Exactly.  If he wants to show off his NBA chops, that means more than points.  NBA GMs know Burke can shoot and score.  But if you're going to draft a 6'0" PG, you need to know he is a great distributor, not just good.  Burke is looking like that this year.

I WAS WRONG

I just wrote above about Trey playing poorly - I didn't realize he had that many assists.  WTH?  That is incredilbe.  That is what he hasn't been able to do well in earlier games.  But if he can put up assists like this, he doesn't need to score in order for him to be a GREAT player.  9 assists in a college half is really incredible.

I feel that with this team, Burke should be dishing out about 10 assists per game - which is an incredibly high number for NBA, and even more rare in NCAA.  But with these scorers - he should do it - that's what this team needs.

Trey Burke has 8 assists.  We're far better off with him getting the whole roster involved than relying on him making bailout shots a la last year. His scoring will be there when we need it, but right now we don't

What an awesome feeling it is to know that you have a good basketball team. I don't know if I could've ever said that in my 24 years of fandom (obviously was too young in the Fab 5 era). I'm literally giddy.

I blame the 2 cheap fouls on vogrich...because when stauskas needed the breather belein sent in akunne, which led to the mini-run by nc state because he took 2 horrible shots.

we will be once all of our young guys gain more experience - possibly mid-way through the Big Ten season.  I think we are comfortably Top 10 already, but this team WILL GET BETTER.

It's not only the freshman that will get better.  Al Horford will definitely improve as he's only played a few minutes of college ball.  But possibly the biggest improvement will come from Burke who, until today's first half 9 assists, was not playing well - shooting poorly, taking bad shots, and not distributing the ball too well (for his ability).  He will learn how to adjust to this team and will improve both assists and shooting.

Yeah, top 3 ... at least.

I remember being so sad at the thought of losing Zack and Stu... what they contributed on and off the floor, and especially leadership role. But my god, has Beilein replaced them with legit talent. Guys with future NBA talent.

Not as bummed as originally thought I would be without those two. But I'll always appreciate what they helped build here.

I go back to the Ricky Green, C.J.Cupek, Hubbard, Johnny Rob, Wayman Britt, Steve Grote and I was spoiled for the most of 3 decades and then an SUV took a tumble and so did our beloved program.

Really nice to see this resurgence that seems like it will be a sustaining thing going forward.

I grew up with U-M being a perennial top ten team in both FB & BB, glad to be there again.

Said it earlier..... I love the Fab 5, was an awesome time to be a Michigan BB fan.  But I think this team will work harder in the regular season, and might end up accomplishing more if we can get some of these guys to stay for two years or more.
