Small correction: It's Zak.

The whole team shot well from three-point range (52.4%) even though they're playing under FIBA rules, which has a slightly larger (about a foot) arc.

see him scoring in other ways than beyond the arc. He went 5-5 on 3pt. Now if you have to stop a dribble drive..... Yikes. I'm hoping he has that working. It would nice to see some footage to see how he got it done.

I was at the game today in Rome. Competition was weak. We scored 40 in the first ten minutes. Irvin is big this year. Went to the basket with ease. He shot the lights out from everywhere. He could be a high lottery pick. Levert will be the leader and this team will live and die depending on how he plays. Chatman was impressive. He is the real deal. Hatch played final 4 minutes. Place went nuts when he went in. Great moment for him and his grandfather. Talked to Levert and Irvins mom and grandmother. Bad news is if both have a good year, both will be gone.

Competition was weak but you were able to conclude that Irvin can be a high lottery pick from that sample haha. Love the optimism.

I'm OK with it. If they go pro, we had another awesome year. JB has adjusted his recruiting accordingly. If LeVert's stock is high by midseason we'll make some phone calls to a few top guys, or be able to make some pretty good assurances to juniors.

What I like even more is that 5 other guys scored in the double digits. Competition caveats apply, but it's always nice to see lots of people contributing. That makes it just that much harder on opposing defenses.

I lived in Italy for six years, and a lot of those Italian teams have quite a few athletes who were good college players, but just not good enough to go to the NBA. The competition isn't too bad. Not sure about this team, though.

I do love this basketball team. Coach Beilein is truly building something special in the Crisler Center.

Everyone should headover to UMhoops.com for updates. Recent write ups include a nice summary of the game, and on the caliber of competition of the teams they will face during the trip. Looks like the strongest match up will be the last game against Mantova Stings, a pro 2nd-division team.
