MOAR basking!!!

Submitted by CLord on

Moar basking in the glory of this basketball team! In the glory of this coach!  How many times in our lifetimes will be bear witness to such an incredible season, especially relative to expectations when McGary went down?

What odds would Vegas have placed on Michigan winning the BiG outright after losing Hardaway and POY Burke, AND their new #1 guy McGary?  I cannot fathom.  When was the last time a team that isn't a hype/recruit factory like Kansas/Duke/Kentucky didn't win its conference, then lost its top 3 guys, and came in the next year and won it outright?  I MUST BASK AND SAVOR THIS.  I MUST DRINK DEEP OF THE GLORY BEFORE ME.  I KNEEL BEFORE ZOD!

Is Beilein the best coach the University of Michigan has had not named Bo, Yost or Berenson?  I realize we haven't won any NCs yet, but from the dredges that Beilein inherited to this?

RAPTURE!!!!  SOMEONE LINK RAPTURE MAN!!!

Been following this team since my freshman year in 1986 and NEVER has a UM basketball team brought me more joy than this one!  (OK '89 did but that was a long time ago and I forgot how it felt!)

BLESS YOU Mr. Beilein!  From all us married alums who must now ball vicariously through your student-athletes, THANK YOU!!!

GOOO BLUE!!!!!!

Don't forget Crisler - not to mention Urbanchek and Hutchins. But yeah, Beilein's pretty awesome.

but I didn't watch until 2001 when I became a student.  I did retroactively look into Bo a bit, and Beilein is my favorite coach ever.  He is the perfect head coach in my opinion.  Absolutely fantastic.

If only Stauskas leaves, then its fair to say that next year were the favorites. The key right now going forward is LeVert and McGary staying one more year. The momentum could sustain us for a decade of greatness.

I BASK FURTHER!  This season even gave us a buzzer beater in our favor!  So many cold, cold memories of the Evan Turners and pasty Wisconsin kids with their half court heaves!  And balls rattling off rims, but not this year.  This year was MICHIGAN's year.  Deep I drink from the chalice of joy.

I couldn't find any progression of projected odds of winning the Big Ten (and we have, so they are 100% now), but perhaps as a vague indicator of our progress, consider that we were thought of as 50/1 to win it all back in early January. As of just this morning, our projected odds are now at 22/1. Considering the field this year, or at least how it will likely look, I will take that.

YESSS!!!  That is how I feel and how we should ALL feel this week!  In rapture with Josh Gasser of Wisconsin inexplicably rapturing in a yellow shirt behind us, and a hot, blonde co-ed also rapturing it up to our left, and with Seth Rogan bouncing up and down to her left and then turning to her for approval!  GLORIOUS!!!

Between this and that weird Jalen Rose thread last night, I have no idea what the hell is going on around here anymore.

Remember when no one gave a shit about basketball, and Brian just flat-out ignored it after around mid-January?

After the Fab 5 beat Kentucky to make the NC game in '92-'92 (can't recall) I got pulled over for not doing much of anything because I think Ann Arbor cops were on high alert for drunk drivers after such an epic win.  I'd had a couple but wasn't drunk and they let me off.  Coincidence you brought that up but yeah, I had a couple, three cocktails last night.  Hung over now, but EFF YEAH I BASK ON IN RIGHTEOUS GLORY!  GO BIG BLUE!!!

Thou speakest truth CLord!  And sing it joyously whilst thou can.

The wheel is come full circle and we should fete fate's fickle choices! Yet be wary that thou not be burned by her beautious rays as thou baskest in thine glories from Stauskas baskets.  A gnat yet alights on the wheel and high swings to low ere we blink.

Helll yeah deputy hell yeah.  They say it's better to have loved then lost than never to have loved at all.  Well what's even better is to have loved (Rice years, Fab Five), lost (Ellerbe/Amaker years of sadness), and then to have LOVED AGAIN.  The appreciation is so much deeper when you can contrast the current success and greatness against years of misery, woe and dread.

Add that Beilein's just such an incredibly likeable old chap you'd want mentoring any young person you cared about, and that's what Michigan's all about.
