We need to trade the Ford family
October 5th, 2015 at 9:18 PM ^
As Martha Ford is the majority owner now, I am interested in theories on how this trade would go down actually. Grosse Pointe would lose a ton of tax revenue if you traded the whole family (as would Superior Township, if we're talking about William Clay Ford, Jr.), so I think we have to be careful here when making such a trade.
October 5th, 2015 at 9:27 PM ^
The tax base losses will be offset by the revenue generated by having the abiilty to compete for a SuperBowl. That infamous curse laid down in the 50s won't leave us as long until the Fords are in the rear view mirror.
October 5th, 2015 at 8:50 PM ^
the past 5 years and they still can't block anyone. Unbelievable.

Warford has been subpar since his rookie year.
October 5th, 2015 at 9:05 PM ^
Reiff and Waddle also have taken step backs. I think it has everything to do with Lombardi and the scheme. These guys were brought in to run a different blocking scheme by Schwartz and Linehan.
October 5th, 2015 at 9:02 PM ^
Stafford is so bad
October 5th, 2015 at 9:06 PM ^
done anything bad tonight, The playcalling and oline is a joke. Even the best qbs can't overcome that.
October 5th, 2015 at 9:07 PM ^
Do you think he is superman? Why rip Stafford when it is the line that is the bigger problem?
October 5th, 2015 at 9:10 PM ^
It was a general statement. I've said that every game the past two seasons for the most part
October 5th, 2015 at 9:20 PM ^
have any insight on who you think is better that is readily available either in the NFL right now or will be in the upcoming draft? In my opinion there isn't really anyone out there better than Stafford outside like the top 10-15 NFL qbs. Stafford might not be elite but he's is better than any other realistic option.
I have always kind of wanted to see Mike Vick throwing bombs to Calvin though lol.
October 5th, 2015 at 9:19 PM ^
He was brought in to make Stafford better and he has made him worse. The scheme just does not fit him.
October 5th, 2015 at 9:25 PM ^
they both have been trying to make him into Peyton Manning/Drew Brees but that is not the type of qb he is at all. He isn't a perfect fundamental precision qb like those guys he is a gunslinger and gamer like Brett Favre.
October 5th, 2015 at 9:28 PM ^
His impact on Manning is greatly overrated. Manning was already an excellent QB when he got there.
October 5th, 2015 at 9:05 PM ^
Soooo, I just turned the game on expecting the Lions to already be down 14-0 and it's 0-0.
What's going on?
October 5th, 2015 at 9:11 PM ^
Dont worry it will happen soon
October 5th, 2015 at 9:08 PM ^
I'm not a Stafford defender at all but shit, he's got zero shot to hit a pass when his Center and Right Tackle can't block for longer than 1 second.
October 5th, 2015 at 9:42 PM ^
The O-line is way worse than last year.

October 5th, 2015 at 9:21 PM ^
just look at him at any time! He's just a spectator. He has that confused/lost 1,000 yard stare you do not want to see in your HC. Lombardi would be a HS coach if not for his last name, too.

I've stopped caring about the Lions the day Barry retired. It's funny to me now. Yet, as a fan of any team would you want that duo? I'd love your input, Lion fan or not. I'd say "no". Obviously
October 5th, 2015 at 9:40 PM ^
According to John Harbaugh's interview during the game on Saturday a good coach at any level is a good coach. Are you implying that he'd suck at high school too?

I know great HS HCs that would get curbed at any higher level. Most HS coaches are old player alums that never played after HS or you gey lucky and they played some form of CFB. Half my buddies are now HS coaches and zero of them would win a D-3 game haha

I'm watching dancing with the stars and following the lions game on a live blog... And I'm not ashamed to say it. The dancers are something else.

Go Seahawks. I don't know why anyone still supports the lions. They will never win with the Fords as owners.

What's the next excuse for the lions? Caldwell, Lombardi? Mayhew? Same ol Lions. Been the same for almost 6 decades.

The defense got better but the offense got much worse since the Caldwell hire. Stafford is the quintessential 'too good to get rid of but not good enough to win big with' QB. Yet, what Lombardi has done is just really bad so that's not helping. I'm not sure but I think it goes up to the Ford family. There has to be a reason why big names avoid taking the job even when we had a decent QB, Johnson, etc. HCs avoid Detroit and I've stopped caring why as in not a big NFL fan anyway.
October 5th, 2015 at 9:57 PM ^
The Lions have had two coaches who lead teams to Super Bowls as head coach.(Ross and Caldwell) They also had Steve Mariucci who was a respected HC at the time of the hire. The Lions have made efforts at hiring hot coordinators and proven commodities and still failed.
I do agree that the Fords are incompetent, but I also believe that they are earnestly trying to win. They just can't figure it out.
October 5th, 2015 at 10:02 PM ^
If you hate the Lions so much why post in the thread?
October 5th, 2015 at 10:04 PM ^
Cause you guys are too blind in your loyalty to the lions. I gave up and now pull for the Packers.

It's called fandom. The Lions are the NFL team that represents Detroit. We cheer them on. Why you care so much that we do is really strange.

have a real high draft pick. They do have some pieces in place.
October 5th, 2015 at 10:38 PM ^
No they don't. They still are paying suh. Stafford's contract is back loaded and will go upwards of $20M + in 2016. They will most likely sign Stafford to a dumbass contract. Stafford will get yet another coach fired. They have zero pieces in place. They never will with the Fords as owners.

If you don't win the super bowl it's a failure. The Lions didn't belong in the playoffs. They were completely outclassed.
