Mock 2016 Drafts: 3 B1G QBs going in top 10

No B1G QB has been drafted in the 1st round since Kerry Collins in 95 (I was quite surprised to read this).

This article has Cardale Jones, Hackenburg, and Cook all going in the top 10, and a bevy of other OSU and MSU players in the 1st round as well.

Who on our roster has the best chance to go in the top 3 rounds next year? Butt? A Harbaugh'ed Ruddock?

That's a good example. Considering that will have been 9 years ago come next draft, that doesn't bode well for Hack.

And Cutler had the excuse of being at a program with poor talent around him and a very tough schedule. Hack has that a little, but both to a lesser extent than Cutler did. Hackenberg has had, so far, 2 NFL draft picks to throw too, and that number could be 5 or 6 once these younger guys declare.

Another guy I thought of was Josh Freeman. In fact, he had 44 touchdowns to 34 interceptions. And I tried to find his official record as a college starter but I could not find his record. I don't think he had a winning record though. I think Hack is more talented than Freeman, and I imagine he should have better stats when entering the draft. So I do think Hack has a chance, but I did say I think he goes between 20 and the second round for now. I think just on talent and hype alone Hack could get into the second round. Heck I think BOB will take him in the second if he's there, should Hack declare early.

Hackenberg had some inflated stats his frosh year because of Allen Robinson who was incredible as a college WR.  Without that this year, Hack's stats took a big decline.  He had almost the exact same yardage but with 92(!) more attempts.  He had 8 fewer TD, 5 more INTs and took 23(!) more sacks.  These are not good trends.

Hackenberg has been a decent between-the-20s QB, but hasn't been able to punch it in.  And that's only going to get worse this fall after losing his top red zone threat in Jesse James, who led the team in TDs last fall.

Cardale and Cook going that high is pretty risky, IMO.  Hackenberg, yeah, I can see.  He's a good QB who was protected by a pretty awful OL.

Cardale was just plugged in and went, just like Braxton, and just like Barrett.  Whatever GM doesn't see that will be in for a not so happy surprise when they draft him.

can't stress enough how meaningless any mock draft is before the combine, let alone one 4 months before the season starts lol

Cardale is a real NFL QB. Connor Cook makes John Navarre look like Tom Brady. He's so average it hurts. He's very successful and will have somewhat of an NFL career, but whatever team wants to use a top 10 pick on him is just insulting the real top 10 talents

I might be the only left on earth who likes JT Barrett more than Cardale Jones.  Will be interesting to see who wins the job but he seems to have been completely written as everyone is handing the job to Jones.

Jones has the bigger arm but Barrett is the better QB.  He's more accurate as a passer and is a better athlete.  Jones has the advantage of being able to truck college LBs, but that won't fly in the NFL.  He'll get exposed for what he is - an average athlete with good size for a college QB and a big arm.

I can't see any of these guys going in the top 10, much less all three of them.  Hack probably gets a mid-first round call, my guess is Cook ends up as a late first/early second round guy, and Jones ends up back at OSU for his junior year.

Cook should not be a first round pick.  He has problems reading college defences and thinks his arm is way better than it is.  He is the most overrated player in college football.

The team that wastes a first-round pick on Connor Cook deserves to be a top-5 draft pick team the next year.

Cardale Jones has, what, three games in his college career?  There is so little tape on him, both of scouts and opposing defenses, that mocking him as a top-10 pick shows how useless these types of projections are.

Hack I could see working out with better protection, but he's still a guy with good mechanic but nothing "elite".

How can Cardale Jones, who has 300 or so snaps of film on tape, be projected as a top 10 pick? This is nonsense of the highest order.

Geez ... I just read a mock draft that had 3 Ole Miss players going top 5. Laremy Tunsil at 2, LaQuon Treadwell at 4 and Robert Nkemdiche at 5
