return in 1 month's time.  No soup for you!
