MOAR uniform speculation!

Submitted by kaykaybroke on

It's the off-season guys. Please don't kill me.

This picture was from a post-visit reaction peace by Tremendous, but has a picture inside the Michigan locker room, where you can see some of the alternate uni's from last year. You see the throwback jersey's from Notre Dame, and *sigh* the ones from MSU as well.

Whether this means the team has been practicing in these, or plans to wear both for our prime-time games this season remains to be seen. Are these the two that are most likely going to be used?

Commence speculation.

[EDIT: interesting note.... the helmets have blue facemasks and are void of numbers! WOOT]

I don't know that this tells us anything.
More generally, my position hasn't changed. Do whatever you want with the road unis. Just leave the home unis alone.

I'm pretty sure there is a way for us to have alternate jerseys without making our team look like they are a bunch of clowns.  Just because Adidas is our uniform maker doesn't mean that every f****** uniform accent must be a g****** stripe of some sort.

I hate Nike and I hate their alternate uniforms, but even they don't exclusively use the swoosh as their only design guide.

As I have said before....I love the white pants.

I could go with all white as long as the jersey as sorta of like the 99 one's with brady and company. Hell ever the sugar bowl tops weren't to bad.

I'm pretty sure this is just set up so recruits can look and try in various Michigan gear. I doubt this has anything to do with what we will wear in the future, and that next year everything we wear in 2012 will be on display as well.

And play wr. Mealer has slimmed down so much that he is now moving into the qb spot and Gardner has put on enough weight that he is taking on Mealers spot on the line. It is the only logical explanation.

Helmet numbers are here to stay, and there will be BLUE facemasks for the season per Sam Webb.

If these different Jerseys will be in NCAA Football 13? I personally think they're cool.

Those aways wouldn't be bad with maize pants... Or all white minus the maize on the jersey just the blue stripes kinda like the sugar bowl jerseys.

There are two #7 jerseys, from what I can see, and the items on the bench look rather carefully laid out. I would say  that someone put some thought into the shot to begin with. The footballs are almost perfectly aligned too. My only speculation is that this poor kid did a lot of waiting before the photographer thought he was ready to proceed with actual images.

Helmet numbers are probably off since it would be pointless to have them on during summer practices and such. Just a waste of money if they keep falling off during practice.

Lots of weird things going on with this shot.  I would have to agree its only for recruiting purposes and has no bearing on what we'll do in the future.

I really like how Dave Brandon said he's not averse to doing new jerseys on "special occasions".  How many of those will there be every year?  I wouldn't mind so much if it was a once-every-five-year Jerryworld extravaganza type deal.  Like the UTL game.  That was historic.  MSU and the Sugar Bowl?  Not so much.

and then proceed to post on it, when it would be a better use of my time to watch the replay (showing right now until 7pm) on BTN of the 2011 Victory over Ohio!?!

(p.s.:good use of the Stevie Wonder meme, though)

There are no helmet numbers shown in this photo since they are only on the left side of the helmets (I believe)

Several other recruits have posted the same type of photo in the locker room, which is clearly staged for recruiting efforts (although I would hide the bumble bee unis in the darkest closet I could find).

I am one of the few that is hoping that the helmet numbers are gone, but I think they are great for special occasions. I wouldn't be surprised in the not so distant future to see jerseys that have a more modern look to them. The previous alternate uniforms had an old fashion look. So I expect adidas to take them in a different direction. Like it or not the maize jersey is coming.

I dislike the helmet numbers too.  They ruin a great helmet and don't mesh well with the rest of it.  Also, maize jerseys would be horrible.  I'm terrified of the future if last season is any indication what will happen later on.  Our Sugar Bowl jerseys were pretty good but the UTL jerseys were bad looking and the MSU jerseys were most certainely the ugliest thing I've ever seen on a football field (Even Maryland's flag jersey is better).

Last season was a disaster look-wise and I know it's going to get worse and I just can't stand it.  We don't need a hundred jerseys.  We don't need a bunch of "special occassion" jerseys either.  The helmet numbers ruin the helmet and whoever is designing the jerseys keeps forgetting their glasses as they obviously can't see what the damn thing actually looks like.  I want the damn tradition back.  I hate the "recruits and players love it" shit because it doesn't matter to them in the end despite what they say (hello Texas, USC, Alabama, Florida, LSU, Ohio State, etc. - Most of them wore pro combat uniforms for a game, not constant changing into jerseys saved from the dump yard).
