Is Iowa supposed to be hideous again this year?
Is Iowa supposed to be hideous again this year?
I am drinking Double Crooked Tree and loving this game. I went to the IU vs NC State game last year. I wish I was in A2 for this one.
without Skip Bayless and Stephen Smith.
Anyone see the watch Denard was wearing? Damn...
good call bro!
you think he got that in deerfield?
I'm not saying, I'm just saying...
Is that the Reactor watch from the Sugar Bowl?
I almost said something, but I didn't want to put myself on an island there.
Burke - Albrecht - Vogrich - Horford - THJ
That can beat their opponent in multiple ways. It's going to be a fun year!
Shouldn't James McAdoo Jr have been playing for Michigan? Just sayin.
Sounds like a character from Harry Potter
We need your all-star children!
your scions are belong to us
My only problem with this team on the offensive side of the ball so far is that Burke is showing a tendency to drive and throw up wild layups a little too often. The team is talented enough that he doesn't need to do that. Plus he seems to twist away from the contact a lot of the time so he doesn't even draw the foul. Other than that, the offense is insane.
Trey taking mean advantage of, well, everyone
Really is looking like a preseason All American
can we get mcgrary in at Tight End?
Funchess at C?
nah, sorry... that's just being too greedy.
Really is looking like a preseason All American
Wow. Just wow.
This team is insane. Absolutely insane
to watch, I love this team
Man, Stauskas is deadly if you leave him open like that
Call traveling refs...
Bobby Knight once said that you can basically call traveling on every possesion, the refs just miss it or choose not to call it.
He is also smart in picking the better shot.
DAYUM, I was just tryna score
Made me enjoy football more by teaching me more about the game, I find the same happening with basketball. I never could get interested in years before but this is fun!
Beilein has been really patient the past three or four years, waiting for this team.
This team is good!!!
Good to see that I wasn't the only one to notice Denard's watch...
Is shot blocking. Hopefully Horford and Mitch can start rejecting a few people.
only commit 4 turnovers in a game
Dman McGary does hustle like Novak
Jordan Morgan would make a great Michigan State WR
mugging him, come on
Offense in a mini-funk right now. Can't let NCSt. build up some momentum for the home stretch.
Damn...Does he LOVE LESLIE
I love Leslie. He's really really good.
You mean DAYUM!
Espn puts up that Michigan hasn't turned the ball over in 25 minutes, then bamn! Turnover next possession.
This is getting a little too close, fellas.
Letting them hang around again
Knocking on my hardwood floors, but I don't see us blowing this thing. However I am mildly nervous. I thought we were getting a little comfortable with the lead and passing up too many easy points to kill clock. I get the strategy but you can't pass up points.
Get Morgan back in.
come on step it up guys.
we need to close this game out
offense is baffling right now
plus, McGary making his presence felt for sure
McGary is still pretty raw on the offensive end
We haven't done anything since the students started chanting na na na na goodbye with 6 minutes left.
Wow we got really lucky there. Morgan just needs to drive that to the rim.
Edit: don't know why I replied to you.
Also, Stauskas needs to take initiative a little more and shoot when he's got the shot.
McGary doesn't look very comfortable with the ball in his hands
to close this one out. I love all the players we have, a ton of weapons.. but with this drought here near the end... watch Trey, the leader, close it out.
This one's on the students for chanting 'goodbye' with 5 minutes left.
They were chanting that becuase the NC State guy fouled out.
to the rim.
When I look at those banners, I don't like that 26-year gap between Big 10 titles.
all these time outs might have messed with NCST's momentum
and loses to VT 95-79 FYI
Been beating them pretty handily all game, would hate to see this one slip away.
Random aside, Minnesota is really Good and they're destroying FSU right now. I'll put them in the upper 2nd tier of the B1G right behind UM/IU/MSU/OSU but as good or better than anyone else in the conference and very dangerous
What the fuck morgan.. and that the fuck.. 3 point play
That was a charge.
What is up with these possessions? We cannot get one good shot off when we run the clock.
Jordan Morgan would fit in perfectly as an MSU Wide Receiver. Worst.Hands.Ever.
is infinitely closer than it should be
How long has it been since we took a decent shot?
Why is Stauskas passing up the dagger threes?
One time he got a low pass - not great to shoot from.
That little 10-0 run we gave up turned this from a blow out into a coming free throw battle
Don't like how we're finishing.
Our offense is too high-octane now with our weapons to be a possession, shot clock draining offense
Starting to sweat.....
Thank you, THjr!!
We need to get a little better at closing teams out. Same thing happened to Pitt.
Young team, expected problem.
Completely agree, but a problem nonetheless.
huge bucket by THJ
good drive Timmy.. take the game over
Huge bucket. Great finish. Now stick on Scott Wood. No 3s!
with a huuuuuuuuuge bucket
Nice drive!! Needed that from Hardaway
Young teams give up leads. It is just the way it is. The Fab Five used to do this all the time. By march they will be putting teams away.
Shit! Lotta time left wtf
Sheesh we're just letting NC State come back
damn this game could have been a blowout
GET A STOP!
Not a very good time for a turnover...
Is borges calling the 2nd half offense for the B-Ball team too?
Jb's face says it all
someone gif that Beilein dance
like he's got rabies
to the lloyd offense for the last 7 minutes of the game
what I was thinking. Good grief. Played not to lose starting at about 5 to go. They'll fix that. Good learning experience.
A few clergy type guys behind TIrico. Did not expect to see that
Lol bs call ftmfw
Nice make-up call for the charge no-call earlier...
I can't believe this, but: thank you, ref!
TV Teddy strikes again! lol make-up
in my book, elbowed
That WAS a foul
timmy should have passed to nik there
If this was the NBA Leslie would have gotten a technical.
Ok breathing easier
ARGH! MAKE FREE THROWS!
Definitely some stuff that needs tweaking but good job on the game Michigan!!!!
Nice job boys
Nice to hear praise for our arena renovation.
Would've liked for it to have been a blow out....
roasting on the old arena. not necessary plz
It was true
won this game by 10-15. Always good to just get the W though
Need to be more consistent on D, not waste so much shot clock, but tough game experience will pay off.
So talented. Not how championship teams close out games, but it's great for the freshman to play games like this before the B1G season. Think they will be where they need to be by then.
Dan Dakich with the self depricating comments all game.
Eva eva eva eva eva be allowed back into the game unless we are up 20+ with 2 minutes left in the game.
I was watching the Pitt game with my friends who are not Michigan fans and they were luaghing at me with my reaction when he came it. They are continued to laugh when they saw him on the court. My friends are jerks.
English, motherfucker, do you speak it?
Good win. Gotta give NCState credit for hanging in there; the announcers were right, they could have folded so easily. They certainly have the talent to be elite, but thier lack of chemistry showed early. Conversely, youth showed at the end there when things went stagnet. Hopefully they can learn and step on the throat against other good teams in the future.
If NC beats Indiana tonight, which is a possibility... and OSU beats Duke tomorrow, which is also a possibility, we could very well be the #1 team in the country come Monday. How crazy would that be?
If OSU beats Duke they probably jump us in that case and go to #2 or #1, depdning on Indiana's result.
I think OSU or UNC would jump us for #1 in that scenario.
OSU would but not UNC they already have a loss to butler
Tirico (or the color guy, not sure) made a good point. Seems like we went into a shell and tried to finish the game rather than just using our athleticism and continuing to play our game. Something that will probably be addressed.
you have to work the clock a bit when you are up 15 with 5 min to play. that said, i think mcgary got to handle the ball too much up top down the stretch. burke should take better control to close out the game; dishing to thj or stauskus when needed. they make free throws.
need to hit FT's better in the end of a game and be more decisive on offense in the waning minutes.
But I'll take this win all day against an extremely long, lanky and athletic team that will be a tough out in the NCAA's, I don't want to see them again.
How do they determine who get home in this ACC/B1G challenge?
they rotate teams for home games every other year, however it seems like we played 2 in a row on the road till this year, so maybe.....thay just roll the dice, flip a coin?
In other words, I don't know either
These games are important but not as important as March. Make progress every single day and we will be just fine.
Good to have these last three games.
Have to keep pushing.
18points, 11assist, 0 turnovers. I like the way that sounds
Wow. Very impressive
Note: MMB stands for Michigan Marching Band. The basketball team is usually abbreviated here as MBB.
Anyhow, nice win! Sloppy finish, but whatever.
There was a basketball game?
There is a basketball team?!?
They got lazy at the end there, pretty sloppy. They need to correct that going forward, the B1G season is brutal.
Captain obvious, but this Indiana team looks good.
we are the SEC of basketball.
Great win, especially in come March. This N.C State team will be good. How good depends on them. They could underachieve and become a middling ACC team, make the tourney and fizzle or they could compete with Duke and UNC for the ACC title and become an Elite 8 team. The latter scenario, again, would make this late Novemeber win even better come Tournament selection time.
What will hold NC State back from being elite is their lack of depth. They essentially have a 7 man rotation and they have shown a propensity to get in foul trouble = bad combination.
Great Win. Stauskas is a baller. On another note. I got great seats from a friend. Mike Hart was sitting right in front of me. Also saw Kim English.
by this website of fandom, I award you one cookie, of your choosing
We played 30-34 solid minutes vs. a very good opponent. We definitely have to finish better. I also thought the coaching staff struggled with the subs all game.
They went with Akunne WAAAY too early and he completely killed the momentum of Stauskas with two bad shots.
It also took them waay too long to go with two bigs. NCSU was killing us inside and we brought McGary in for Morgan...then Robinson picked up a cheap foul and we brought Morgan right back in for him and that was the lineup that broke the game open.
In the 2nd half we started okay then went back to GRIII against Leslie and he was getting abused. He's also lost confidence on the offensive end. Morgan - McGary - Stauskas/Vogrich - Hardaway - Burke was our best lineup all game.
I think we're starting to see guys really find their role...the one player I'm worried about is Robinson. When you look at his face, he just doesn't seem confident like he did early on...very hesistant with the basketball as well.
With that said, we needed this win...NC St. is going to get a lot better this year and this win is going to look very good come tournament time. Not that it will matter, I truly believe that unless we get a horrible draw *knock on wood* this is a Final Four team. Just too much talent, chemistry and waves of combinations we throw on the floor.
Going back to the roles:
Morgan --- Steady inside presence...experience...pick and roll, block/charge master...needs to get more consistant catching the ball cleanly down low
Robinson --- The X-Factor (going to have to really be a consistant force)...needs to build confidence and find role on team
Vorgrich --- Gritty (trying his hardest to be Novak/Douglass, which we need)...much better defensively...scrappy...role player and has done a great job in his role all season
Hardaway --- Obvious leader...keep doing what you've been doing! All-around threat.
Burke --- See Hardaway.
Stauskas --- Perfect coming off the bench but getting starters minutes...crazy scorer...needs to get MUCH better defensively before he can be a true starter (NC St. had a NUMBER of clean shots when Stauskas was guarding the man, they just missed them)
McGary --- Energy...Tyler Hansbrough 2.0...Needs to continue to just get better in all phases
Horford --- Raw, getting better...keep doing what you're doing
Albrecht --- Perfect role player and backup PG...perfect for chemistry...needs to see a few more minutes to calm and spare Burke
--------------------------Thats your rotation------------------------
Can't forget McLimans and Bielfeldt who both can give quality post minutes off the bench.
I think this is pretty spot on minus Robinson who I think has a role already and that's as a quiet 10/8 guy who plays solid D and can guard both 3s and 4s depending on whether the opponent goes big or small. With Trey and Timmay being the undisputed #1/#2 guys, Robinson is the athletic prototype to Canadian Bacon's pure shooter.
Although, I will say that one game Little Dog is going to go for something crazy like 25/10 in a big match-up and will soon be a fixture in the lottery on mock drafts in either 2013 or 2014.
That should be "Little Big Dog"
I thought it was ok to put eso in for a bit, but after that tv time out he shouldn't have come back, it really took the wind from the Michigan sails
Great game. They didn't execute well once it was time to kill the clock but that isn't surprising since that's more about execution than talent and we're young. That will improve.
On another note Indiana is terrifying. To think they are missing quality players who will be playing soon is scary.
I was at the game tonight. First time ever and it was great. Crisler is beautiful. Go Blue!
