Mock Rock 2012

Submitted by Blu on

The event is a pretty awesome way for the student athletes to give back to the community. Proceeds go to Mott Children's Hospital, Big Brothers Big Sisters of Washtenaw County, and Student-Athletes Leading Social Change.  Thoughts?

Mock Rock is a great event!  I've always enjoyed going, it's quite entertaining and is for a good cause.  Sadly I had an exam tonight and couldn't make it.

**Update**

Combined Track and Field got First Place.

The 2011 champion was the MMB, but were exhibition this year and not judged.

It was all around pretty good this year, my wife and I have been going since 04. Dana Jacobsen was the MC and she did a good job. It was the best performance I've ever seen the football team put on. Will Hagerup brought the guitar skills, Jack Kennedy added the flow and Taylor Lewan was absolutely hilarious. Oh and Denard and Roundtree were involved as well. They performed with the women's volleyball team. Track and field won on a pretty good number. Our new soccer coach also showed off his awesotoo rapping skills too. I thought the hockey team was good but not up to their usual standard of hilarity, but I don't know if anything will ever beat Milan Gajic and the team doing Riverdance for me. And the soccer team misses Cam Camerons insane dancing skills...if anyone gets the opportunity I highly recommend it. It's good for a lot of laughs and all the money goes to charity.

Is it kind of like a talent show for the athletic departments? if so, that's really cool! And if it's for charity, I'm an even bigger fan. I wish Bama would have done this 3 years ago. I'd pay good money to see Terrance Cody do the first 3 scenes from the H.M.S Pinafore.

There was a wrestler at Michigan named Jeff Reese, who passed away in 1999.  Mock Rock was formed as a tribute to him, with proceeds going to Jeff Reese Endowed Scholarship Fund.  Per MGoBlue.com, once the scholarship was fully endowed, funds now go to benefit other organizations.  This year it's U-M's C.S. Mott Children's Hospital, Big Brother Big Sister of Washtenaw County, and Student-Athletes Leading Social Change.
