Drake Harris on twitter said that Mo Ways got his offer from Michigan tonight and to "join the family" So commit watch may be on and if so does Scott or Williams jump?
Mo Ways gets his michigan offer. Commit watch??
Wow, it is hard to find this guy if you Google search "Mo Ways." If you're in the same pickle, try "Maurice Ways."
Maybe try Moe Ways?
Here's his junior film from youtube.. it is highlight tape, but you can definitely see why the coaches offered him.
Thanks for the link. A lot of nice plays, but I love when he caught a screen pass and destroyed the CB with a stiff arm.
By the way, who is the QB tossing him all those passes? Kid looks pretty good.
but if you are and for those who may wonder the same, his name is Tyler Weigers and he just committed to Rutgers last week. Ive seen some people ask sarcastically as well as an equal amount generally serious. To whom it may concern:
Thanks. I was serious. I live out in Colorado now and rely on the info here on this site to keep up with Michigan HS football.
I, too, was impressed by the QB. Nice zip when needed to thread the needle and was able to take a bit off when he needed to lob it over a defender. Not surprised to see him get (and accept) a BCS-level offer.
FWIW, I ranked Wiegers #4 of the QB prospects Michigan was considering (behind Cornwell, O'Connor, and Henderson).
Classic Magnus oversell
we should also have a chat with the QB who seems to hit him in stride most of the time. Kid can sling it.
there are Mo Ways than one to find him on the internet!
Relatively unknown guy forcing highly ranked dudes to commit? Unlikely
There R only three spots*
Well, it's more of a freelance gig
at least I get it
We're going to have to write you a ticket for impersonating an officer.
I'm excited for this kid. I think he's got huge upside and great potential to be a serious weapon in our offense. Having Drake Harris and Mo Ways... great wide receiver haul for the '14 class. If Ways drops, then I think KJ would be next.
This kid is the real deal! Reminds me of Braylon Edwards. He would be a huge get as wide receiver. Harris in the slot and Ways out wide would be scary in 2-3 years.
Most likely they'd both be split wide. They're looking at players like Artavis Scott for the slot role.
(KJ Williams potential commitment notwithstanding)
I would not go that far, the kid has a lot of potential but can get pushed around very easily. I coached against him this last year and against our piss poor secondary he only had 2 receptions for minimal yardage. Don't get me wrong the kid is good but not Braylon good.
I hope your players don't read this blog.. lol
you if I could! lol Way to go coach! lol
And hey "coach" you of all should know its about attributes. Coaches, well real coaches, teach kids to be great, as long as some of the building blocks are in place. Far be it for me though, to question your undoubtedly legendary coaching repertoire.
Maybe he's the receivers coach.
Likewise. Our secondary didn't have a player who could be a ball boy at Michigan, and Ways was kept in check.
That's weird. You have a piss poor secondary...so against the teams that presumably have better secondaries, he had 49 catches for about 950 yards and 9 touchdowns.
Maybe he was just having an off night. Or maybe his QB was having an off night.
Is not a slot.
seems like we are stuck with all these tall, fast type wide recievers with the current coaching regime.
if Ways were to commit, and it'd be a slot guy like Scott or McCaffrey.
plus whoever commits first (Ways/Williams)
and then Scott
Man, we have been eating well off these local receivers. I dig it!
It was only a matter of time, Tremendous had hinted that this offer was coming sooner rather than later.
I was really hoping we would offer him after watching his film
Looks like Randy Moss, but more of an athletic freak.
Stop reading mgoblog and get back to work.
Ok. Fred Jackson
I've been on the Maurice Ways bandwagon since I saw his junior film. I thought he might have to wait a little longer, but he's a pretty good athlete. I've heard that he's inconsistent catching the ball, but hopefully he can shore up that aspect of his game.
After all, a WR who doesn't catch passes isn't very useful unless his name is Walter Smith.
Detroit Mackenzie. His 'wordsmithing. was a art of beauty. Talkabout a 'coach killer'...pretty much NAILED it on a certain tuos coach. I still chuckle about it today...
He looks like he has good tools. Goes up and catches the ball, runs pretty good routes, long and athletic, and has good enough speed to be a solid possession type. Reminds me a bit of an Adrian Arrington type.
Reminds me a bit of an Adrian Arrington type.
I'd take that in a heartbeat.
Another Braylon comparison...
Worked for Roy Roundtree
Williams could commit as soon as this weekend, after his Syracuse visit.
I was glad to see some jump balls in the highlights, because the first few throws were on the money. He can get seperation from highschoolers, sure, but he might not do quite so well at the college level at that. Fortunately, if you're 6'4" and can jump, you're in good shape.
Who is this quaterback?! and is this tape for the QB or the receiver?
and I have been debating this a little on Twitter. Ways is on the outside, so if he commits it likely means no Holmes or Williams - the 3rd WR would ideally be a slot guy. He's not sure how high Michigan is on Holmes' list to begin with. If that's the case, kind of makes sense why they'd offer Ways....I still wish they would have waited. He seems like a lock to commit very soon, maybe too soon.
Holmes could play in the slot. And I'm higher on Ways than Williams, anyway. Add in Holmes or Scott and we're good.
If we get a 3 WR class of Harris, Ways and Scott or Holmes, that's legit. But I won't lie - if the offer to Ways or an early commit from Ways ends up costing us a chance with Scott or Holmes, I'll be a little disappointed. I was really warming up to the idea of landing not 1 but 2 high end WRs in this class. With the way Ohio has recruited DB's the last 2 years, we're going to need as many high end WRs as we can find.
Ways' film is impressive. Mo Blue!
Hell, get the qb too. Lot of on the money downfield throws first few minutes of that highlight reel.
Tape looks good. What do the recruiting sites say about him?
And he throws a mean fade so I looked him up. If anyone is curious, his name is Tyler Wiegers, 3 star on 24/7 and recently committed to Rutgers. CMU and WMU also offered, FWIW.
DCD has Poet Thomas and a good linebacker whose name escapes me. When we played them last year, the linebacker impressed me the most, Poet the least.
Thirty seven comments and no puns with his name. I'm surprised. There's obviously mo ways than one to do it.
A Mo Ways commit just means mo ways to score. Huh? Huh?
I mean, I refrained from making that pun a long time ago, but you just went there. You really went there.
Gotta love the "I'm hungry, need to eat" jesture after one of his catches.
to stop him from scoring!
His name ain't Naurice!
Just watched Ways jr highlight video and realized that is my cheerleader daughter that he almost takes out on the Seaholm sidelines. She was too quick for him though.
My high school is the Chemics. Your Maples got nothing on that lol.
In case you were wondering, a Chemic is supposed to be like a chemist who goes out in the field and does a lot of hard work.
HS mascot was a Shorian.... If you can beat that/explain to the general population what that is, then you can have he crown.
My first guess was people by the shore. After looking it up and St. Clair Shores being the only thing I could find, I think I was right. Yeah, upvote me NOW! lol
Also, we really don't know if that's what a Chemic is, that was just some teachers' best guess. The school logo is an atom and the only physical mascot they have is Vic the lion.
I'm guessing a Shorian is a person from or related to a shore of some kind. Is your high school located on a waterway or something?
I'm a fellow Shorian and my kids are Maples. All of us got screwed with the HS nicknames.
Saw Borges yesterday at DCD watching Ways run some routes and catch the ball. The kid looks legit, I would say he's closer to 6'2 though. Weigers looks like he's gonna be a multi-year starter at Rutgers. Big, strong QB.
We all know that D'antonio owns the state of Michigan.
I have buckled up!
